I find it really upsetting when a MTSO - advertises they just

acquired a new large account.  My first thought is of the MTs that were doing that work and probably have been for a long time and have been forced out of a job or forced to accept the same job at a lower rate of pay.  But the service is so proud to offer a job at minimal pay to those still trying to make a living doing transcription.  I know that is the way things are, goodness knows I have heard that comment many times, but that still does not make it right.

I think a lot of in-house MTs are either living in a bubble or just don't want to know what's happening. It seems they are all so SHOCKED when the hospital outsources to the likes of MM, N, or whoever. Then they're SHOCKED when they learn of the pay if they choose to go with the national company. Then they're SHOCKED when they find out that after going with MM or N,or whoever, they don't get to keep that account.

Maybe in-house MTs simply don't keep up with where their career is going.

Note: This is only my experience. I realize it varies person to person.

When my in-house employer decided to outsource to N, I was not surprised that they outsourced. What surprised me was how quick it happened. Most of my coworkers had an idea of what was happening, where things were going, but we honestly thought we had more time.

Of course, the sugar coating was laid on thick, which of our group that went with N found to be nothing but lies. Of course, many of us did not get to keep our original account. We were told we would be the only ones on that account. Lie. Within 2 weeks of the transition, OOW hit. Of course, I got a secondary with crappy dictators and hit by QA every day, which has not changed to this day. Then, I got a decent clinic account, but the QA dings for everything. If I pend a report say for wrong worktype, she dings for that saying it should have been changed. Do they NOT read the comments in the pend note anymore?

Honestly, these MTSOs should be ashamed of themselves. I am tired of working for someone just so they can live a lavish lifestyle, where probably their biggest concern is keeping their girlfriend quiet by paying for a new Benz every year plus paying hush money. However, they don't care. Believe me when I say I cannot wait to get away from MT for good. I get tired of being asked why my fingers arent moving in ES every minute that I am clocked in and logged on. Last time I checked, I was human. We have functions to take care of. I make mistakes and really, I do NOT need your reminder of it. I have not complied with Fiasco checks/write-up signature and still refuse. I see nothing "educational" about it. I find it extremely degrading and there is absolutely nothing to be gained from it.

If you want me to increase my quality, then pay me a DECENT WAGE, then they will get your quality. Until then, I will continue status quo, which they seem happy with and accept.

does not change what you have been through but it sickens me that others think doing this to hardworking MTs is okay. The previous post stating that the in-house MTs should be aware of where their career is going must have been from a person that goes in and does the lying for the MTSO. The demands are really high for the MT transcribing the report and the pay really insulting. I really hope your days are numbered and that you can get out as soon as possible because no human deserves to be treated the way MTs have ended up being abused.

Thank you for being sympathetic, not just to myself but every MT on here that has went through this exact same thing. I feel for each and every one of them.

It sickens me as well. But what these MTSOs do not realize is if they keep poking the bear, they should be ready for the consequences of such...that being each and every one of their American MTs signing off and making them do the work so they actually get a taste of what it's like for us. Yes, we work at home but that does not explain the crappy way we are paid. It's a skilled job, not fast food. It's not like you just go get whatever person off the street to do this job. It takes actual knowledge to do this. Another thing I find insulting is the fact that Indian MTs are doing QA on American MTs...they cannot even make a legible sentence!

In my mind, you get what you pay for. You pay cheap, you get cheap work. It has long been found that if you spend the extra little bit for a better quality product, then it lasts a bit longer. This new metric thing that was announced today will eventually be used to penalize us in some way, shape or form, just another way to screw us out of more money. Karma is a...well...we all know what she is...and these MTSOs have it coming. Eventually what these Indian MTs do will kill a patient or patients and it will miraculously come to the limelight where our records are going...when we have been screaming for help for years.

It would be easier if they just paid state minimum wage and had an incentive program that was attainable by most, or went by minutes per hour instead of lines. Does not really matter now. MT is dead and I am out as soon as I can manage to do so.

To all the MTs, good luck to each of you. Lord knows we need it. I hope we all find a job that pays better, treats us better, and is worthy of our time and energy. MT is no way to live anymore.

It seems whenever I go to the doctor we get to talking about my profession, mainly because I am speak to them on their level (with medical terms, etc) because they are amazed that I am so informed.
