Ive heard of over 400 lph vr in the past at Transcend, but not on M*Modal.
Wait... Transcend uses MModal? Does that mean MModal - (MQ) will buy them too?

I will as a question anywhere I feel like it.
Actually, a good question. - Inquiring mind.

I'm looking for a new employer and Transend is one I am interested in. However, I left MQ after 15 years of employment partly due to the platform and would prefer not working for MQ/MModal again.
I average between 550 and 650 lph editing - Hanginginthere

It took me several months to get up to this speed. It basically depends on what kind of reports I get, which dictators, etc. When everything has been going my way, I've averaged as high as 699 lph one week. In a bad week lately, I only reached 550 lph average. That said, 600 lph does not compute to 4800 lines per eight hours. Pretty sure the lph rate only counts the time you are actually in a report working, not the time spent between reports, and it does add up. The most I've ever been able to do in one day was 3000 lines, 2000 editing and 1000 transcribing, in about a 10-hour period. If I could do that every day, I'd be a happy camper.
The above is in M Modal/BeyondText nm - Hanginginthere

Really? - Incredible numbers...

And it took all of ''several months''. Come on.
When I started out I did betwen 300 and 400 lph editing - Hanginginthere
[ In Reply To ..]
Several months on the exact same accounts, yes. Typing using ShortHand, I average 350 lph. It can be done, but it's definitely a different skill set from just straight transcription. My typing speed is 100 wpm. I used to make a lot more doing straight transcription, but I'm getting to where I can see the possibility of making with editing nearly what I used to make doing straight transcription with a word expander.
500 and 650 an hour? I don't believe you. - AnnieOakley.

No way unless you have a whole bunch of template reports. Then even questionable.
I exceeded that at Transcend. It's critical not to - have to look much up. READ ON

Doubt you could ever make those lines? Try timing your editing LPH on clean text that doesn't require you to stop scanning much. The report is already open, no closing it, just scan, drop in a couple expander-assisted corrections, stop, and count lines. The number is going to skyrocket. You fast guys are scanning a line every 2 to 3 seconds--as long as very little correction is needed. Some reports are like that, and some accounts have a lot of them. That would be at least 20 lpm. Multiply that by 60 minutes and you have as much as 1200 lines per hour, and occasionally significantly more.
NOW, subtract 4 minutes for trying to figure out and confirm a garbled author's name or make a note to QA. Another 6 minutes for trying to find a phrase in old reports. At 20 lpm you just lost 200 lines in one report. Down to 1000 lph.
Add in all the other things that typically cause you to stop moving forward, figuring out a term you don't know, identifying a patient, a physician's name, looking up an address, notes to QA, copies, etc. Down to anywhere from 150 to 750 lph depending on your skill level and how much extra stuff the account requires.
The thing is: when you scan 1200+ lines per hour, 20-30 lpm, every stop costs A BUNCH of lines. Many more than the same stops cost when you were transcribing 200-250 lph.
NOW, for those to whom this applies, on a lousy account with many reports so bad you could literally have typed the report faster than you can fix multiple errors in every single line: Just pat yourself on the back if you're managing to edit 250 fairly consistently, even if you could have timed yourself at 1200 on a good report.
Does this apply? Refusing to accept single spaces and insisting on adding them back in? Subtract, oh, 100s of lines each and every hour for that little piece of income-destructive cupidity.
High line counts are possible--when you have good accounts providing appropriate copy for editing AND when you are very familiar with their terminology and names. And have jettisoned any and all outrageously expensive personal quirks. The key to getting line counts up is moving yourself into that position.
Whatever that takes. Can't read that fast? Practice. Have to look up a lot of terms? Get better fast, and in the meantime arrange to limit yourself to 1, at most 2, accounts. This might require changing jobs. Big oh-well if it means making significantly more money.
Speeding up playback and using shortcuts helps a lot. sm - Hanginginthere
[ In Reply To ..]
Like I said earlier, the more difficult the editing, the slower one has to go. Conversely, the easier the editing, the faster one can go. The more familiar the account, the faster one can go. Some of my docs I can speed up playback to 266% actually. They are that clear and good. Others, I have to slow down to less than 100% sometimes, though I always try to speed them back up to at least 152% if possible.
high line count - sorry situation
[ In Reply To ..]
I need to change accts, that's all there is to it! I used to type (The operative word is type) 250 words a minute, consistently for years! I cannot get the editing much over that here at Transcend with the accts I am on.
Good for you, Sorry. Identifying the biggest issue is - the first step. Good luck. NM

