I have one that says "i-yuh" after every other word. Must be our version of "uh".

Also have one that says "peedie u-wah-par", which I finally figured out probably means period, new paragraph. LOL

It used to really step on my corns when any dictator would spell for me. I can speak three languages, and English is one of them, thank you. Who do they think we are--monkeys?

More often than I not, I find when they do spell, they spell it incorrectly. Aggravates me to no end!

Dictating Punctuation - MC

With ASR now, I actually don't mind them dictating periods, saves me a lot of trouble. They're USUALLY pretty good with their periods. Leave the commas to me, though, thank you.

Or how about entire paragraphs raced through at warp speed by a just-off-the-boat dictator, with no attempt at punctuation whatsoever. What do I call that kind of account?

Sick Of Background Noises
Apr 15, 2014

Anyone ever just want to type a note in the QA box to the client regarding background noises of nurses etc running their mouth about anything, cell phones going off, ventilator going up and down, etc etc etc.  I have a doctor right now, and a long report, that so far has 23 QA markers all because the nurses (? anyway females) in the background are so loud and the doctor is listening to them and trying to dictate, not to mention he needs to use a Kleenex and is a horrible ESL.   Ok ...

Speaking Of Irritating Noises...
Jan 23, 2015

It's that cold time of year, where the MT is forced to listen to dictators with a LOT of snot in their noses, which they periodically loudly sniff back and swallow.  Unfortunately, I have a very vivid imagination, and the mental image of makes me almost gag. Another annoying thing is when doctors speak in a low, barely audible voice, but their "S's" come out with a whistle, so each time you turn the sound up, you get the loud, shrieking whistle ...

This Silly Audits
Apr 15, 2010

This is silly Not only do we need to follow CP guidelines but BOS and then DocQscribe standards. So even if you have the first 2, the third will get you audit.    Why can't they spend the money and create one set of rules to follow and be done with it.  We work on production now.  checking on previous dictated reports and then double checking guidelines from all three areas ??  and when you send in a blank now I am also being questioned about the audio etc.&nb ...

I Have A Silly Question

Does MQ contribute at all to the cost of taking the CMT test?  I have come across 2 jobs that require you to be a CMT.  I know I'm asking a lot but just wondering.  TIA. ...

Just For Fun. A Few Silly Codes.
Sep 30, 2014

...but this was in my newspaper today and it cracked me up. Commentators have had fun with the new system of medical diagnostic codes (denominated in from four to ten digits each) scheduled to take effect in October 2015, and the Ć¢€œHealthcare DiveĆ¢€ blog had its laughs in a July post. The codes for "problems in relationship with in-laws" and "bizarre personal appearance" are quixotic enough, but the most Ć¢€œabsurd" codes are "subsequent encounters" (that is, at least the second time ...

More Silly Union Talk
Jan 31, 2011

Before responding, please read this post carefully. Yes, I’m talking union here, but NOT an MT union which would be pointless. Unfortunately we’ve missed that opportunity. Also, this post is intended for experienced professional MTs and include my thoughts on several topics that started down below. And hold onto your hats; this is a long one.   I’ve chimed in on this subject before, but I wanted to make an official post to put it out there and get valuable feedback fro ...

Fluency Silly Question - Or Not ?
Jun 05, 2014

Recently got new computer and started using Windows 7 Professional. When I type p.o. I get two spaces after each period.  Not sure if a fluency or a Win 7 problem.  I have scoured all settings, to no avail.  Also, what I had fixed before, when I type p.o. I get p.O. Any ideas how to get rid of the capital O.  I have taken out all autoinserts in settings to avoid caps at beginning of new sentences, etc.  This is getting annoying, I waste a lot of time going back to delete ...

Silly Me. I Was Hoping For Better Insurance.
Nov 04, 2014

Way to go Nuance! I had actually hoped we'd at least get copays this time, even if it meant paying more. Disgusting. Plain and simple. Having insurance that you can barely afford and can't even use because of the obscenely high deductible and no co-pays is ridiculous. This year is even more special - we are signing up for something we don't even know that we can afford because of the compensation changes they have promised. I am going to check into opting out a ...

What Is Wrong With Our Industry? Employers Just Come Up With One Silly Idea After Another
Mar 24, 2011

I don't know where they get all of their silly ideas, one new, amazing idea after another. You would think they would look back at the last several silly ideas they've had that didn't work and use some common sense, but that doesn't happen. It's always the idea to end all ideas, but those ideas never end well. Just a vent. ...
