I am here when you hired me to be here. I am ready and willing to work. But there is no work.

My account is a secondary for a bunch of people. So some other doctor or hospital is slow and you come over and eat up all my work.

SO depressing!!!!!! I should just get a summer job. There is never any work in the summer anyway.

They overhire and we turn against each other. - anon

I hate running out of work also and find myself getting grouchy that others are taking "my" work.

However, the MTSOs overhire and none of it is "our" work. We all work for the same place and we all have an expectation to be provided work. If my account is low, you can bet your bippy I will be asking for a secondary or more account.

At this point, I requested a ridiculously early morning shift so if I run out I have all day to flex and get my lines in becuase in the end that's all that matters to me.

What about the rest of us who work our schedules and if you were not flexing, we would have "our" work? Unbelievable. Can you not change your schedule to work when the work is available? I work the 2nd shift so I have less NJA, but my primary runs low (because of people flexing) and I get bounced a lot, driving down my line counts. You are right in one sense, this strategy makes us turn on each other, survival of the fittest or MTs who will do anything to get their lines, no matter the cost to anyone else.

I worked a shift where I had zero time to flex when my shift had no work (late evening). I have kids to feed and bills to pay. So, yeah,I changed my schedule the frist chance I got (and trust me it is a horrible schedule, it is so early as to really be the middle of the night). I show up for my schedule, never late, never ask for holidays off and I need my lines.

It is not my fault that they overhire or that they don't fire flaky MTs who DO NOT show up for their scheduled shift. They are the ones you should take issue with, not the person who works their shift and is FORCED to flex.

In the end though, the work is not dedicated in this industry and it never has been, so I am not "stealing" someone elses work. It is dog eat dog and I am not the one that is going to be wearing milk bone underwear.

MT is a cutthroat business. Unfortunately, it's - the MTs whose throats that get slit. N/M

during your supposed pre-arranged and agreed upon shift so you can file for unemployment benefits for the difference. We need to all start doing this so the MTSOs may learn how to better manage staffing and hiring.

I will never understand why companies over hire, we were ontop of TAT. In 2 weeks we have gone from 100s of files to 20 and fighting each other for them. 1200 lines to 400 a day ? Amazing the amount of job hopping necessary to support our families as most of type long hours, low pay to support our families. I have an opportunity to get a brand new MAC as a gift. My boyfriend has an extra one. I work on the BeyondText platform and remember seeing someone on here had a MAC but had a way to split it so her Windows programs ran on the MAC somehow. Tech support at Transcend says it won't work on a MAC. Or maybe I was wondering if an external driver could be used that was Windows and would run on the MAC. Probably a pipe dream, but a MAC! I just came on shift and the system is sluggish, taking forever to download jobs and to switch between screens for ADT. As if that wasn't delightful enough, I just got the dreaded "unable to provide further audio" on the only decent-length job I've had, and I was actually able to hear it just fine. I tested with Opti-Script less than 2 months ago and I was told that I passed, but that there was a waiting list to be hired and that they would contact me as soon as they had openings.
