TTS- waiting for the ax to fall - through the weekend

Posted: Sep 21, 2012

so - today I got my QA - 97.97%. deal is it's now the 3rd one below 98%.. with the tagline that came out a few months ago that if you get a 3rd QA below 98% you'll be fired.  So - why do they not do it today and make me wait for the phone call until Tuesday.. I'm probably going to stress myself so much over worrying about it I'll have a stroke before tuesday.... Deal is -- I"ve been applying to other jobs -- not just MT (live in a very small town so anything medical has to be at towns at least 30 miles away) -- and haven't had a bite..

I guess I just have to vent.... . I've been MT from home for over 14 years -- so my resume is the problem of it looks like I have no skills other than to sit and type... I"ve been at TTS for 9 months now - after losing a 6+ year MT job to being outsourced ....

has anybody else at TTS been in this situation.. I hate the job, the pay and the hours there but as of now it's all I've got and really don't want to lose it.

I feel for you - sm

I worked for them for over 4 years and there was nothing I dreaded more than waiting for the ax to fall because of my QA scores. I will tell you though that QA with that company is done by not only the client, but also TTS, so the QA tends to be not consistent. I'd go over your reports with a fine tooth comb and pick out any discrepancies.

That was the worst company I've ever encountered and was lucky enough to find a wonderful job (straight typing) with a company that treats their employees like competent adults and not second class citizens like TTS does.

Good luck to you!

So Sorry - just as bad as...

Getting an email saying "we need to talk" or a voicemail, etc., its cruel they know people are going to worry sick till that time.

Anyway I hope it works out for you!

If they fire you they pay UE. Not many want to do that. My bet - is they will give you another chance. nm

I have no idea what is going on with TTS. I always used to get excellent QAs and here lately mine have been under 98%. I heard from 1 of the previous supervisors that worked there they have quite a few unhappy people there and my getting low marks were like ones she was hearing from others that are in contact with her. They keep sending out urgent work notices but I am getting so many bad QA reports, have no incentive to work any extra. Are you getting them frequently, like everyday? Like you, I wondered if my neck was getting tightened in a noose. I sit here almost frozen because so afraid of making a mistake. I have been counted off for commas they said in wrong place. Really? I am tired of picky....

Yep..one of the many reasons - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I left there also. It was scary because I was afraid to go from the frying pan into the fire, so to speak, but anything was better than where I was. I realize that jobs are getting harder to find, but when a erodes your self-esteem to the point where you're afraid to log in, that's really sad. :(

I ended up in a fabulous place with hours of my own choosing, great rate, straight typing only and a fabulous TL.

I wish the same for you who are with TTS and are unhappy.

looking for a door out - of TTS

[ In Reply To ..]
yes - that is exactly how I feel... the QAs are coming about weekly - but they'll be 98% or 99% and maybe once every 6 weeks one will be 97.7% and then I'll panic - I completely agree it's not motivating at all to do extra work when you're panicked a missed "a" "an" or "the" could mean a QA below 98%.... at this point I'm like - fire me, I'd make more on UE anyway.
and.. - causes your line rate to plummet
[ In Reply To ..]
because you have to reread and relisten even more than normal because of the QA noose!

As I mentioned previously stay away from companies like that....some do put too many commas, some don't put enough...but this is really unreasonable, complaining about commas...the patients aren't perfect, the nurses aren't perfect, the doctors are not perfect, the MT companies aren't perfect...only YOU must be!! They are all okay but YOU are not! Find another line of work. Life is just too precious to spend it this way..it is frustration after frustration every day of the week. Think about it. Is what I'm saying make any sense? Think about it.

I have yet to figure out the QA - schedule...

[ In Reply To ..]
Sometimes I get one a week, I might even get more than 1 in a week and then I'll go several weeks without 1 - no rhyme or reason as to whether its weekly QA checks, definitely not quarterly but then again some weeks I don't get one. Does anyone know what is really is?

schedule - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I never figured it out either. What I did find out recently though is that if you are working the Dictaphone side for the "F" place, you are really getting overflow work from Nuance, so the QA comes from the "F" place, Nuance and TTS. Since they all seem to have different standards, expect QA whenever and also expect it to be not consistent.

I hated to sign in every day not knowing if it was QA day or not and as someone said, it became not worth doing overtime because I always felt that made me stick out more, thus more of a chance for more QA'ing. So not worth the stress.

I was going to be axed but quit instead. I was an IC for them with 20 years experience and after 6 months all that grading. It is quite obvious should it not be against the law to let other than the American people type our medical records. Just keep applying. I am still applying. Good luck to you.

