It used to be you were eligible for some benefits; even some companies had hospitalization. Now we don't even get any holiday pay. I swear, I will NEVER work another holiday unless it is absolutely unavoidable. Just because I am now semi-retired and only work part time doesn't mean I am NOT making a viable contribution to your (now) lousy company.

Working PT for my current company I have never felt more like a slave. I know I am free to leave them, and I will be soon when I am finished training for my new line of work.

as a PT employee, when I work holidays, I get the same holiday pay as a FT employee and I earn PTO (definitely less than a FT employee though). That is one of the reasons why I stick with them, for now. I am not sure though if the PTO accrues for employees under 30 hours.

What is Nuance's convoluted way of determining holiday pay and OT? I know it is NOT time and a half any longer, but I never really did understand the newer calculation, which of course is a decrease from what it once was. Better than nothing, of course, but it's just so little extra it's hardly worth it after taxes.

For holiday pay it is 25% of lines--sm - anon

Whatever you type that day, you get 25% more lines. I have no idea on over time as I never approach that and right now OT is seriously discouraged.

I have to work every holiday, except one unimportant one. There is NWIH I will do that. I'll be requesting a lot of time off, especially one of the 2 big ones. One I will work, the one it is my turn to work, the other NO WAY

Likewise, I will request them off from now on. Seven years of being a very good and reliable employee at this place, and now I'm treated like dirt. If I hadn't worked in this crappy field for so many years, I might have had a pension so I wouldn't have to keep working PT.

It's a shame that they're making up rules as we go along, and we always end up on the loosing end of those "changes." I refuse to work on a holiday without holiday pay. Most of us are working part-time because we have no choice, and I'm not going to accept being penalized for that!

I just found out, I will no longer be getting time and one-half for holidays either, only full-time will be eligible for that. Second class citizen is right, I will no longer work holidays either.

A friend of mine is taking the CareerStep class for MT (although I tried to talk her out of it). Anyway she is in the transcription part, and using the disks that were supplied with the course. How did you listen to and transcribe from this. She put the disk in the disk drive of her computer, but there is no way to start/stop the dictation, etc. and I believe it would be very frustrating. Or are we both missing something? Did you use expresscribe or something and do ...

I am taking a coding and billing course on-line and I am almost finished, but I am having trouble. I just do not get it. I code and then find out it should have been a different code. I start in the alphabetical index and then check the tabular index, but there is also the E and V and everything. I have a hard time with the order of things. Wondering how/if all of us who work for MModal can start a class action lawsuit against them? What for you ask? Just wondering is anyone has taken the AHIMA A&P class and what did you think of it? I need an A&P class but consider myself more of a visual learner. If a person types 60 words a minute (roughly six lines with 10 words per line), and it takes two minutes to type those six lines (roughly twice the amount of time as dictated), that equates to this: 30 minutes divided by 6 lines equals 5 cents, divided by 2 for the time factor of typing = 2.5 cents a line. can be done. That is SO NOT true, and I hate to state the obvious, the elephant in OUR room here, that its likely management trolls. The law firm listed below is fantastic. And class actions work where 1 or 2 Plaintiffs step up and its converted to a class action for all employees. That's where ya sit back, don't have to do squat, the pros go over payroll and you get compensated if wages are calculated to be do you. Its simple, NOT some big drama fest. This IS America ...
