question about Globespan transcription - ep

I am just wondering if there was anybody else who was having trouble trying to contact this company in order to apply for a position that is on another board. I can not get through --was wondering if it was me or my computer or them

I worked for them doing both medical and legal transcription for almost 9 months with very few problems other than relatively low pay. I received an email telling me that I had breached my contract. When I questioned my supervisor as to how I had breached my contract she told me that I had contacted a client. I had no way of even knowing how I would have gone about contacting any of the clients in the first place. I tried contacting them by phone several times after this to get proof that the client had reported that I contacted them, but as soon as I gave my name they hung up on me. I got another email a few days later telling me that I was not to contact them in any way, shape, or form. I couldn't get in touch with them about my 1099. They didn't even send out my 1099 until I contacted the IRS myself and explained that I was no longer able to get a response from them about my taxes paperwork. I finally got it in June. I never even got the last two paychecks they owed me. It turned into the worst job experience I have ever had. I have a friend who still does legal transcription for this company and she told me that within a few weeks two more transcriptionists that she knew within the company who had not been there for an entire year received the same email telling them that they had breached their contracts. I still have no clue which client they were accusing me of contacting to this day. Please be very careful if you do decide to take on employment with this company.

I am trying to apply at Globespan but when I try to download my resume onto the online application I keep getting an error message. You are supposed to download it in Word or pdf format. I thought I was downloading it in Word, but it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone out there know what would cause this not to work? Oh, they don't outsource! You also have to have your own computer, foot pedal and Express Scribe program...oh, they will send and receive. Is prostitution legal in California..don't know all the laws from state-to-state. Better Google that. ...

Would someone explain to me how is that this company can legally pay us a lower rate for ASR compared to transcription? After they pushed ASR on me, (said that I wouldn't ever get a 50:50 ratio of ASR to transcription) I am getting mostly ASR work. My pay has dropped significantly. Can they do this? ...

Since the advent of voice recognition and overseas outsourcing, transcription has ceased to be a profession. I will NEVER -- repeat, NEVER make the money I was making as a transcriptionist at a hospital 5 years ago, before we were replaced by VR and cheap outsourcing to India. It seems that everyone has negative things to say about how employers do not pay MTs what they're worth and how they offshore the easy stuff, but pile on the lousy ESL stuff on the transcriptionists in the States. Too bad there can't be a general strike of U.S. MTs - a day without transcription - just to show how we're needed. It seems to be the only thing employers would understand.
