Any FT MTs from MModal left in CA? - kiki

Is it true a lot of other companies (and maybe this one?) refuse to hire anyone from CA? It's getting to the point where I'm considering moving to another state so I can hopefully find another MT job (got laid off from MM), but that would be difficult as I would have to move my mom with me, as she has dementia and can't be alone.....sigh.....I am hoping someone knows if there are at least some companies that hire from CA and if so which ones?
I can't think of anything that would make me want - to leave CA, ESPECIALLY not any MT job! KP

You can buy a nice little newer house there for LESS than a tiny older 1-bedroom condo here, and I'm talking in a pretty crappy area.

Since I began working for MM I have also got medical, dental, and vision benefits; of course, I, like everyone else, pay for half our benefits. Also if I get NJA for a full day of work, by CA law, the company pays 3 to 3.5 hours, and I apply PTO for the rest.

[ In Reply To ..]I talked to them about a year and a half ago, but decided to stay where I was. However, I know a handful of times when I've applied somewhere, they reply that they don't hire in CA (think it's an extra tax they pay). I know when I was laid off from one company where I worked for 8 years (when they started downsizing, and company eventually went to M-Modal), I was among the first regardless of seniority and quality, thinking that where I lived helped play into their decision.
SoftScript is not a bad deal, though :)

Its been almost 2 weeks since I left MModal and I have never been happier. The stress is gone!!! and I have found that their platform they brag about sucks!! The platform I work on now is soooo much better at picking things up. O and for some reason even while I am training I am getting 99.9% and just could not seem to get that grade at MModal.
