New hires at Patient First? - Wondering
Posted: Jun 22, 2014
Anyone recently hired by Patient First? How long did the whole process take? It seems like things are moving really slow.
Might want to - check the archives

...with regard to Patient First. So many issues, ups and downs, positives and negatives. You're lucky that you got in at all! Most cannot pass that test. Good luck!
Are they still doing the on-site training or did you - train from home?

I worked for another MTSO who had them as an account. Patient First was so picky that no one could make them happy. I then saw they were hiring their own MTs and thought I would see if things had changed, so took their test. That test was horrible. I could barely understand a thing that was said, super bad ESL, which I felt was not fair to use for testing. I then found out that you have to train for 2 weeks on site. That would have done it for me anyway, even if I passed the test. Just beware of them. They can be very nasty from my past experience.

Slight exaggeration on your part. The in house training is for 1 week. Its not just training you go through, is orientation just like at any other company you get hired at. Yes we have a lot of ESL doctors but isn't that part of being an MT. If you want sweet speaking doctors you are in the wrong business. You do get used to them, just like anywhere else.
Since you worked for an MTSO how did you have any interaction with PF anyway, and how were they very nasty? Just wondering because my bosses have never been very nasty as long as I have worked there. She definitely is no nonsense because we are so far behind and she has a job to do too, but as long as you do what you are supposed to do she doesn't bother you at all. Between the team leads, manager and director they are all more than willing to help us with any problem we have.
I am just curious about your experience of nastiness.

I am not sure how long you have worked for PF, but they were an account with a MTSO who is still in business and pretty often mentioned on this board. I am not sure I can name them, so I won't. It sounds as though they have made quite a turn around and I am happy for you that they have. When they were an account for us, the work was mostly over flow. They kept the good dictators and we got the garbage, speed talkers, mumblers and very difficult ESLs. When they were behind, then we were good enough to get everyone because they needed the work done ASAP. They had pages of abbreviations that were just their own, and we had to memorize and adhere to each one. Some reports had more abbreviations in them than expanded terms. If any were missed or not used, the person in charge would call our boss and raise the roof. She was not very pleasant, ever! As far as ESLs, yes we all get our share, but to use one for testing that is so difficult one cannot understand barely a thing said, is a bit unfair. That does not test an MTs true knowledge or experience. I have ESLs every day, and I do fine with them. Just saying that to use one such as they did for me when I tested, was a bit over the top, in my opinion. I am happy for you and those working now for PF that they have changed their attitude and that you are happy there. Perhaps with them hiring their own MTs now, and not relying on an MTSO, has provided them with a team of MTs, who can be dedicated to just their transcription needs.

The training is on site for 2 or 3 days. Most of that actually involves getting a lot of the paperwork done and picking your benefits. There is a large meeting where they go over everything (quite a few benefits) and you make your selections.
After that, you go home and train under your team lead. Probably some are better than others, but mine was fine and trained me fully on their formatting, etc. I was paid basic admin time during the training period, which is a few weeks (about 6-8 or so). Once you are up and running, you really don't hear from anyone. All of your contact after the initial hire process is through your lead person, so I never hear from anyone in the home office at all. Pretty much, if you do what you are supposed to, you don't even hear much from your lead.
You aren't on any kind of scheduled hours. They give you a 23 hour window to get 1400 lines, so just get your work done and you won't have a problem. You work M-F, so on the occasion that you need to make up time, if you ask, you can usually catch up on the weekend. I wouldn't make a habit of it, but it beats using your PTO for unexpected emergencies.
The training is a bit long and sometimes you just aren't sure how they want something, but all you have to do is ask. There hasn't been a single nasty person that I have found.
Is training at home set hours? - ?

