Negative feedback regarding Augusta Coding and Transcription - ACTI

Posted: May 09, 2012

I have been reading all of the negative feedback about Augusta Coding and Transcription and I am so upset.  I have been with this company for almost two years and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.  They have been the most flexible and easiest people to work with in the world.  There are monthly fees for platform and direct deposit, about $13 per pp,  but that is what being an Independent Contractor is all about.  I have not worked for a company yet that doesnt charge anything.   I am just thankful that they have plenty of work for me and are so understanding when things come up in life and I am not able to make production every time.  On top of having GREAT owners and a wonderful Office Manager- there is no weekend or holiday work expected because it is all clinic.  How great is that.  I have worked for a company before that expected me to work on Christmas day. Anyone out there looking, if that opportunity is granted, I would like to tell you that the positives are endless with this company.  Becky

thanks for your info, a lot of talk about low pay and - lack of work though in archives, sm

What do they pay? That would make a difference to someone paying for fees. If you're not getting work and not being paid much, then it would make a difference if you have to pay fees.

I am just the opposite. I have never (and would never) - sm

worked for a company that charges. That is outrageous to me along with the very low pay that most companies offer.

Software/Platform Payment - Stubby

I have posted this information before, but thought it was at least worth posting here again on a current thread - I too work as an IC for a company that requires a $35 monthly fee for the platform. I too stated years ago "I would NEVER pay to work for a company." I am here to tell you that would have been my biggest mistake to date (and I've made a few doozies). I do straight transcription (one of the very few opportunities still available in this field) and I make huge paydays without having to work 12-14 hour days, 7 days a week (in fact I actually work less now than ever); my average net pay is $1500 bimonthly (after that piddly $35 fee) and I have easily net $1700 to $2200 per pay period just by working a full 8-hour shift 5 days a week (I don't always do that); how foolish to turn that down because of a $35 monthly fee that is also 100% tax deductible! Sometimes we tend to draw lines in the sand and state emphatically what we will and won't do; I think that "set in stone" mentality is very short-sighted, but something I and many others are guilty of doing. Had I refused this position based on that criteria, I would have missed the best job I have ever had in this field in over 12 years. Don't get so stuck on the little things that you miss out on an amazing opportunity. Of course, every offer should be considered based on all the other criteria we use, but I'm just saying to not get blinded by that 1 little thing. Good luck to anyone out there looking; there are still great positions out there, however, you may have to be willing to move that line you've drawn in order to find them!

Feedback From Those Of You In Coding School
Aug 13, 2010

How are classes going for you?  Is coding what you thought it would be?  I have to say that there is much more to learn than I thought there would be but I really enjoy the research that is involved in the coding process, it is so important to read everything!  Learning the sequencing of codes has probably been the most difficult thing for me so far (I'm having trouble with the septicemia codes), but I understand a little more each day.  The ICD-9 coding guidelines defin ...

Negative Posts On Here About Southern Transcription
Mar 27, 2014

I see the negative posts on here about Southern Transcription but was wondering how long ago you worked for them.   I guess I am just hoping things may have improved since then.  I am about to be one of many swallowed up by Nuance and I can't imagine any other MT company being much worse from what I read on the Nuance board.   Thanks in advance for any information. ...

Hired For Coding/billing/transcription, But Told No Coding
Aug 13, 2013

Accepted a job, gave 2 weeks notice, and yesterday was my first day.  I was to be helping out transcription (1000 jobs behind), and then sitting with billing and training with coding as their coder will be out on maternity leave in December.  The office is adding another surgeon, and they are rapidly expanding.  So I gave a proper 2 weeks' notice to my former employer (2 hours on the road there and back, low salary - now less than half distance and $3 more an hour) and starte ...

Transcription To Coding
Sep 07, 2010

I've been an at-home medical transcriptionist for a national company for a little over six years.  I loved my job until February when my company went over to VR.  I'm not happy with the voice recognition and have decided to go back to school to get certification for coding.  I'm wondering if anyone else has transitioned successfully from transcription to coding.  Are you able to apply what you've learned in transcription to coding?  Are your day-to-da ...