that many lines per hour, much was being overlooked.
I have done 600 lines per hour... - wheres_my_job
[ In Reply To ..]
One department, and only one department, maybe 10 dictators tops (but closer to 2-3). No copies, nothing to verify in the header, very very few corrections needed - ie, you are really proofreading not "editing." But then you get the letters with 4 addresses, a bunch of garbage on the screen, no patient name, whole phrases dropping out, drugs not listed in medication list, mumbler, etc...
it all depends... - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
It all depends on how good a job the computer does rendering the voice file. I just banged out over 300 lines in 30 minutes because the reports were so clean. Other times, not so much. If you have to stop and change or add every other word, "he" to "she," add commas or take them away... then maybe a fraction of that.
Believe whatever you must, but...sm - Hanginginthere
[ In Reply To ..]
My QA reports are always 99% to 100%. I am a bit of a perfectionist and hate sloppy work. I just have learned to read faster and turn out the playback speed, along with being quite fast at moving around within the document to make any corrections necessary.
Of course, I also am just naturally pretty darn fast (type 100+ wpm). With straight transcription I average 350 lines per hour using good ol' ShortHand.

I average 500+ lines per hour. Have been on the same account for 3 years or so. Maybe that has something to do with it.
Im the OP..thanks for that, but now Im a bit confused - OP

So at the end of the day is your line count 500 times say 8 hrs which is 4000 lines editing and you can then base your pay on your 4000 X your ****cents per line for that day.
The other poster above says it doesnt come out that way which confuses me. Where I have been working that is the way we are paid IE it would be 4000 lines multiplied at 5 cents per line for a days pay (if you wanted no know just for that day).
Sounds like Transcend may be different according to the other poster above? Or do you mean 500 lph and that is what you get paid for?
LPH is basically the speed at which you edit/transcribe - Hanginginthere
[ In Reply To ..]
The LPH is only measured by BeyondTXT while you are actually in a report working. It is not figured on total amount of lines per day divided by hours. Sorry if that was not clear.
Basically, you only get paid while you are actually in a report... - Hanginginthere
[ In Reply To ..]
So the 500 or 600 lph just means the rate at which you edit while you're editing. Just like with straight transcription getting paid by the line, we don't get paid for any time we are not actually working on completing a report. Breaks, lunch, internet searches (even though they are crucial to our ability to do a good job sometimes) and especially commenting on discussion boards like this one--we don't get paid for at all while we doing those things.
For that reason, though I may technically average 600 lph editing, with interruptions, breaks, searching for info on the internet, etc., combined, for me it works out to more like 400 lph at the end of the day. I usually can complete 2000-2400 lines in a shift. My immediate goal is to make that 3000 lines per shift. It generally works out to be 75% editing and 25% transcribing, though it sometimes is as much as 90% editing.
With editing, just as with transcribing, it almost all depends on how good the dictators are. With good ones, I can breeze through them when editing. With bad dictators who for some reason get put in editing mode, it's enough to make you want to bang your head on the desk sometimes.
To me personally, that makes absolutely no sense. sm - oldtimer
[ In Reply To ..]
If my shift is from 2 pm to 8 pm, to get my actual lph I divide by 6 hours. It is totally ludicrous to stop the count when you take your hands off the keys for a sip of coffee, to look something up, to stretch, or take a quick potty break. IMO
That is how LPH is figured. sm - Hanginginthere
[ In Reply To ..]
We are not making money unless we are actually in the process of completing a document.
Like hanginginther stated - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
500+ lines is what my average is on the productivity report they send out weekly. No, I do not do 4000 lines per shift. That would require sitting for 8 hours straight nonstop, which is impossible. But while my hands are on the keyboard that is my average speed. I really think it has to do with familiarity with the account. I have been on the same account for 3+ years. I am very familiar with all of the dictators aside from the occasional new one. You have to use the shortcuts to navigate around the report and increase the speed of playback. I am usually at 152% speed.
yes you can - but
[ In Reply To ..]
stop using the keyboard shortcuts. Use the arrow keys.
Thank you both very much for your positive input - OP
