6.1 Upgrade Personalized Expansion File Lost - Frustrated

Hopefully somebody knows the answer to this question. When I did the 6.1 upgrade, none of my personal expansions were transferred. Is there a way to find that old file and copy it to the new upgrade?

flash drive once a week so can use that to transfer them if something goes wrong (support put my expansion file on desktop a few years ago when my expansion file got corrupted and showed me how to save them to a flash drive...big lifesaver for me).

My expansions were there and intact when I upgraded to 6.1 and still can use the same desktop file to save them.

They are probably in a folder somewhere. Had to to copy - & move mine B4. Hope tech can help U.

Lost my favorites once. They were there in a folder, but couldn't acess them except one by one, open it, save to favorites. Didn't do them all, just the main ones, and as I needed them. Called tech and then couldn't help and I self-experimented with everything I could think of. Sometimes I try a search engine with a question to try and get help with stuff like that and that way I don't have wait on the phone for tech (that's no more).

Tech called me back after 2 days on a different problem today, and got me 6.1 and the user manual. No instructions from CCM, thought maybe I could fudge my way through another ?upgrade without help (probably not in this lifetime), but was afraid I'd make it worse, but took an hour with the tech (slow connection, hurricane outside, but he said we should do it now or it might be days before they got back to me again. Well at least the electricity was on and I didn't have to hook the generator up inside my office.

Rain, snow, sleet, hail, nothing stops the MQ/MT/ME.

Can you tell me how to save to my flash drive? I just have no idea how to do it. I can use it, but do not know how to save (add new) expansions.

DocQscribe automatically saves your expansions to a folder on your computer each time you log out of DocQscribe.

Plug in flash drive. Create a folder for expansions on flash drive (I named mine MQ Expansions).

IMPORTANT: DO NOT remove flash drive when you are finished until you get the message that it is safe to remove it or some of the information you saved will be lost, happened to me in the beginning. There should be instructions about this on your flash drive. On mine, I click on the little thingy that says removable disk or mass storage device in the lower right corner of desktop in taskbar and stop the device, but may be different for yours.

Go to your DocQscribe expansion file by clicking on my computer from start menu, click on local disk (c), then documents and settings, all users, application data, DocQcribe, MQ1, cache, user profiles, folder named with the company number you use for DocQmanage, then folder with another number, then you should see your expansion file named user.aco and dictionary file named userdic.tlx (you want to save userdic.tlx also if you have added anything to it). Right click user.aco and select Copy.

Go to your flash drive expansion folder you created, click on edit, select paste. Do the same for userdic.tlx. That should save your MQ expansions and dictionary onto your flash drive, at least that is how it works for me. I do this once a week and it has saved me big time when I lost my expansions twice.

I hope this helps and I have not steered you in the wrong direction to get/save your expansion file as I am not sure it is the same on all computers and flash drives. Support helped me with this in the past, not sure they do it now. Good luck.

I almost got caught just now, dictated as BPH, expanded BY THE SPEECH ENGINE to benign prostatic hypertrophy. Guess what happens when they catch that? I would get marked off because BPH can be either benign prostatic hypertrophy or benign prostatic hyperplasia, right? Ridiculous. Can't they teach the speech engine not to expand things when they have set the rule not to? Sometimes I have to wonder if they sit around trying to figure out ways to get us, really. ...

I've been out of transcription for a couple of years and wonder what the most popular expansion program is now. I loved PRD before it expired years ago. More recently used Abbreviate for it's ability to provide formatted text (bold print, etc) in the short forms so an entire H&P format could be saved. Is that still on the market? does anyone else have favorite abbreviations they just love using? I noticed yesterday when I typed my expansion for 4th-5th webspace (45ws), I actually got a rush- my heart sped up and I felt like "gee that was fun!" I've used the ShortCut expansion program for 13 years so I'd hate to have to change now, but I'm having a problem with my expansions popping out ever since I installed Word 2010. They actually come out in slow motion, so slowly that I have a paragraph typed and only two or so words will be expanded. Can anyone tell me if there is another word expansion program that will work in Bayscribe? Either my keyboard is not as sensitive, or that program is just a little slower than ones I have previously used. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen. I got 0.25 taken off for the dictator having dictated "temp" and the report having "temperature." The techs where I work can only my dictionary compatible if I use the F3 key which is really inconvenient. I used to use AutoCorrect in DQS, and when I put in 72yo, it came out 72-year-old. With ShortHand, it does not expand, I assume because the 72 is attached to the yo and the computer therefore doesn't read yo by itself and therefore does not expand. Can someone tell me how to enter this into my ShortHand dictionary so that whenever I enter a number plus yo, it expands to XX-year-old? Sorry for my ShortHand newbieness, and thanks in advance. ...

I work full time for a company where I am on a platform with a built in expander program, but I recently started picking up jobs for a friend's company when she gets too busy and her staff can't keep up with it. All of the work there is done on Word and would be so much easier if I had an expansion program. Hey all, When logging in to work this morning, I get a message that DQS must be upgraded. Ok, I log into DQM and click the DQS link.
