Does anybody use Instant Text? - nymt

Does anybody use Instant Text? I just started using it and CANNOT figure out how to get "-year-old" to expand without a space in front of the first hyphen. I am ready to scream! Please help!

The way I do it is type y then the number, like this y54 and hit the semi-colon to expand it out to 54-year-old. Hope this helps.

CR is right. You can type any age by typing y plus the number. Just include the Ages.glo to your current glossary unless you are using the Medstart glossary which already has all the ages (at least untli 100) in there.
You can also use the following entry:
{command}{Backspace}-year-old

Just copy this line into the Add window and assign the short form of your choice.
You can explore the Command menu with all the available keyboard and action commands in detail later.

Hello! Try this... Go to glossary viewer. Go to add. Then click on command. Hit the backspace key and type in -year-old. I use the macro yroh for the keyboard macro. Hope this helps. For year old I use yroo.

I tried going in to the glossary viewer and typing the backspace in the command box but when I go to try it I still have the space between the year (age) of the patient and the -year-old. Hmmm I'm having a hard time getting used to this program!!

I never cared for this program. I found it cumbersome and it really slowed me down. It is sitting in my closet collecting dust, in case anybody wants it. I much prefer Shorthand for Windows. It is much less cost than Instant Text and it works just like Auto Correct in Windows. It is also compatible with many online platforms, where Instant Text is not. Hope this helps.

Just to set the record straight. We have not yet encountered a platform that Instant Text 7 is not compatible with. If you know of one, please let us know.
You may not like the program for the reasons mentioned. When you are learning how to drive a car, you don't go at 70 miles an hour right away. You eventually will, and you may even go faster when road signs allow it -:)
If you were looking to get an AutoCorrect that works with applications other than MSWord, SH will do. If you look for more than that, Instant Text delivers more time saving features. It is true, they take time to learn and require a higher amount of investment money. As one happy Instant Text user put it recently: "Thank you Instant Text! The best $$ I ever spent. I love Instant Text!"

I use autotext, but I would like to use the line counting software that comes wtih IT. Just wondered about what you all think is the best expander to use with VR. I used to use Shorthand up to a couple of years ago and now work with Instant Text. It seems to me that Shorthand is very very popular with the VR crowd. Does anyone use Instant Text successfully with VR? The version of IT I have (V Pro) does not have the recording functions and the ability to use shortcuts (like Alt+ and Control+) like Shorthand does. I am looking for Instant Text users who may be able to get me headed in the right direction in regards to compilations. I have been using Instant Text for quite a while now, only adding things on the fly, or using the enrich feature. I do not understand the compilation feature it seems. Does anyone use Instant Text with Probity's Integra platform? I just downloaded IT and am having a lot of difficulty using it. First, I had to set it to be on the right side of the screen because otherwise the time marker disappeared. Not a big deal though. I just signed up for the 30-day free trial of Instant Text. This is what I have found: * IT is faster than Shorthand. * IT has some good features that SH lacks. However, IT also has some annoying limiitations -- just like SH does -- as far as what you can name entries. For example, when naming an entry you can only use letters, numbers, _ and - . I have a new computer with Windows 7. I use Microsoft Word 2003 and Instant Text for my job. I downloaded the trial version of Instant Text that is supposed to work with Windows 7, and it does work, it just will not stay linked to my Word document.
