working for Acusis is an honor! - ME

Posted: Dec 11, 2013

I have to say... working for Acusis is an honor!  This company treats their employees with the utmost respect, fiinds work when needed and has contests for employees.  I recently won a gift card and received a holiday gift on top of that.  This company is an example of who to work for if anyone needs to work.  Amphion, observe and learn from this company and how they treat their people!!

I'll also add that the team leads NEVER send out hate mail or threatening emails when work is close to TAT... no, they have incentives and they again, respect their people. The IT people are from India and show nothing BUT respect to everyone! Thumbs up for Acusis!!

I agree, Acusis is really good to work for, bar none. - smeeps

Oh, yeah. The Indian IT people are FANTASTIC, - just as long as you never ask - S/M

them a question that isn't sitting right in front of them in their handbooks. If the answer isn't there, they don't even know where to look to find it. Also, unless you enjoy continually having to replace PCs that have been fried by Acusis' software, don't let them download anything onto it.

Acusis - ME

[ In Reply To ..]
Nope, no problem there either. My PC works just fine. IT people are always there and always helpful. LOL, y'all must be talking about another company.
You sure don't sound like anyone who works - for Acusis as an actual MT or ME.

Their transcriptionists/editors are sick of all the b.s., and are hurting moneywise. They're also convinced that the day is coming when Acusis will go back to being an all-India company again someday.

Was your holiday gift a starfish? - Curious

[ In Reply To ..]
I remember a couple of Christmases back a long thread that was full of jokes about Acusis sending out a stuffed starfish with the Acusis logo on it.

In all seriousness, I kinda wanted to buy one just because of all the jokes about it made it sound kind of adorable, LOL!

I'm glad to hear they're good a fit for you. I've thought about applying there in the past but there was a lack of work or something going on, according to these boards. I gather they've got that all straightened out, judging by today's posts.

Anyway, just curious...Was it the infamous starfish???

Acusis - ME

No, it was an additional gift card. :)

Once when I worked for MedQuist, they gave chapsticks on a little chain. Really, that was their Christmas gift. I was underwhelmed.

Well, even before the holidays, they have everyone has treated me with respect. It began from HR, to the trainer and on down to my TLs. ALL have been outstanding people to work under. They have incentives all this month that everyone can enter. It's just amazing and I'm not even off 100% full hold yet. Excited to see what the new year brings while working for them. :)
Acusis testing - WASHMT
[ In Reply To ..]
I went to the web site of Acusis and it said their testing can take 150-180 minutes. I could not believe that. What I am wondering, what if you take all that time and don't pass it or is it one of those tests where they will notify you that you can't go the next section because you didn't pass? Also it is through MTTest? After taking so many of those tests and wasting my time and energy and never passing or never hearing back, I am leery of taking one again.
Acusis - ME
[ In Reply To ..]
I didn't take that long when I tested. The tests were pretty easy for me. I had a response back the next day.
Acusis - ME
[ In Reply To ..]
If I remember correctly, there were 2 oe 3 transcription tests and that was it.
You're still on full hold? No wonder you've got - stars in your eyes. Youre still too new -

to have experienced all the things Acusis has to offer when it comes to ever-lowering pay, lousier software to work on every year or so, and the Job Descriptions from Hell. Unless of course you happen to enjoy wading through 50 pages of job specifications for not only each account you type, but each individual dictator. It's a complete nightmare.

Once you're off full hold, if you aren't able to produce enough work to have your income average out to minimum wage, it will be suggested that you "adjust" the hours on your online time recording sheet downward until your line count comes out to numbers that equal minimum wage. Trust me, after you've worked there for a while, and experienced some of the company changes that will come along every so often to chip away at your pay, minimum wage would actually be an improvement.
Acusis - ME
[ In Reply To ..]
Let me set the record straight. I am on full hold only for my 3rd account that I've been assigned to. I was released from full hold after 1 week on my first account, released after 3 days on the second account and only 1 page of specs for all accounts. You must be referring to another company.
No, there's no mistaking the company I'm talking - about is Acusis. You just havent - S/M
[ In Reply To ..]
been there long enough to know how adept they are at skimming every cent they can off their MTs' paychecks. You're still in the "honeymoon" period most new employees experience to some extent or another. But hang in there, work for them for a year, maybe two, and then get back to us on whether you're still making as much money 2 years from now. Chances are, you'll be making less. Or else you'll be working ever-increasing hours in order to maintain your income at its current level.
I got a Walmart gift card from MModal last year. - nm

