Has anyone ever used ergo bead wrist supports - cindy

Posted: Jun 26, 2011

Found this on transcrpitiongear.com (I have ordered equipment from them before and been happy with all purchases) and was wondering if it worked well but no reviews on it yet.  The descriptions says:

"ergoBeads™ are like no other wrist rests or stress balls. Ergonomically designed by an orthopedic surgeon, ergoBeads™ provide optimal comfort for your wrists and hands. Made of cotton Lycra, they are soft and cool against your skin. The smooth plastic bead filling gently supports and massages your hands and wrists. ergoBeads™ are squeezable and fun!

ergoBeads™ cushion and massage your wrist, contour to your keyboard and mouse, are squeezable for stress relief and ideal for isometric hand strengthening. Freeze your ergoBeads™ and enjoy that cooling "aah" sensation that comes from the relief of headache, neck, and wrist pain."

I am typing twice as much now than I was before and was wondering if this would help with all the hand and wrist pain.  I have a microsoft soft curve keyboard and the traditional gel strips for your wrist do not work well with it as it is curvey and not straight.  Any info much appreciated.

I purchased this wrist support probably about five years ago. It is now in the bottom drawer of my armoire and will no doubt stay there, or I will end up throwing it out. It is designed in a "tube like" structure and is much "higher" than the edge of the keyboard and it becomes very uncomfortable after a while. Your wrists "sink into" it and then they are "stuck" in that position, unless you pick up the "tube sock" and rearrange the beads. I found it to be much like one of those visco elastic mattresses where you sink in as you lie in one spot, and find it difficult to move or change positions after a while. They also make my wrists sweat and it is very uncomfortable. Yes, they are "fun to play with" but that is about it. It reminds me of a sex toy, but I cannot use it for a wrist support. It also does not stay in place where you put it. I also have the microsoft curve keyboard and as much as you would think that it would adjust to fit around the curves, it does not. It slips and slides because it is so much thicker and higher than the keyboard. It was not worth the cost I spent on it, truly. But others may have good experiences with them...I surely didn't. I can send you mine just to get it out of my drawer?? People look at me strangely when they see it. "What is that?" they say, thinking something indecent. ha ha. Good luck if you purchase one.

I use it! - Susie

I have been using one for about a year now. It has helped a lot with the hand pain I used to have. If I remember right, it cost about $15.00. I got mine at Staples. Give it a try.

Carpal Tunnel & Ergo Keyboards
Nov 12, 2011

I was wondering if anyone has tried either the Kinesis contoured, Kinesis Freestyle, Goldtouch, or SafeType keyboards. I am using a Microsoft ergo split keyboard now, but I am having more and more pain and numb/weird feelings in my arms and hands. It's getting to the point where I am having a lot of difficulty typing. I definitely need to invest in a more high-end ergo keyboard, but they are quite expensive and I am not sure which one would be best. Just looking for any experiences and pro ...
