If I owned a MTSO company, and if I were monitoring this board in order to glean comments made about my company, and if I were unhappy with what I read, I would do the following:  I would send a company-wide e-mail to my people asking for their input on what I could do to make things better for them and correct the problems aired on this board.   I would realize that there are companies that would make life difficult for MTs who dare to complain about an injustice and that they need some place to vent without fear of reprisals.

Good ideas. Can I add to that? I would put out a newletter of some sort to keep the MTs in touch with each other and to get to know each other. MTs have some great ideas that could be profitable for the company and help other MTs improve their work. I wouldn't keep all the MTs in the dark and get nervous when they suggest they contact each other. This job is isolating enough without not having the opportunity to get to know your co-workers and maybe develop some healthy friendships.

Nothing has gotten better, gave totally honest answers, I am now being QA'd every 2 weeks after years of being with KS.

Phone call with owner assuring everyone the company was doing great and absolutely no jobs were in jeapady. They even posted an add for MTs on this site. Four days after the call, HR went down the list laying off employees because they lost their main account. They knew this was going to happen... they simply lied to keep MTs from a mass exodus.

Do you even know anything about the company? That was not their "main" account; there is no such thing. It was one of their big accounts, one of about 15, others bigger than that one. The reason people were let go had nothing to do with that; most of the MT's on the account were put on other accounts. There were people hired to fill the other needs. The MT's that were let go should have been let go before that. They were not placed on other accounts because they had poor QA, worked very part time or had a bad work history. Nothing more, nothing less. I love my new account, and I am happy that several other team members are on the same account. They posted an AD on this site because they had openings. No jobs were in JEOPARDY because of losing one account.

Only an insider (office/management) would know this information especially if others were put onto other accounts, QA, time worked, etc.

Definitely an insider. You are so isolated you don't know nothing about the company until they tell you at the last minute and then it's what they want you to know. You don't know who is on your account, just the name of your lead and maybe the coordinator. Most of the time they don't respond.

I called and e-mailed the coordinator many times regarding no work asking for an additional account, with no response ever. I then called HR and was told she could not help me or discuss it with me that I had to go through the coordinator. Then they wonder why we have attitudes.

Well for a year I had hardly any work and I asked for a secondary. They said they had none available for me. Then they contacted me and told me they had one starting and for me to buy a foot pedal, which I did. A month later when the account was suppose to start, no account. Wasted money. Then a couple of months later they offered me a new account and a month later I was terminated.
I never said what my position is, but if you must know, I am on the QA team. sm - Proud of it

I have been an MTSO, a CCM for other companies, an MT for longer than I care to admit and in QA for almost as long. I have worked for huge companies like MQ, large companies like Webmedx and Keystrokes and very small companies. Each has its pros and cons, and not one has been perfect. I don't deflame or defend any of them unnecessarily, but I will correct things I see that are not true. Maybe Keystrokes should've handled it differently, and I really don't know how they told those that they let go when they were let go, but I do know how it all came to be. I, for one, am glad that other account is gone, and I am sure that others are too. I feel sorry for the MQ MT's who are going to be on it because it is not easy to work on but I am sure that it will be on ASR right away anyway. I also think that some of the MT's should have been let go long before that day came last week.

How does an MT work for 2-1/2 years, only 1 QA done during that entire time (of above 99%), then get QA'd, because you lost an account (in your words a "beast of an account and you all are the best of the best"), and get fired? No second QA as promised in 2 weeks...you call that professional? I have never experienced anything like it in 15 years. I was so fooled by this company...

I really feel for you. I understand, I felt like scum when they did that to me. I had never been QA much either and they had been fine. They probably will hire newbies back for a cheaper rate.

I, for one, love the newsletter. I answer the surveys and have seen results, although not always what I want when I want it. LOL. Somehow, though, this thread became yet another place for some people to get ugly and personally attack the owner. I don't know her, have only talked to her twice in 7 years, but I have never had any problems either.

In my opinion, all transcription companies could use some improvement.

you would all complain because they didn't do exactly as YOU think they should. Face it, this board is a NO-WIN for any MTSO who dares show their face and dares try to be reasonable.

There's a reason there are unhappy MTs and for the most part it has NOTHING to do with the MTSO, the service they run, or anything else. Some MTs just aren't good enough to BE happy (not saying ALL - I don't speak in the same absolutes that many posters here do).

The whole US against THEM mindset that permeates here is not at all helpful, quite the opposite in fact. But there will be unhappy people, no matter what you give them.

My job would be gone in a New York minute if I dared intimate that I saw room for improvement, after which a situation that had been bad before would go to worse. I would never again have Dr. Joe American cross my desk, I'd be relegated to VR Hades, QA would be finding missed commas and overused commas, and little hearts over my I's instead of dots.

Until there's an easy way to mask my IP address, I can't see sending anything that does just drip with sunshine, no matter how farcical it is, to the boss.

Maybe one of those emails that tells them how much I love them and think they're the greatest company there ever was and to not pay attention to all the mean girls on the MT boards because they're just bitter losers that really don't know how to do the job and I appreciate them and know that I should be happy to have any job 'cuz I'm just like Dobby the House Slave but I'm an MTSO slave but that's okay 'cuz they're really swell!!!!!!!!!!

How does one go about collecting money from a small MTSO who still owes me $1,049 for transcription I had done for them?  I quit working for them in May 2009 when I hadn't received payment.  I sent them several e-mails and they did pay me some of the money owed me.  Originally they owed me $2,049; paid me with one check for $500, then two more checks for $200 each, which were sent to me every few months in between.  They kept telling me they would pay me off the com ...

The little "trinkets" some of you have received is extremely comical and a so-called slap in the face to some, but some may view it as an actual good gesture, although I do not agree. When I worked at neurology they used to always acknowledge MT week with flowers or a $25 gift card to our local mall, but when they got a new office manager he combined Secretary's Week and MT Week into one. It seems whenever I go to the doctor we get to talking about my profession, mainly because I am speak to them on their level (with medical terms, etc) because they are amazed that I am so informed. Is every MTSO in this field rotten, and do they really hate us? Does it bring them money to get people to quit and then rehire all the time?