Acusis underwhelms, as well. All you have - to do to know what its like -
[ In Reply To ..]
to work at Acusis is to read the M*Modal and Nuance boards. Acusis may not be quite as big a company, but when it comes to pure evil, it's just like them.

Your post made me LOL! I'm not the OP, - but I was a starfish recipient.

[ In Reply To ..]
I still have it. Or rather, my cat does. It's now his personal pillow. I've moved on from Acusis to other work, and now have the luxury of actually being able to pay my bills again. I keep the starfish, not only because my cat likes it, but also because every time I look at it, it reminds me of the financial nightmare I lived through, all those years I worked there.

I have no idea.

Do they hire IC or employee? Do you know their pay range? sm - Inquiringmindswanttoknow

[ In Reply To ..]

Do they hire PT and FT? Is it straight typing, editing or a combo? Is it a set schedule or a 12 or 24 hour window? How many lines are required in an 8 hour shift? What is their definition of a line?

Thanks for the heads up!

Acusis - WASHMT

[ In Reply To ..]
Go to their web site and you can find out exactly what they require. I filled out the application and got an immediate response, albeit, computer generated to take the test. The e-mail said to allow two hours; again, do I want to do this????? You have six days to do it after you receive the e-mail, but must finish it all at once. I think they are at least worth checking out from what I have read here. Just read on the M*Modal page what the MTs say about applying there! WOW, no way!

Acusis - smeeps

[ In Reply To ..]
Part-time, it's a payment matrix, kinda hard to explain, different turnaround times get different rates. I'd say 85% VR and 15% typing. 65 character line, 1000 lines in a 4 hour shift. Shared work-pool, so JUMP on jobs when they come in. I say go for it!!

Acusis - ME

[ In Reply To ..]
They're not saying the truth. Honest. It's your choice of course, but I stopped wasting my time with other companies.

Acusis is an M*Modal wannabe. - And theyre closing the gap.

I just got an offer from Acusis - SkepticalMT
[ In Reply To ..]
and the pay scale they sent me was so confusing - I have no idea what they are actually offering me. There are so many variables. I could make this if I type really fast and try really hard, but I could also make this if I send things to QA and don't type like mad. My head is still spinning from the "Roadmap" they sent me. Probably will be passing on this offer. I prefer things to be black and white and crystal clear before I enter into a work contract. Just an FYI for anyone else considering.

Lookl up their website. You should be able to find all your answers there.

Three pay tiers: Low, lower, and foodstamp - POVERTY-LEVEL.

That sure sounds like HR/Management propaganda! - I worked there for years, and - S/M

[ In Reply To ..]
I disagree with you. The pay stinks, and they have their chintzy little "contests" where, after jumping through their hoops, you get your name thrown in a hat for a drawing, rather than just giving us what we really needed - decent pay per line, and QA that doesn't make up faux "MT mistakes" when supposedly "randomly" checking our work.

What's so "great" about working for a company that continually lowers the pay and benefits of their workers? NOTHING.

Acusis - me

[ In Reply To ..]
Boy I'd like to know what part of the company you were in. I was given the wrong account specifics, during training had to wait up to an hour to get a file, the trainer never answered messenger. Then there are the Indian editors - they did not follow account specifics and depending on who you got, you could have the same thing marked 2 ways (your pay depends on errors). Some they marked were gross HIPAA violations (guessing at the first name of the doctor). Email after email saying why aren't you on messenger, when it wouldn't stay connected. Had one email asking why I didn't work a day when I did and had the lines showing to prove it. Respect? That's a joke.
