For anyone sitting with jobs that won't upload - I have the solution

I logged in at 10 a.m. EST and worked my entire shift. I got NJA a few times, so didn't do as many jobs as normal (straight typing only).

Anyway, the work kept coming, so I kept typing. The DEP screen said they were working on moving the "stuck" jobs out, so I figured I would just plug along.

I wrote down every job number I typed along the way.

At the end of my shift, I had 17 jobs that were hanging in limbo. I had submitted a ticket to QCare but had received no response.

FINALLY, someone called me and said to shut DQS down using task manager (CTRL + ALT + DEL). Then log back into DQS and the jobs should come back. I could then recover the text and upload and see if they would go.

Only problem was that I had jobs that had been stuck for 8 hours or more. He said he wasn't sure I would get them all back because of the length of time they were sitting there.

Anyhow, I finally bit the bullet and did as he suggested. I got ALL 17 of my jobs back, recovered the text, and successfully uploaded them. Didn't lose a single job (I was nearly in tears thinking I would lose all that work).

Just FYI for anyone wondering what the heck to do.

Since a very savvy tech person turned me on to it a long time ago. Someone whose job has probably since been outsourced. Too bad MQ didn't realize their value. Or ours. Don't wait too long to hit that Ctrl + Alt + Del button and then sign back in. Your job will still be there in Reserve and all you have to do is recover it. I want a job in Support! A nice thought.

I'm extremely computer savvy....have fixed family members' and friends' computers and saved them from viruses that wiped them out. I know all about task manager and have used it more times than I can count. Been on a computer since I was 5 when all there was was DOS. Still can work with a command prompt. Don't freak out at every little blip, etc.

However, I have only been with MQ for a year (in MT a lot longer) and will be leaving MQ soon because I am simply disgusted.

In this particular scenario, I felt that I would lose everything if I shut down DQS. The work kept coming in...I could type the jobs...But they would not upload. I was freaked...didn't want to lose all that work since it was my entire shift's worth.

Now I know. My post here was to help anyone else that may be in my situation. I hope there aren't many, but I know the problem was widespread this morning.

Anyhow...Desperate Housewives is on and it is my guilty pleasure. Sunday night is MY night to watch MY shows...and my boyfriend is happy that I get my enjoyment and goes and does his own thing in the other room.

Sorry. Didn't mean to come off sounding so glib or like a know it all. I surely do not...but after I reread what I wrote I see that it could be construed that way. I know you must have been freaking out wondering if you were going to get credit for all that work. I've stayed on like that before and continued to work, too, even though the red light was showing..because the jobs kept coming through, but then when I tried to log off, they wouldn't upload and I didn't get credit for all of them. I guess that was my point more than anything else...(agreeing with you)to not just shut down the system by logging off the normal way or getting mad and slamming the off button because then for sure you probably won't get credit. But at least with the ctrl + alt + del, now a message goes through to tech so that they can do a diagnostic report and anyone has a much better chance of retrieving what has already been done. Yesterday was a riot! I only managed to get 4 reports done in 3 hours because of that stupid system. They were long reports, but still..that's terrible! Finally called it quits. I just couldn't take it anymore.

I've noticed that sometimes, usually during the day, jobs seem to download and upload a lot slower than they do at night. I know this is not my computer because it's brand new it doesn't happen on a consistent basis. Does DQS get "slow" when there are a lot of people on the system or does management have a way to turn the server up or down? (I've read on another board that on some systems that is a possibility.) ...

With MM's restrictions on pretty much everything, how often does everybody get up to take a break? Previously I could get up and stretch, walk away for a few minutes before downloading the next job, but now I get reprimanded for inactive time. How long do you work before standing up? Do you stand and work at the same time sometimes. I have severe RLS and to top that off my chair is like sitting on a brick. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks! ...

So only 3 jobs this a.m. and obviously my accounts have no work. I have been checking all morning. Have a cookout with friends this afternoon I could be attending. E-mailed boss, but of course she must be off enjoying the holiday. I'm thinking I'm going to go ahead and enjoy my afternoon away from the computer waiting for NO JOBS? It's a sad realization that while I was a fairly decent medical transcriptionist, I am not good at editing. I made 3 critical errors in one day. I don't really have an excuse. I caught a bazillion errors as I had some pretty bad dictations yesterday but missed a lab error 50.3 instead of 50.8, a diagnosis VR typed hemangioma and it was supposed to be meningioma. There was one other stupid one. I'm not too proud to admit, I am just not cut out for this. I'm not sure if ...

Hate it when they say," You have to work your shift." Then we sit and wait for 1 report, maybe 2 every hour. Well, "I can give you another account to work on." Account specifics only 35 to 40 pages. OK will do that. By the way, there is only 1 report on that account... What a waste..... And, no, you cannot have off. You were scheduled to work, so you have to work.... ...

I don't get it. Suddenly companies are asking about download & upload speed of my computer. My computer has worked just fine for MT work for over 9 years now. Nobody has ever asked about the speed before, and I've never had any problems. Now I'm looking for work and because my upload speed isn't 1.5 or above, places won't hire me despite my qualifications. ...
