I just got my results in the mail from AAPC that I passed the certification exam for CPC-H! I have been an MT for decades and when my last in-house MT job was outsourced, I decided I'd better get moving on to coding.
Coding is very difficult and I had quite a time completing the online CPC-H course offered by AAPC. I started in the Spring and just got certified. I want all the MTs out there to know that terminology, A&P are helpful to already know! It was not easy to get this certification and unless you are currently taking a course or newly certified, I don't see how anyone could comment on coding in general, outsourcing coding or offshoring coding. I was the only one testing for CPC-H and there were 12 others testing for CPC at the exam. I thought I would have a better chance of finding a job in my area if I had outpatient coding and ambulatory surgery coding under my belt. For MTs debating about whether to start a coding course, any coding course, it is possible to transition.
