Working Turkey Day? - nn

Misery loves company you know. Who is working with me this Thanksgiving? I was new enough and didn't have PTO to even try to get day off. Making pies night before. Will put turkey in oven while I work and daughters will be taking over handling the rest. I should be able to pop into the kitchen now and again to make sure things are going well. (Their hearts are big, but they are not really the best of cooks). With any luck we can all eat together for a dinner about 5 p.m. Then later that evening, guess what.... back to the slave mines for a couple of hours. With any luck the lines will be cleaned out. My family tends to hang around after meals (and before) and play board games, cards, and just socialize. I will probably (if I have to work that evening) take many more "short" breaks than usual. How are you all coping?

I have understanding friends who live nearby. I will just take an extended lunch hour and go to their place for the dinner. Someday soon I will take them all out to dinner to pay them back. Happy Turkey Day!

I don't have PTO built up for the day off either, but my schedule will allow me to prepare the dinner and have dinner with my family. For that, I am thankful, and I am very thankful to have a job in this day and age.

I am working Thanksgiving, too. I will miss being with family as it is being celebrated elsewhere, but I am thankful to have a job.

I have an odd question. If a US trained Medical Transcriptionist works from home (in the U.S.), but then decides to spend 1/2 the year (or more) in a foreign country, is it possible (ethical/legal) to continue working as an MT while in that country? The MT would keep the US address, and bank account. All paychecks would continue to be direct deposited into current U.S. bank account. MT would continue to pay U.S. taxes on all monies earned. I know I am not the only one working 2 jobs or more. Between them I am scheduled 68 hours per week. I have them spread out enough I have "long breaks" in between to fix supper, take a little me time out around the lunch hour and housework kind of gets slighted.
