States MTSOs don't like to hire from? - sm

I am thinking of moving to another state and seem to remember that some MTSOs do not like to hire from certain states for various reasons.  California comes to mind, but what are some of the others?

Probably Washington and Oregon. - They both have high minimum wage. NM

It is a right to work state, no union protection in any field, workers of all kinds regularly exploited.

The minimum wage in our state is the highest in the US which I guess could be why some MTSOs do not hire here. Oregon's is lower than WA but still one of the higher ones. It's also expensive to obtain a business license in WA and I think there is quite a bit of red tape to get established. We also have pretty strict OT and Workmen's Comp laws.

Although many MTSOs do not like it, California has some of the best protections for workers. IMHO, other states should follow suit and treat their MTs decently.

I thought maybe I was doomed to the lot of those who want to hire ICs to work as employees with set hours and all sorts of other restrictions but finally I am actually working as an IC with 24-hour turnaround time with both companies. For me, this is an ideal situation as I am at my most productive when I work a couple of hours and then do something else for awhile. the minimum wage is higher than $8/hr having a difficult time finding a job? I am hoping to hear that there are MTs recently laid off or quit who have fairly easily found another MT job, living in a state (such as CA, WA, OR etc) where the minimum wage is higher than average. Can anyone tell me what the more preferred way to type the above sentence would be?   Also, should I not use commas before "dated" and after the date or should I just straight type it "The report dated 08/12/09 states...."  We have a few different opinions in the office (which only dictated and have somewhat poor use of the English language) and I would like to see what you, the MT community, thinks.   Thanks! ...

I lost the email, but supposedly I get a 10-minute break after 4 hours. Do I clock out of DQS but stay clocked on at ScheduleSource or do I stay logged onto both and walk away from the computer for 10 minutes? Does it show up on the time card or only on the pay stub. Has anyone else had trouble with companies not hiring because of state laws with Workmans Compensation.  I did all the testing required for a company and then I get an email back stating they do not hire people from Ohio due to the workers comp laws.  It would be really nice for companies to take the time and list the states they will not hire from so we do not waste our time doing unnecessary testing.  The company is Synernet ...

When will you MTSOs wise up and realize that pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages of account specs for nitpicky docs SLOW DOWN YOUR MTs?  If you had any sense, you would use standardized headings in all reports and then turn that into a positive by telling prospective clients that it expedites turnaround of their reports.  That is *exactly* what I did back when I owned my company, and it worked!&n ...

If you want experienced qualified MTs who have been doing this for years and years & can do any WT, any accent, any specialty, adapt to any software quickly.... quit requiring them to include a weekend day.  Save those for part-timers or newbies.  The experienced "oldies" have done their graveyard and weekend time.  There are actually some companies who "get" that.  If you're wondering why you can't find good experienced MTs, maybe that's why... ...
