Why, oh why, do they send emails saying work is slow - becuase Drs are on vaca? sm

I work a hospital acct. I thought the transcription was based on the ppl going to the hospital or already in the hospital. What difference does it make what dr. is on vaca? If Dr. XX is on vaca, wont there be a Dr. YY to cover for him?

Because it's offshored to India and they keep coming up with "stuff." This summer vacation thing will last until the end of August-Beginning of Sept.

I do not know about everybody else, but I have been buried beyond belief, which always happens anywhere near a holiday. I have not been able to get a moment to just get antibiotics for a serious kidney infection. I am getting slammed from all directions and have been for several weeks.

She can't find good help, so she has to do it all by herself while making ridiculous amounts of money with disabilities, infections and the like (shedding a tear here). In all my years as an MT, I never even came close to what she claims to make while crawling to her desk in sheer agony from the pain. Yes, grain of salt indeed. Of course, this is just my humble opinion.

I'm so glad I'm not so buried in MT work that I can't even take a break to run to the drug store, much less walk my dog. Your life must totally suck.

If you work for yourself and especially urgent care, no you cannot leave no matter what. Working for those national MTSOs does possibly have a few perks as opposed to having your own clients.

There are two sides to every coin. I worked this entire Memorial Day weekend despite being sick. I hope everybody else had at least one day off they enjoyed with their family.

My job I will have ZERO work and be told "Well, lots of docs are on vacation this time of year" I mean FOR REAL? So, what do they shut down sections of the hospital for these guys to have vacation? Crazy, crazy, crazy!

Hospital work gets slow because admissions for voluntary surgeries run in cycles (big increase before insurance deductables start over at the end of a year, for example), and there are less flu bugs and such going around to keep the old folks and little kidlets admitted. Unfortunately, they never run out of cancer, so if you want steady but sad work, learn Oncology.

on-call back-up MTs for the Labor Day weekend? Makes me laugh. She always expects this unforeseen deluge of reports because, gosh, you just never can tell when those doctors will start dictating hundreds of reports over the holiday. Way too inexperienced to be in her positon. Obviously never an MT or she would not even begin to ask for extra help during a holiday. Okay, it was the end of the week and on my very last document I had 1 word that I could not get - so I sent it to QA. Lo and behold! The entire document was picked apart for ridiculous things and some things were even changed incorrectly. All that and my blank space WAS NOT even filled in! No more QA for me! ...

programmers with a note that their work is unacceptable! They can't even get easy dictation right after the doctor has been on ASR for a few years. Give us a Christmas present - pay good programmers to come fix it. We are most likely getting what they pay for. ...no matter how many blanks, isn't that what QC people do? I mean, at some point it goes with blanks if no one solves the mysteries, right? Why would an MT be required to do this also?
