Is anyone happy at MModal? Are there any pros to all the cons?

Things change in a heartbeat. I have experienced it. I go from making pretty good money to making minimum wage, depending on the day. So, if you ask me on a bad day, I hate this place. If you ask me on a good day, Im content, for now.

I guess it depends on your tolerance level.

I'm stuck here for now for a variety of reasons, insurance being one of them. Not horribly unhappy, but sure not happy either. This probably has not helped you at all. Good luck!

I think you described my situation perfectly. Not exactly happy here either, but on the bright side I do have a steady account, a good schedule and a great CCM. Insurance is better now than it has been. I know the local hospital is hiring transcription at $9 an hour which is less than I make now at home. So I am fighting the boredom and burnout along with you. Not hating my job, but not loving it either.

After 13 years I just left because of all the BS and minimum wage most of the time. This place just isn't worth it.From the looks of all the technical problems and even more BS since I left, I think I got out just in time.

agency. If I were to get a job as a receptionist that would be twice what I make at M*Modal. I told her to put me down for direct hire or temp or contract because even if I were to work 3 days a week as a receptionist that would be more than I make at 40 hours a week with M*Modal. She told me because of my willingness to take temp jobs that she is absolutely sure she can place me and keep me with steady work. I'm going to risk it. My dignity is suffering here. I feel worthless. I'm not going to give notice either because why would I spend one more day at minimum wage when I can easily make double somewhere else.

rotten job any more. The lack of respect for what we do and for us even as people is appalling and the pay is way too low for the aggravation factor. Maybe I'm just old, tired, burned out and sick of it all. On the bright side, they do pay on time.

I didn't like the FTR and being penalized if you had to send to QA, I didn't like the intrusive E-mails about my inactive time, I didn't like getting audited like a toddler when I have been level 3, typed the hardest of the hard, and always produced top-quality work. So after making the amount in 2011 that I made in 1992, I quit a few months ago. Once again if you just need some "extra" money, you may be fine. If you are trying to make a living, look elsewhere.

I do not rely on MModal as a primary source of income, but if I did I would probably not get much sleep at night. It's not really a stable environment. You never know when pay is getting cut (again). You never know when you're going to get targeted by a nitpicking auditor. You never know if you'll have a few days of NJA and lose quite a bit of money on your paycheck.

I personally have no complaints, but I don't fault anyone here who does.

Money has dropped so that I can only pay the mortgage and utilities. This is no longer a job that supports the household. I am still here because I can take this job with me anywhere, and there are family issues that have been consistent for the last few years. Also I appreciate my CCM for working with me - she is the best boss in my working career. Also not sure about the insurance being less expensive, if it is "more expensive" on employee's end - it is all relative, but the balance is that I am still here though not able to continue financially with this 1 job. I live in the Midwest in a relatively inexpensive part of the country. As for MModal, I would like to think they will right the imbalance and give us better software to work with so we can really make more, AND give us raises for incentive for excellence in the face of reducing pay. That's ALL!

FYI, it is very sad and its probably safe to say I am not the only one who is using my future income to supplement my current income.

Sadly so am I, but I'm taking SS early at 65 in - 6 months.

During my last few months with the "Q" (now M*Modal) after ASR getting worse, and all the "good work" going away I too found myself "dipping" into my savings to get by. I kept telling myself I'll put it back when-----. Finally things went from bad to worse and I finally realized "when" was never gonna come. Fortunately, I was able to get out or I'd probably be broke on the street by now. Best of luck to those trying to stick it out.

I'm very thankful that I have had the opportunity to work in this profession of MT. As you say, it is a supplemental job. It is interesting and challenging, and for me, often hard to keep up as far as speed, accuracy, and schedule.

As you say, you can take it anywhere and that is a very big plus for this profession, as well as being able to work at home. I don't think this profession and the opportunity to work at home are well known to the public. I would think there would be more interested if they were aware. Also, better for those who live in less expensive areas as you mentioned.

It's a job that is just right for some but not for others, depending upon individual circumstances.

I have resisted working for them because of things said on this board. When they bought out eTransPlus, I left as fast as I could and went back to Transcend. When Transcend was bought out by Nuance I had a choice to make. I applied for an opening with MModal because it was M-F day shift and I got it! MModal has been wonderful!

I have better benefits than I had with any other company I've worked for. They leave me alone and let me do my job. Transcend was horrible. I have more PTO time than with any other company and I'm being paid well for my PTO.

I know this isn't the case with everyone and lots of people aren't happy, but it may just depend on the acct they are on and their CCM.

I didn't work in transcription when people made mega bucks. I've only been doing this for almost 6 years. I make as much working at home as I did as an office nurse. Sure it has its ups and downs, but I don't have to deal with office politics and this is more flexible.

MModal rocks in my opinion. I think the happy people don't come here discuss things because most of the things discussed are gripes and complaints.

They can change the name, but not the smell. Poop is still poop, whether you call it poo-poo or doo-doo. The company is still crap. This is a great job for someone who doesn't need money, but has years of knowledge and can type 100 wpm. If this is you, then definitely apply!

Its been almost 2 weeks since I left MModal and I have never been happier. The stress is gone!!! and I have found that their platform they brag about sucks!! The platform I work on now is soooo much better at picking things up. O and for some reason even while I am training I am getting 99.9% and just could not seem to get that grade at MModal. Who in their right mind names a company "Happy Transcriptions?" In this day and age, all I see is "sad" MTs and, in my opinion, if "Happy Transcriptions" is still happy, they can only be messing even more with us poor "sad" MTs. All I can say is I am so "happy" I am so close to being on my way out of MT! ...

I've been at TTS for almost 3 years and I have nothing but positive things to say about TTS. I never have to guess what TTS expects from me, and I do my best to deliver that on a consistent basis. I was laid off as an MT a couple of months ago. I am wondering if there is a single person on this forum who is an MT who is happy with their job (including the miniscule pay that would be appropriate compensation if it were around 1975 rather than 2013 or lived in another country in which one can buy a lot more with 50 cents). Sunday it will be 2 months I have been at my new position since leaving MM. I no longer need to take Prilosec daily and my dr. has decreased my BP med. Furthermore, I was asked after a month if I would like to do full time editing at 6 cpl AND I get paid for every single line I edit....not less than half that MM pays their MMEs.
