You get PTO at MModal - Some companies use - sick days and PTO interchangably.

If you get sick, call off and you will be paid PTO for it unless you choose to make up the time.

also 11 vacation days (starts at 10, accrues a day yearly), 10 paid holidays, and 2 personal days. Wish the pay was better, but this definitely helps.

With my last job, where I had been for a long time, I had 3 holidays (and 2 paid sick days), with 5 weeks vacation. I miss that!

At MModal, you also have to use your PTO for when there's no work. Either that, or make up the time when they say they need it, or lose the day.

I get 3 weeks vacation right now (goes as high as 7 weeks after I believe 12 years) and 6 paid holidays. That's one of the reasons why I don't mind that I'm an employee, although I'd love the flexibility of being an IC.

With 3 to 7 weeks of vacation time in a given year, I'd say you have all the flexibility I would ever want or need!!! That plus 6 paid holidays plus benefits--all add up to being so much better than being an IC, any day!

The benefits thing has become such a crock. I don't know of any MTSOs who offer true sick leave, although there may be some I'm not aware of, just haven't run across any in 12 years.

See link for the Feds list of things employers DO NOT have to offer their employees, subject to some States' regulations, except for OT requirements which also can vary by State. Probably why MTSOs are not willing to hire from some States due to their labor laws.

When I worked retail in another State, I think it was State law that a 15-minute break had to be taken every 5 or 6 hours of working, and it was paid, no clocking in and out for breaks. Makes it kind of nice for employers that they really don't have to offer any benefits if it so suits them. I don't think some professions would maintain much of a quality work force with the only benefit being to work from home in PJs.

When I worked in hospital in the lab, they gave us 1 sick day per month, meaning SICK LEAVE, not take out of your vacation time,and it accumlated and unused sick leave was paid out when I left, in addition to unused vacation time. Granted, some people thought it was okay to use their sick day per month as an extra vacation day whether they were sick or not, but management caught onto that in most cases.

When we worked a holiday in the lab, it was a TRUE paid holiday, meaning time and a half and actually double time for Christmas at one place, plus the pathologists brought us in Christmas dinner. Did not matter if we were chasing our tails all day so busy or were sitting waiting all day because was slow, we still got paid for being there on our shift. If we sat with not much work, although there was always maintenance and things like that to be worked on, we were not asked to make it up because we didn't do X amount of lab tests that shift. If you were off, you got paid your full regular pay. If you worked, they gave you an extra day off with pay, and the supervisor usually tried to arrange a long weekend for us.

Sorry so long and kind of rambling around your original question, but those of you who have worked in-house will know what I mean. I am glad to have an MT job because I actually enjoy the work, how much longer I will stick with it, I don't know, but I am not doing it because I can work in my PJs and pay all of my expenses as an employee with no benefits to speak of. At least Medquist, when I was there years ago, provided a computer and compensated for extra phone line or internet. Don't know what they offer now, but may look into it.

Just earn 4 hours per 2-week pay period. Time is put into a pool known as PTO. PTO is to be used for sick, vacation, lack of work, internet/computer problems, or holiday if lucky enough to be granted a holiday off. Too many things to cover with such a small amount of time. Ridiculous.

This was a wonderful company to work for at first and now we have new QA people and I can't stand my job. Here I am, getting shuffled around in the 'cesspool', a dozen unfamilar accounts. You have your decent accounts with just the basics. Then, you have the CPs that are a long as novels and, if you miss something, you will hear about it, the fact it is in the CP and you shouldn't make such a mistake. I already spend so much time reading CPs, that I then get warnings that my production has fallen. So much for a consistent layout of CPs. I have to hunt for desired PE format, etc... ...

i know this has been mentioned in here, but what is up with whole sections of a note done by ASR being missing?  its bad enough that we get paid nothing to do this ASR crap, but when we have to actually transcribe whole sections we should be getting paid at the straight typing rate.  i'm so close to just wiping out these ASR dictations and just typing them but i don't know how to do that...to change it from ASR to regular.  i'm sure i'd get yelled at anyway. &n ...

they decide to do the "nice" thing and spell it out ONLY to SLUR ALL THE WAY through the medication so that you have absolutely NO idea what medication they are trying to say.  And then it really ticks me off when the MTSO tells me that we "need to do our absolute best on spelling these medications because the doctor is complaining."  OMGGGGGGGGGG shouldn't this be HIS/HER responsibility??!!!???  This is a pretty dang important part of a patient's medical record!  H ...
