Stereo headphones for transcribing - old MT

Posted: Jan 02, 2014

I wear stereo headphones to transcribe - the old fashioned kind that fit over your whole ear.  But for the last many years I've had my own accounts and haven't had to sit transcribing for 8 hours a day.  That's going to change, and when I wear the headphones for extended periods of time, I know from experience that they start to hurt my outer ear from pressure on my ears.  They aren't tight by any means, it's just them constantly sitting on my hears.  They are Sony, and I USED to have a pair of Sony that was the same model earphones and they were a little bit looser.  Those were perfect.  This newer version of the same earphones are just enough tighter than they hurt my ears after a while. What kind of headphones do you all use?  I used the Dictaphone metal stethoscope ones for years and liked those okay, but I really do prefer the stereo headphones because they cover your whole ear and give you the best sound and ability to hear the dictation correctly.  Any suggestions on headphones?  I'm really going to need a good pair for a new job.

I like behind the head type - MTMT

I don't like the earbud type, and I don't like the headphones that sit on top of the head. They always seem too heavy and I can't always find ones that adjust small enough to sit where I want them to. I've been using the kind that go around the back of the head for years. They are very comfortable and lightweight. In fact, sometimes I forget I have them on and will get up to walk away... oops! The ones I have are Sony MDR-G45. They are only around $15 or $20 and you can get them at Best Buy or maybe even an office supply store.

Most Comfortable Headphones
Oct 15, 2009

Which headphones do you like the best in terms of comfort and quality? Some of the ones that fit inside the ears, the earbuds, make my ears sore. My boss suggested the noise-canceling kind that fit over the ears, but they are very expensive and they also look like they were be very heavy to wear. Any recommendations would be great, thank you. ...

Comfortable Headphones
Oct 18, 2009

I've always used just cheap stereo headphones but I want to try some of the ones that are made specifically for transcription. The problem is the kind that fit inside my ears can hurt, the ones that are more rounded buds and have foam on them. What headphones do you recommend that are comfortable inside the ear? I tried some recently from a fellow MT and I think they were made by Lanier but I can't remember, but they seemed comfortable. Is Lanier the best also for sound quality? I loo ...

Wireless Headphones

Does anyone have or know of where to get wireless headphones.  My cat has chewed through the wires of 3 sets of headphones (at $18 each its getting expensive).  After the first 2 sets I have been putting them in a drawer when not in use, but the cord sticks out of the drawer attached to the computer and she found her way around the box while I was watching TV and now my third set is gone.  Within seconds she chews right through the cord.  So, since there are wireless keyboard ...

What Type Of Headphones Do You Use? Why?
Nov 11, 2013

Another post got me wondering, what type of headphones / ear buds do you use and why? I, personally, switched to (in-ear) ear buds about 5 to 6 years ago.  I found a pair of Skull Candy (yes, odd name but good ear buds) that I loved and have used them since.  They have a lifetime warranty (which I've used a couple times just due to daily use, and have never had an issue).  I actually keep a backup pair in case they break, etc.  They're just the cheap ones, I belie ...
