Warning for MTs interested in Patient First Transcription.   Beware...  This is a very difficult company to work for.  First, the platform is extremely difficult as it is working in DOS.  Second, the management team is extremely critical and not employee friendly.  They do not give constructive feedback, again, very critical, even during training period.  Hours are in dispute constantly.   In short, really think about working on a DOS-based system (lines decreased radically from "normal" transcription) with a very critical management team, disputing hours on a regular basis (extreme discrepancies), etc.  Not a comfortable environment at all.  Very high turnover in MTs.

I worked for them for 5 weeks, not even through my training. Everything I did was wrong... I asked too many questions, didn't ask enough questions; I took too much time, I didn't take enough time, etc. I am a CMT and never ever had this problem anywhere. The discrepancy was in the waiting process until they got back to me with my QA, assignments, emails, phone calls... I was told not to type until I heard from them, but sat for over three hours waiting.... reviewing QA, guidelines, etc while waiting for a phone call. When claimed hours, was essentially called a liar and not paid for many, many hours I was in front of the computer during training. I had a terrible experience. I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else.

Sounds a lot like most of the companies I have worked for on this board. Same experience with them, Keystrokes, Nuance, or nuisance. Same inconsistencies in information.

I too racked up much more than 8 hours during my training period. I think the unwritten rule is, especially during training, no matter how long it takes, you only put down 8 hrs.

I currently work there. Not the best place I have ever worked, but by far not the worst.

The regular work is typed in Word, so not sure what you are typing. Radiology maybe? If so, you only have a 1200 line requirement on a 50 character line with spaces to account for typing directly into the med rec. Are you having trouble getting his?

Also, there are not set hours unless you are training. Why is there so much dispute over your hours? Does radiology (if this is what you are typing) have certain hours? If so, why the "extreme discrepancies?" What are they? Curious if there may be changes coming that I haven't heard about yet.

I don't hear from management unless something has come up or I ask a question, so I don't know why you are having a problem on the management side of things.

Not sure where you are getting the high rate of turnover info, but it is actually very low.

I worked there as a radiology tech and they were extremely picky in their training, but the region I worked in for the most part had very nice friendly helpful and patient management (except my immediate supervisor what a biatch), maybe it depends which Patient First you are working for.

I swear to all that is holy, this is what this less-than-stellar PA just dictated:   "The patient IS a high-risk gestational trophoblastic disease..."  I went back and listened thinking I must have heard wrong and she said patient HAS ... Nope.  She said IS.  This is the same PA who dictated a creatinine of 92 for someone.   That sound you hear is me hitting my head on the desk. ...

Just FYI....I applied to PF about 3-4 months ago. Took the transcription test, thought I did great, never heard a word. Today out of the blue, got a call that I had done great on testing and they would like to offer me a position.  I said thanks but no thanks since I'm no longer looking for a job.
