transcription positions in a doctor's office - Freda
Posted: Jun 19, 2013
Is it impossible to find a position as a transcriptionist in a doctor's office. I have had no luck at all since I have been a transcriptionist. I have been a transcriptionist for 23 years and nothing from a doctor's office ever.
Well - see msg

Doc's offices don't really use MTs anymore. I remember even way back in the late 1990s, my family doc having a little "thing" he punched the info into. It's more sophisticated now. Anytime I go to a doc for anything, I ask if they use MTs, and they all say "no." Clinic stuff is waaaay toooo easy and was the first to get lost to electronics. Hospital stuff is obviously more complicated.....

I have a possible job lining up in doc's office to transcribe clinic notes. Don't know how long it will last, but have been told steady work.
I've been doing a GI specialty doc since 1986 - L&L

NOT verbatim because he dictates some of the dumbest sounding things and wants someone to clean up his grammar, especially his letters. I even compose some of his letters for him.
I have 3 specialists whose office work I transcribe - frootloops

2 oncologists and 1 ENT. I could have more but I turned them down. I'd rather do hospital work any day, but it pays the bills!

Transcription Software So That Doctor Can Dictate Into A Digital Recorder From His Office Apr 20, 2010Does anybody know of a good software program or system where the doctor can dictate into a digital recorder from his office, upload it to my computer and that I could transcribe using a footpedal (that I already have) and then upload it and send it back to the doctor? The doctor would like to start using a digital system ASAP, so any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! ...

Does Every Doctor Office Have Coders? Aug 04, 2011Just curious. And if so, do coders work as the primary billilng person as well or do they having a billing person and a coder. I don't see too many jobs advertised for coders so I was wondering... maybe not all have them. ...
I Work At A Doctor's Office As An MT, But I Also Aug 23, 2013perform document scanning and indexing for all the hospital documents, correspondence and faxed documents they receive. We share office space with another practice. The other practice is a completely seperate entity with seperate payroll. ? About Working For A Private Doctor's Office Apr 15, 2012I saw an opening for a medical transcriptionist for a private doctor's office in my town. I wonder, if any of you work in a private office--won't all medical practices be going to some sort of EMR in the coming year? This ad didn't say anything at all about EMR, but I'm kind of assuming that they'll be switching to it if they haven't already.
I've only done MT in an acute-care hospital setting, so I also wonder if a lot of smaller doctor ...
Should I Stay Or Should I Go? I Took A Job At A Local Doctor's Office As Jun 16, 2012a scheduler/receptionist. I took the job because I wasn't making anything typing at home and I thought it would be nice to get out of the house and sharpen some different skills apart from just transcribing. Plus the office is 5 minutes from my house, days with weekends off, and it's a steady paycheck that does not fluctuate because there's no jobs available or I'm having an off dat, but I hate the job! On my third day, the lady who was training me had ...
Anybody Handle Phones In A Doctor's Office? Jul 29, 2012So I just got a temp job in a fancy upscale surgical hospital. First in-house job in 8 years, and I really need to convert this job into a permanent deal, but my first attempts on the phone last week I sort of bombed. Is anybody able to offer some pointers on phone tact? I know I will make mistakes, it would be great if I could recover from them gracefully. >_<*
If someone was willing to mentor me and get me through this next week I would send you a box of cookies or brownies or wha ...
Typing In Your Own Record At The Doctor's Office Mar 20, 2014My husband went to the doctor last week. The lady asked him his medical history, typing it in the computer, then spun it around and asked him to enter some of his personal information, name, address, etc., himself. Now that might be a first. ...

The Transcription Doctor Feb 28, 2010Unbelievable. They just sent a ton of attachments. No inservice on the "particulars" when you're filling out the demographic screen, just a TON of instructions without answering any questions. You watch the video on escription, download it, and then you're suppose to be good to go. Forget it. ...
Nothing But Office Notes And Office Letters With No ADT Tonight And Last Night. A Recipe For Perfor Mar 08, 2014Numerous cc's not in the database which have to be added, address and all. Short reports, of course, that take 3x longer than the dictation time. Just shoot me now.
I can't wait until I get a new job! Came close today - job lead was 1/2 day too late. :-( Hopefully the other person won't work out :-} ...

