Do those of you working FT work 8 hours straight or do you - sm

split your hours up into 2 or 3 segments during the day/night. Want to go FT but not sure I could take working 8 hours straight and wondered what others working FT do. Thank you!

I work splits, 4 hours in the morning, 4 hours in the evening. There is no way I could sit for 8 hours straight now that everything is so cumbersome and the sound quality is horrible.

Funny, I was just coming on here to say the same thing. I don't do MT anymore at all, but when it got really bad, the only way I could do it is to just do it straight, taking a couple of short breaks.

My stomach churned every time I thought about work, so why have it churning for 4 hours in between shifts? Kinda like a Chinese water torture. Do it for 4 hours, take a break for 4 hours looking forward to another 4 hours of torture. LOL. Sad, though.

Same here its hard enough sitting still for 4 hours couldnt imagine 8 - wish there was just a line quota per day

we could work whenever we wanted, that way I could work around what I needed to get done. But sticking to schedules I want it all done with in one fell swoop..Im an insomniac, often, I miss not being able to sleep and just getting my work done in the middle of the night..Ah the good old days.

middle of the night and couldn't go back to sleep, I could just work for an hour or two until I felt tired enough to get back to sleep. Then, since I didn't sleep well, I'd have less hours to put in the next day.

I just started 6 hours, 1-1/2 hour break to go on a long walk with the dogs, and then 4 hours. Don't mind it so far and only have to work 4 days a week!

here and talk/brag about something within this company that others have been told absolutely NO, we do not do that. No 10-hour days/4-day weeks!!

Sorry to ruffle your feathers, but I definitely was not bragging. I have worked EVERY weekend since I started in 1996 and when I offered to work 10 hour days they happily jumped at it because of coverage issues on weekends. Hope that unruffles your feathers.

I work 9 hrs 4 days and then 4 hrs on the weekend. Sucks. Too tired to do anything once I get off. Thinking of working split shift 6 and then 3 hrs and then 4 on weekends still, but haven't made my final decision yet. I do not take any breaks. Fix snacks and sandwiches night before and go and grab that when I need it.

How many of you are ICs who are required to work set hours? How many have to use an electronic time cards online to record every break? When I took the MT course, I was under the impression that I would receive a batch of work and then have 12-24 hours to return it, making my work schedule flexible so I could work around my children's school and summer schedules. I've got great experience and when I'm scheduled to work, I'm there working. What the hell difference does it make if I only want to be scheduled for 6 hours on four of my weekdays? Would they rather I said I would work 8 hours and actually only work 6 like a lot of people? Nuance is doing YOU, the MT, no favor when they say they willl pay the minimum wage. They are REQUIRED by federal law to pay you the minimum wage based upon your state's minimum wage rate. Got new accounts for the last 2 weeks that are not ASR (yet) so have been doing about 90% straight typing. I have been averaging about $20 more per day than when I do ASR. I have been considering going to Andrews to become an MT for and I have never done it because I get on these boards and get scared to death! I have worked in the Medical field for 13 years (as a clinical tech and surgery....included in that is some limited transcription and scribing). I now stay home with my kids. I used to work there for approx. a year or so, before it really went down the toilet. I believe that sheer GREED set it and that's when it went downhill. Although I no longer work there, I have kept contact with some pretty reliable people.
