HOW MANY OF YOU WOULD ACCEPT A POSITION WHERE THE EMPLOYER DOES NOT HAVE (OR WILL NOT GIVE YOU) A FORMAL PAY SCHEDULE (MEANING  YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THE PAY PERIOD STARTS OR ENDS), HAS DECIDED NOT TO OFFER DIRECT DEPOSIT ANYMORE, BUT INSTEAD TELLS EMPLOYEES TO GET A NETSPEND CARD OR OTHER CARD AND THEY WILL LOAD YOUR CARD DIRECTLY (MINUS THE 3.85 IT TAKES TO SEND IT THROUGH WESTERN UNIT OR MONEYGRAM), DOES NOT ANSWER EMAILS ON TIME, IF AT ALL, WILL PAY YOU LATE, BUT NOT NOTIFY YOU AND GET MAD WHEN YOU GO OVER THEIR HEAD TO GET AN ANSWER?

THIS IS A SERIOUS QUESTION AS THERE IS A COMPANY OUT THERE THAT RUNS THIS WAY....ISN'T IT UNETHICAL NOT TO PROVIDE A PAY SCHEDULE SO THAT YOU CAN TRACK YOUR LINES, ETC ? WHO CAN I CONTACT TO HAVE THIS COMPANY INVESTIGATED OR AUDITED AS THEY ARE CHEATING THEIR WORKERS OVER AND OVER?  HELP

I wouldn't even consider not having definitive pay periods.

Yes, a person should know which days a paycheck is for so that they can calculate what the amount would be.

I don't care if there is no direct deposit. A check in the mail also works for me.

I'm pretty sure that if everyone just works hard and keeps their powder dry, the working conditions will eventually get better. Someone, somewhere, in the upper ranks is probably working right now to improve the working conditions of the MT. I'm not holding my breath for that to happen though. I would love to be surprised for the sake of all my MT friends. If the conditions improved 100%, I wouldn't go back. I love medical coding more than I ever enjoyed MT, and I enjoyed it a lot ...

I have an odd question.  If a US trained Medical Transcriptionist works from home (in the U.S.), but then decides to spend 1/2 the year (or more) in a foreign country, is it possible (ethical/legal) to continue working as an MT while in that country?  The MT would keep the US address, and bank account.  All paychecks would continue to be direct deposited into current U.S. bank account.  MT would continue to pay U.S. taxes on all monies earned.  Does anyone see anyt ...
