Webmedx Lines - curious

Posted: Aug 17, 2010

So, I am doing the same amount of work, frantically and furiously trying to make up for our pay cut because we have such a GREAT new VR engine, and the lines are coming REALLY hard.  Am I the only one that has noticed this?  Guess maybe I could be a bit paranoid with the upper management that we have inherited from Medquist, and we all know how Medquist cheated their employees with their line scam. Hmmmmm.

I actually did a check to see if it was reporting correctly and it is basically spot on. I think theirs was even 0.4 higher on one report.

Seems you got someone from Spheris too. - Nonami

Was there something with the line counts there as well or are you commenting on my post? If you are commenting on my post, please explain.

I have definitely noticed this too - not amused

It is odd how I can do much more work on new version (many more minutes per hour of dictation than on native version) but my line counts are always so much lower on new version. I think there is something fishy going on with the line counts in new version. My shrinking paycheck seems to be a testimony to this : (

I took the time yesterday to check the line counts. I did a quick paste into Open Office and did a character count which was the same as the summary had (characters divided by 65). If you want to be all paranoid and think I am some weird spy go ahead. I wanted to be sure-- just like you.

The reason for the shrinking check, as I had this as well, I went and looked at my lines. I have about 50% editing and 50% straight transcription whereas before I had about 80% straight and 20% editing. Even though I suck at math, even I can tell that would leave you with less money.

The line counts seem on. As far as whether we get paid fairly, that is a different story. I don't see the increase in lines with the new system to make up for the decrease in pay. But there is nothing wrong (as far as my experiment) with the way the lines are being counted.

And I take huge offense to the person above who basically called me a liar. I took the time out of my day to do this experiment. Time I cannot really afford but thought it was worth it. It is so stupid that people can come on here and with absolutely no evidence at all say I am some Spheris person? or I was from Spheris? Wow. Absolutely insane.

I have to agree - -

Used to do the same cut, paste and divide by 65 on many of my reports, just to keep my interest going for the next long H&P. Always came out accurate. The "line tampering" seems to be an ongoing rumor wherever I work-- inhouse at hospital, for MTSO, etc. Anyone, repeat *anyone* can do this and check for themselves. There was one report where Dr. Motormouth dictated 22 lines in the first 60 seconds of a 10-minute report. Great, I thought. I'll get 200 lines at this rate. It ended up being a little over 100 lines. I was furious and convinced of fraud. Did the cut and paste-- it was accurate. He had dictated long lists of meds and problems and subsets, and it ended up being a bust for the lines. But please, please learn to cut and paste into Word and check the "total characters including spaces," and divide that by 65 on your PC calculator. If you are really concerned about tampering, this little experiment will be worth it for the peace of mind.

Thank you very much, Bipsakawastoo, for your - Poppy

very valuable input. And thanks to "I have to agree" too. Not that I suspected Webmedx of anything wrong, but this very thing did really happen to me at another company, so with the question publicly raised your check is especially welcome.

Although there was much to like about that other large company, I left for Webmedx after being systematically lied to by my account manager and cheated on line counts on my main account for months. I could have taken the truth that they were in danger of losing the account, but that was too much honesty for us.

There is quite a different feeling between the two companies, with far more answers and explanations provided at Webmedx to issues that were never explained, even in response to direct questions, at the other. Among other things, I know exactly how my production compares to everyone other MT on a monthly basis, something I wasn't allowed to know at the other.

Overall, my feeling has always been that Webmedx is trying to be as open and fair as a business can be in trying times.

Doesn't match up...SM - not amused

I'm sorry if you thought I was calling you a liar. That's not what I intended. I was just voicing the fact that I have noticed this as well. There is a problem with the way lines are counted in the new version software. I have had a few reports with no dictation that I ended up receiving a negative line count for. Keep an eye on those no dictation reports or abandoned jobs and you will see the negative lines. I have seen it happen on 2 different accounts that I am on.
Not amused, I got an e-mail on those negative - Anon.

line-count reports. It instructed us to, I think, not delete unused headings, and whatever (I don't remember the details), to avoid ending up losing lines. Your account manager should have sent instructions on this.

