Running out of work low lines - dejavue

I will never understand why companies over hire, we were ontop of TAT. In 2 weeks we have gone from 100s of files to 20 and fighting each other for them. 1200 lines to 400 a day ? Amazing the amount of job hopping necessary to support our families as most of type long hours, low pay to support our families. I am sickened by the thought of losing another job to no lines and the financial downfall it will have on my family..... I do not want to name company as I fear retaliation.. ok off to the nationwide listing of A-Z companies to again start sending out resume after resume until my vision is blurred and my fingers can do no more tonite ...

Hi. I am in the same situation as you. I had 3027 lines on my payroll that just closed which was about 4000+ short. Second time in a month. I also am freaking out about finding something else. I called them and they assured me that it is just slow, but I kind of think something is going on. It is very sudden, last month or so. Maybe we are at same place. Anyway, good luck! I found a part time job, that is all I wanted and I had to find another part time job, because I kept running out of work. I just don't get it. Don't these companies realize MTs will quit to find a better position(yeah right). I am beginning to see a pattern as this has happened to me twice. They take overload of a bridge account until someone can probably get set up in India, hire, hire, hire, work us to death for about two weeks and then that is it. I am praying these two places work out, because if they don't, I have got to try and find something else. My state of mind can no longer take this.

When the drying up of work started at MDI-MD, we were given every excuse in the book about why suddenly we had no work (I'm sure you've read the horror stories of how THAT went down). Working nights/early morning, I was on doing a few straggler urology notes that were all on the system. I was ready to sign out when all of a sudden about 30 reports for their huge pediatric oncology clinic showed up, all dictations being 2 days old and obviously out of TAT.

That's when I knew my suspicions were correct, SOMETHING was going on. MDI-MD was as big on TAT as any other MTSO and there's no way those reports had been sitting in the cue for the MDI-MD transcriptionists; they had been somewhere, whether it was offshored or to another MTSO, and they had obviously fallen out of TAT.

So, hope for the best but prepare for the worst. When work inexplicably starts drying up, there's usually a reason for it...A reason the MTSO doesn't want you to know until everything's all wrapped up on their end.

How many lines do you average per day - VR and traditional? I know it's been VERY slow lately, but when things are going well, how many lines do you normally get? I have an opportunity to get a brand new MAC as a gift. My boyfriend has an extra one. I work on the BeyondText platform and remember seeing someone on here had a MAC but had a way to split it so her Windows programs ran on the MAC somehow. Tech support at Transcend says it won't work on a MAC. Or maybe I was wondering if an external driver could be used that was Windows and would run on the MAC. Probably a pipe dream, but a MAC!