My thoughts are - sour grapes

[ In Reply To ..]
My thoughts are this thread is being fueled by the same poster. If you look down a few paragraphs you will see another post regarding TTS asking about a job offer, then the poster comes back and states they currently work there, both times mentioning QA reports. Just like this post, to me, it sounds like someone is not happy because they are not passing QA and feels like venting on this forum. I for one find it amazing that so many know what is going on at so many other companies and have spoken with so many other MTs, plus it always seems they left one place for another and found work with a great line rate, no schedule, inexpensive benefits and great managers. Just my 2c in looking at it from the outside.

I'll bite - exTTS

I worked for TTS for a number of years with very few issues. I did my job, and did it well so they left me alone for the most part. In the last year, however, I have never been so unhappy at a company. I literally lost my will to sign in every day. I came to their defense many times on this board in my early years with them, but never again. I am so glad to be out from under their ever watchful eyes on my keyboard. This, of course, is just my experience.

Sour grapes? - carly2002

Don't kid yourself by thinking all is anywhere to being halfway right at TTS. There are several posting here and I am sorry for posting wrong on a posting further down the board but am new to this site and my first posting. I do not know nor do I talk with other employees there. I talked with an ex-boss of mine and she told me things, specifically how she is hearing from others who have the same problem as I am having with the job, that being QA has within the past 8 months become a problem. I was averaging 99% on QA and now if you look sideways you are getting counted off for it. I came into this job with 20 years of MTing, not from another company but outsourced from inhospital status. Am IC but am told have a have a schedule and stick to it. Can't comment on benefits, husband carries, Would suggest if on the outside looking in that you don't have a clue as to what we are being put through.

Waiting For The Axe To Fall Is STRESSFUL!
Nov 04, 2009

The account I am on now is a very large ******** that apparently have in their account absolutely no off-shoring (though I'm sure MQ could get around this), and as o YET have not run into the NJA situations (in fact we are usually behind and being offered OT).  However, I can't help when I'm reading this board and seeing a lot of NJA complaints that this will soon enough happen to us all.  If I didn't come to this board I'd be blissfully unaware.  ...

May 10, 2012

I applied, tested for and passed for the Accentus STARTeam position.  I received a call from HR for the first interview and went on to a second interview with who would be my transcrition manager within hours of the first interview.  I was on the phone with her for over an hour.  She was very excited about my experience and told me I would be a great fit.  It was very clear that she thought I would be a valuable addition to her team and the interview went very, very well. &nb ...

I took their test last fall and passed it and was called immediately.  I was told I would be up and running in 2 weeks or less.  First it was calls from different Indian tech people asking for the same paperwork over and over and after the install date came and went twice, I gave up.  They emailed me 8 weeks ago and asked me again to come on board, told them what happened last time and they swore they had all that straightened up now.  It took them a month just to get back to me about a star ...

How Do You Use Your Waiting Time?
Jul 02, 2010

Hi, I am an old MT but new to working at home. Didn't know beans about any company, but have gotten hired by a company that (as I found out on these forums) apparently overhires. As I understand it, this means that my "8-hour shift" may stretch to fill the entire day, as I wait for dictation to become available, because we have to do a certain number of lines, if there's work or not. My question to anyone in the same situation is, What do you do during the time you are waiting? Is it ...

Waiting Time Pay
Mar 29, 2013

Did you know that the Department of Labor requires that you be paid for waiting time?  That's right. Keep track of all the time you are out of work during your regular shift and are required to be available to work when the jobs come in.  All that time is billable to the company and is, by federal law, due to be paid to you!  Keep track of all your out of work or waiting for tech support down time!!! Bill the company for it. ...

Do You Ever Feel Like QA Is Just Waiting
Feb 12, 2014

for you to slip up, mess up, and they enjoy it when you do? In the last couple of weeks, I've realized that maybe I'm not cut out for this (I've been an MT for 15 years). I hate feeling like I always have to be on the defensive. In 2 weeks, I have had some pretty major errors attempted to be pinned on me. One of them wasn't even my report. The other one was a mixup. But it feels like they (QA) delight in finding these things and trying to pin them on people that don ...

What I Am Waiting And Hoping For,
May 23, 2014

That any large American company that has sent its work overseas would bring it all back and become a "hero" company by doing so, which would garner a lot of press for them, create improved morale across the board, and would hopefully see increased sales and jobs if the American public bought their product over something they could get at Walmart cheaper. This would hopefully trigger copycat companies who want to get in on the act, and maybe we might see a return of jobs to this country. ...

Tired Of Waiting For Calls That Never Come.
May 27, 2012

I am so burned out and so tired of trying to get jobs here.  So many of these recruiters do not call when they say they will and a few just never called.  No explanations, no apology, like "Oh well they are only MTs, a dime a dozen and who cares if we do not call and fail to give them the courtesy you would any other worker."   I am just worn out and sick of trying, sick of doing all the testing and then having an interview where nothing ever happens.  I must admit Nuanc ...