I'm sorry you thought I was saying you said I was a liar, but I thought I was clear. Nonami was the one saying some crud about Spheris or something. I know I put it under your post but I thought you would know it wasn't you I was referring to.

The negative line counts-- I agree with the email. I do that too, don't remove templated headings and send to QA to have them remove them. There are other entries with negatives on the summary, but you will see there is more than 1 entry for that job and it evens out.

I was not saying that about you at all, not amused :)
Thank you bips - not amused

I never got that email about the negative line counts. I have just been doing what it says in the account specs and didn't know you could send to QA for them to remove. It's just depressing to see your paycheck keep shrinking and then have WMX touting the fact that they are the employer of the year.

Webmedx/Nuance Lines Per Hour
Nov 18, 2011

How many lines per hour are most people averaging right now on this platform? I am getting a mixture of straight type /VR that varies daily. They have not shown us any reports of how everyone is doing as a group. I don't think I can make the quota in 8 hours to qualify for benefits. I am trying.  We have open enrollment for insurance ending November 30.  The 1st week in December, they will tell us what the pay plan is for the future.  Granted, insurance ra ...

Is It True That FOCUS, Only Counts Half Of Your Lines When Calculating VR Lines?
Jan 30, 2012

if you make 4 cents per line at 1000 lines a day, they really calculate it at 500 lines per day x 4 cents, making it really 2 cents per line for the full 1000.   I heard this, and I am really interested in knowing if it is true. ...

Told Nuance Was Overcharging For Lines, Now Lines Drastically Reduced
May 02, 2012

My main account was a good one, and the lines were very good, mostly ER work. I have been on this account for over a year and a half now. We recently received an e-mail stating that Nuance had discovered that the line count was charging incorrectly, as instituted by them, and they had been crediting us with MORE lines than we were actually doing and overcharging the client. Now get this, they informed us that they would not make US pay it back, for their mistake, but that our new lines would re ...

TransTech Lines - Required Hours But Are Short Lines?
Jun 10, 2011

What do you do when you have the required hours but are short lines? I got an email that I need to "make plans to have my shortage made up." The only problem is that I'm up to date with my hours for the pay period so far. The other problem is that I have plans Saturday night and Sunday (both being my scheduled time off) that don't include TransTech. It's getting harder and harder to defend this company when they can't hold up their end of the agreement and continually ...

TransTech Lines - How Many Lines Do You Average During The Day/week?
Jan 19, 2011

Just wondering if the TT MTs would like share ... how many lines do you average during the day/week?  I'm doing about 9,000 to 10,000 a week and wonder if I should be pushing myself more.  How much of your count is VR?  I do probably 15% traditional and 85% VR but that, of course, varies week to week.   ...

TransTech Lines - How Many Lines Do You Average Per Day
Jul 13, 2011

How many lines do you average per day - VR and traditional?  I know it's been VERY slow lately, but when things are going well, how many lines do you normally get? I'm trying to figure out where the average numbers are.  For me, I do about 350 trad and about 1400 VR in 8 hours. Well, my timesheet says 8 hours, but my clock says that number MAY(!) be a little higher.  Again, these are numbers I pull when things are going well and I'm not waiting for work to download. I'v ...

Webmedx Needs To Pay
Apr 24, 2010

The unremarkable Wedmedx needs to pay for the downtime MTs are incurring because they want to switch everything over to their horrendous ISR.  The unremarkable Webmedx requires 1 to 4 hours to get new computers up and running and yet we production people are supposed to make up that time or use our PTO time or just not get paid.  The unremarkable Webmedx just hired new people and gave them bonuses to sign on but can't pay their longtime loyal employees for time lost due to no ...

Webmedx MTs

Webmedx Pay Better Than Most
Oct 16, 2010

I know a lot of MTs and I keep getting calls to get on MTStars and read the latest bashing of Webmedx.  So when I finished work today I decided to do just that.  To hear all of your complaints I wonder if this is the same company I've been working for all these years. I've been editing since ISR started with them and it took me about a year to make up and at times exceed where I was.  Now I prefer ISR.  The long and the short of it is that as long as Webmedx keeps ...