Need To Convert From Office 2013 To Office 2010 Apr 26, 2014I'm starting with a new company next week. My Windows 7 PC has Office 2013 Professional. The new company's platform is only compatible with 2010 or earlier. I don't have the money to spend on 2010, so I'll either have to decline the offer or try to find a way to install 2010 cheaply. I thought I might be able to download a version for free, since it's not the newest version, but it doesn't look like I can do that. Any ideas? ...
Overheard A Doctor Telling Another Doctor... Oct 15, 201020 years ago when the DRG's hit the hospitals, one was complaing to the other... "they treat doctors like a bunch of old dogs now". Well, that's how MTs are being treated now. Why on God's green earth do the MT services require all MT's to work at least one weekend day every week (Friday's and Monday's don't count). Every ad I see on the Job Seeker board requires weekends. Are they sadistic or something. Why do we put u ...

CTL Positions Being Eliminated? Nov 05, 2009Heard a rumor that the CTL positions are being eliminated around the 15th. Perhaps this is a question you should ask your CCMs/area directors? Not sure if it is true but when asked specifically, it was not denied but there is something brewing around the 15th.
Seems like all CTLs will be moved to the MME positions and the CCMs will assume the CTL duties. Sounds like another shake up at the Q which always happens around the holidays. Wonder if ...
TRANSTECH POSITIONS Oct 05, 2010TRANSTECH AS YOU CAN SEE BY THEIR NEED OF HELP, NEED THE HELP BECAUSE SO MANY PEOPLE LEAVE. THEY DO NOT SEND OUT QA STATS AS MOST PROFESSIONAL COMPANIES DO AND THEY ALSO DO NOT EVEN SEND E-MAILS FROM QA TELLING YOU WHAT YOU ARE DOING INCORRECTLY. THEY JUST FIRE YOU. DO NOT WORK FOR THEM. THEY ARE NOT A FAIR COMPANY TO WORK FOR. ...
Are There Any IC Positions With 24-hour TAT? Jan 12, 2011Can anyone give me information on companies who hire IC's with a 24-hour turn around time? I want to get my work today and turn it in by a certain time the next day without having to work a schedule or in pools. With everything else going on with these companies from low pay, heavy ESL's, and lack of work, I would at least like to have the flexibility of doing the work on MY time. Thanks in advance.... ...
Transolutions Few Positions Available Jun 02, 2011When I spoke with the recruiter, it sounded like there were just a few positions available. Yet, another recruiting ad showed up on Tuesday evening at another major MT recruiting website.
So, I'm wondering, is the recruiter using the old trick of sounding like I'd better jump and grab one of those "few" positions, or did a bunch of people who were already hired suddenly quit? I wonder why Transolutions has had so many recruiting ads lately. Again, I was told that there were only ...
TL Positions At Transcend Jul 09, 2011There are quite a few of these positions open and I am wondering if there is a high turn around for TLs because the extra money does not compensate enough for all the time required? If you are or have been a TL there, I would like to hear your thoughts. ...
Are They All Editing Positions? Jul 30, 2011Just wandering if there are any employee positions that aren't just editing out there. I feel like I am not growing as an MT doing nothing but editing. Unless I choose to just edit and accept this is the new norm at 3 cents a line, eventually getting my own voice recognition software for the future for any accounts I want to get on my own. Any thoughts? I am wandering if this is something I just need to hop onboard for. Editing for nationals doesn't pay anything ...

Hourly Positions? Feb 25, 2012Do any MT companies ever pay hourly instead of by the line? I am having a hard time with not knowing what my paycheck will be and would rather find an hourly pay (realizing it will be low) so at least I know what I can expect. Thanks. ...
