Hello fellow MT's, I saw that another MT posed this question and I thought it was a great idea to get a heads up before I do this. I plan on giving MM my 2 weeks very very very soon and I was wondering if anyone who has given 2 weeks at MM could tell me what happened immediately after they gave their notice? How they were treated, how PTO you have banked was handled, etc. Anything will be helpful. You can private e-mail me if you would like. Thank you in advance, it is very much appreciated.

when you know they wouldn't give you the same consideration... not 1 minute, even.

What WILL happen, I can assure you, is that you'll most likely either be IMMEDIATELY shut out of the system. If not terminated immediately, you'll get a minimum/no work while you still have to account for your time OR you'll get they worst garbage they can throw at you.

They know that most MTs, at this point, might not even care about QA, having to answer to mgmt., thumb their noses at ESLs & not care about HIPAA (I know I wouldn't).

DO NOT GIVE THEM SQUAT...Unless you're prepared - MTmom

to forego those 2 weeks in NO work/NO $, yet still be expected to stick to your 40-hour schedule... this would be a lose/lose situation. They know you're going, you are going to get all their ESL/garbage if you get any work at all.

Do yourself a favor (please pass this advice to you fellow MTs):
1. Have your new job lined up with a confirmed start date.
2. On your last day with the old monsters, do your last report, give notice via e-mail of your resignation and put in your time card. End of story.

Thank you MTmom for that advice because I sure cannot afford 2 weeks without any work which = NO money (which is near to what I'm getting anyway). I'm gonna not say anything then until my last day, after all I'm not planning on returning to MM in the near or distant future!!

Any future employer will appreciate the fact that you gave notice to a past employer, no matter how bad they were. It is the right thing to do.

But the truth is, I am exactly like you. How *I* feel about the way I left a company no matter how badly I was treated, is what matters most to me.

I would probably dream and fantasize about not giving notice, but the truth is I would probably feel really bad about myself as an employee if I didn't.

Go ahead and give it, but dont come back here to whine - no work, boo hoo why me. nm

I gave 2 weeks notice. I did not notice my workflow change and got the same work I always had. My mgr was not happy to lose me but she was supportive. I had an exit interview where to my surprise was offered a tiny little bump in my pay but I wanted out just as bad as I do now. The woman who interviewed me did say that I was welcome to come back in the future. I'm only back now because of a buyout. I was told I would get boxes and return materials for their computer, which is still sitting in my basement after calling and requesting them to send me this material several times. I did not have PTO but I have read here several times that they pay you what you are owed as far as your PTO. Good luck to you!

business as usual until I left. As much as I despised MM, it's a mighty big bridge to burn over a couple of weeks, especially since I always had plenty of work. They also paid any leftover PTO as well. I never had any exit interview. Good luck.

Nothing changed, I was not mistreated.

everything went as usual. I also got my PTO on my last check. I got a call within a month for an exit interview also. And, I got the labels and boxes I needed to send the computers and monitor back. My TSM did her job by sending my information to all the correct departments to get everything taken care of.

What if I don't give a 2 week notice? Is it really gonna hurt me? I doubt they give detailed information about what kind of employee you were. Maybe just dates. I have heard not one word. No calls, no e-mails, nothing. Do you think it is necessary to give 2 weeks notice if I am ALWAYS out of work. For example I should be done with my 8 hour shift in an hour and I am not even half way through the day due to being out of work on my primary and ALL of my back ups. Worked here for over 20 years. Been MT of the month 3 times with pay raises only to be grandfathered in to lose my raises and have the same pay I started working for this company. but accounts in my own BOB, I started getting ALL non-BOB today even though apparently there was plenty of work on my primary. So I though, hmmmm, I bet I'm getting audited....sure enough......I looked in statistics and I WAS.