Is the training set hours? How long has PF been around?
I have read the archives regarding Patient First. I am curious as to if all possible hires have to travel to Virginia. I understand it is company paid, however just curious if this is a standard requirement. ...
In my ongoing search to find a job, I came across this company that I thought I would pass along. It is Northeast Transcription Inc. and their site says they hire new grads (within the past 6 months). You have to be able to stand on your own from the start - there's no mentoring or special support, but it would be worth checking into. Good luck. ...
I wish I could be happy for you; however, the MTs on my account have been out of work for the better part of the week and we were informed recently of the plan for the company to add more MTs to this account. Great, more of us sitting around out of work. Welcome to the company. ...
I notice in their multiple job postings that Nuance mentions "a steady flow of work" and a "sign on bonus"..... I am just wondering how many of you new hires out there have actually seen this bonus come to fruition....or the steady flow of work??? ...
So did anyone who trained in the last month start working yet? How's it going? Any insight to offer those of us still waiting to start? I'm kinda freaked out at everything I read here and I truly should stop reading it; however, it's like a train wreck I can't seem to look away long enough to give myself perspective. Add to that that I'm already depressed for other reasons and things are not looking so hot in my neck of the woods on any level.&nbs ...
As per the post below, 7 and 3 pennies per line. Seriously, when will the madness end?! They have got to stop treating us like "typists." Actually, even a typist would make more than that. You'd be making like 7 bucks an hour!! Oh I am just hopping mad right now. This company is just appalling. Glad I am planning my escape. ...
I was wondering if any of you have had work yet on the account that starts with K and is in CA. I have not had any yet and made my hours in the early morning until early afternoon. Thinking I may have to switch but will give it some time for the dust to settle so to speak since it is a new account. ...
Is anyone willing to share their experience with iMedx and what it was like for you starting out?
What is their QA like, are they nit-picky & did it take a long time to be released from QA to live work?
How is pay?
Is it easy to obtain a decent line count?
Do they micromanage or leave you be to work?
Thanks!
PS - I know there are tons of recent threads on them, but none of them address my questions. I am hoping to hear about experiences as a new employee. ...
My supervisor tells me today that her supervisor greenlit the hiring of 20 new team members for an account that never materialized. Genius... Who is managing this company? Is there NO COMMON SENSE? I sure hope those new hires are ready to fight the rest of the team for the smattering of work we get. I have never in my life worked for a company that makes so many poorly researched decisions when it comes to staffing, not to mention the BS invention of the Deathstar P ...
We will have the patient seen by anesthesia preop to make sure the pacemaker is properly cared for during the surgical procedure, which requires general anesthesia, and the use of the s/l **bovig** during the surgery. Thanks!! ...
We are REQUIRED to fill out a monthly schedule (on Bayscribe) telling how many lines we plan to do each day. I have talked to others who have missed working on a day they said they were going to on the schedule, and the management has confronted them about that.
We are IC's. That isn't legal, is it? ...
How long did it take from the date of signing your contract until you were assigned an account and were actually trained and then working? Are you getting responses when you try to reach your contact person? Did you have problems with the technical things getting installed?
This has been the most frustrating and slow process I have ever encountered. ...
Has anyone recently been through Inscribe's "intake process"? I sent paperwork in and have not been contacted yet by manager or trainer. I read older posts that said it could take several weeks to hear a response or they may never call at all. Some folks said they just gave up. I am just wondering if anyone has been recently through this process that can shed some light. Thanks. ...
I did read the negative comments here but decided to give Inscribe a try anyway. I was hired Sunday 10/4 and told I'd be working Monday 10/5.
One of the reasons I accepted was that I thought I could get a paycheck/deposit this month...nope. Last day of pay period is today.
Today is Wednesday 10/15 and I'm still not working. Delay at every turn. I've typed ONE report on FDE through SPOE (no idea what those stand for, the person overseeing me sa ...
It would be interesting to know if anyone has voluntarily become employed with MM recently. If so, were you placed on a POD? Either way, how is it working out for you?
I think I have only seen 1 ad for hire with MM in the last year, and am wondering if the POD thing is not a way of the company of ridding itself of MTs it does not need. If so, I think it must have backfired with all the MOT. ...
I was offered a job recently with Nuance and offered a sign on bonus after 90 days of employment. With all the bad reviews and low pay according to a lot of people on this board, I was wondering if anyone has ever received a sign on bonus? Do they actually pay it after the 90 days? I like the idea of working 30 hours a week, but thought it odd that I was not even offered 40 hours, just told that it would be a 30 hour work week. Also find it kind of strange that there ...
