I have a good job for now but am so fed up with people who can't speak English properly, the stuttering, slurring, mumbling, whispering, and so on, not to mention coroprate bullcrap.

I thought I could hang in there to retire, but I'm finally fed up. Finally figured out something else I can do, a couple things. I won't have one egg dependent on one basket, and will be much happier in the long run. Plus no more office crap, which I despise.

I see more and more MT's fed up. I can retire next year, but that's a long time from now not to have any money. I was fired in March and because there was never any work, I get very little money to live on. The sequester will take off 16 percent pretty soon and that's when I will REALLY lose my mind. Where can a 61-year-old with bad knees get a job?? I have been looking every day since March, nobody ever replies, I changed my resume 5 times. I know nothing about customer service, call center stuff, I don't qualify for leasing agent, and receptionist jobs never contact me even though I qualify, and I see the same job on the Ohio means jobs list over and over, as if it's just a bogus job. Can they figure out how old I am? Sure, I can try to work at Giant Eagle, (big grocery store), but I can't stand for more than a half hour, or walk. Can you please advise?? Thanks

Well, you could apply for greeter at Wal-Mart. There is one at my local Wal-Mart who sits on her walker, I kid you not.

i'm sorry, but i too cannot take the foreign ones any more. i can't listen to it. i'm sick sick sick of trying to figure out what the h they're saying. if people have to keep saying WHAT to you in person, MAYBE you should take that as a sign that people can't understand you? and maybe you should enunciate a little more when you're dictating hmmm?? i HATE medical transcription!! i hate hate hate it! time to do something else.

I empathize with you 100%! Where on earth did they come from? It's like a tsunami of them! Now, granted, my background is not 100% pure United States American. I come from a family that speaks with an accent BUT THEY'RE UNDERSTANDABLE!!!! When my mother, grandfather, grandmother, father speak, they don't sound like they're speaking in their native tongue like these revenants do! I mean it, most of them sound like they're speaking Arabic. Honestly, can't something be done?

My biggest pet peeve are dictators who make chewing, smacking, slurping, and/or shlomping sounds while dictating. OFten they're chewing gum, but sometimes they're just making disgusting smacking noises such as "tsk." But they're all disgusting. Wish I could pull their hair out instead of mine!

Well, may I suggest a job search on Mars? Leave - the house, and you will find out why.

I highly suggest you get into another field. Go to school, even if it is to technical college, but get out of transcription. I was a rah-rah cheerleader, but even I have decided this is just a sinking ship. I wish I had gone into cosmetology. Most hairdressers I know are working 3-4 days per week and making double what I am. I never wanted to be a nurse, but I sure wish I had given it more thought 10-15 years ago. I would be far better off than I am now. I even took a Health Unit Coordinator program and got a certificate, but no luck finding a job at that and it doesn't pay very well I hear.

Here is how I think pay should be decided... 1. You are new you get 4 CPL until you prove yourself...quality, production, etc., then in 6 months you are evaluated and a raise could be granted, 3% of course. 2. Everyone should be evaluated on job performance once a year and if you are a good employee a raise should be granted. 3. I have decided if this plan does turn out bad I will just sit back and work as usual. I make close to minimum wage now as it is. If I end up making only MW it wont make much of a difference. With that being said, I'll just work everyday and not push my self super hard to meet line requirements (it seems they are getting rid of them) and I wont work my tail off trying to meet all these requirements. This was not an easy decision. I will be able to devote every day after Jan. 1st to find a job. At this point, all I have to do is find something that pays minimum wage, isn't that sad! Really, with this time of VR, who can actually be accountable for the errors in reports? My VR is HORRID. It will completely change the name of medications that the dictator dictates and on and on. of no work, unable to find a new MT job, or simply sick and tired of it? What did you decide to do? I feel like I'm a bit too old to return to school (not to mention I couldn't afford to do it anyway)......... This is a part-time 4 hour position, been at it for a month, and cannot get above 600 lines. I am editing on the Ex-Editor platform and I love it.
