Are you paid for expanded macros? - MTbell

I just recently started on a new account where there are lots of macros we have to spend time choosing and selecting carefully. I'm not sure if I'm even getting paid for the fully expanded macros or just wasting time while the doc mumbles and fumbles about which macros to choose and all for free. I have an E-mail in to the supervisor, but the more advanced technology gets in this field, the more it seems we work for free.

I'm venturing that we do not get paid for the full macro, thus the time sifting through the selection process is all done for free.

that is visible on the report -- headers, footers, chart copies, macros, etc.

I always add the macro to my Instant Text - no1joe

or to my Auto Correct (if the macro is short enough) in Word to avoid that problem. I refuse to do anything for free. Adding it also makes it easier to assign your own short cut for it instead of sifting through a drop-down list (if that applies) and wasting time. Good luck! : )

it's M*Modal and the macros are already built into the system (and have no idea what they say or how long they are). We have to select the macro from the list on the macro screen.

When I used any other Word-based platform I had my own macros set up and saw them expand in the document.

M*Modal's my SR system, too, MtBell, but it has nothing to do - Fellow Traveller

with my expander and the scripts I create and store in it. Are you by any chance referring to "templates," or basic reports you can download and adjust as necessary? If you are, I do get paid for template lines.

My expander is a program (Shorthand in my case)I purchased and downloaded on line and have now used with 5 platforms through 2 companies.

I use Shorthand along with M-Modal without any - problem. nm

and then just copy and paste if you can't load them into an expander.

If a doc says "nitro" and the account wants expansion of slang, does nitro get expanded to nitroglycerin or might there be other expansions? If there were other expansions and I wasn't sure then I would just leave it blank. My drug book has other drugs beginning with nitro but not sure if "nitro" is slang specifically for nitroglycerin. I'm a former employee, now working as an IC, and had been so used to all the macros that were built into Microsoft Word when they installed Dictatphone/ExEditor. Unfortunately, you can only access those while ExEditor is open, and I forgot to copy them out of there so I could use them later. Any chance I could get someone on here that is still working on ExEditor to copy their macros and paste them here? Essentially you'd just need to be in ExEditor with Word open... then ...

My account has capped and bolded headings. For some reason, VR NEVER bolds. I guess it isn't capable of doing so! I've been working with my company for almost a year now and i'm wondering if I should start looking around at other compaines.
