Anyone know anything about CLK Transcription, out of Pennsylvania? Thinking of applying. Appreciate whatever info you can share - Thanks!

It takes 3 to 4 hours to transcribe 1 audio hour. So at the rate they offer, you will be making between $4 and $7 PER HOUR.

It can be more difficult to transcribe general transcription, because at least with medical you are familiar with the subject matter. With general, you have no idea what you'll be typing about, will be able to use very few shortcuts, will be totally unfamiliar with ALL dictators, etc.

If you do a search for transcription forums, there is one out there that is mostly general, they can give you more info. Those folks get $75 to $100+ per audio hour. There's a reason this company won't take time to debate their rate. They don't have a leg to stand on.

Actually, I don't know anything about that actual company itself. Except that they are taking huge advantage of folks who are desperate for money and a job, and don't know any better. But now you do.

I do interview/general transcription and charge - interview transcriptionist

$120 per audio hour and my rate is in the middle. When I hire ICs I pay them $60 per audio hour so I cannot believe any company would pay $21 per audio hour, that is about $5/hour because it takes at least 4 hours to transcribe 1 hour of audio. I think this company works mostly for journalists who are notorious for unreasonably discounted rates so she probably doesn't make much herself therefore cannot afford to pay a decent rate to her ICs.

I've never heard of ANYONE working for that wage - at least not for long, once they figure out how much work they're doing for how little money. To say that's the "national norm" is total BS.

With any pay per minute/hour etc, think at LEAST 1.00/minute... so one hour of dictation should be at least no less than $60.00... when they offer 21.00/hour of dictation... that is not a living wage...that's a dying wage. :)

Would someone explain to me how is that this company can legally pay us a lower rate for ASR compared to transcription? Since the advent of voice recognition and overseas outsourcing, transcription has ceased to be a profession. I will NEVER -- repeat, NEVER make the money I was making as a transcriptionist at a hospital 5 years ago, before we were replaced by VR and cheap outsourcing to India. It seems that everyone has negative things to say about how employers do not pay MTs what they're worth and how they offshore the easy stuff, but pile on the lousy ESL stuff on the transcriptionists in the States.
