A community of 30,000 US Transcriptionist serving Medical Transcription Industry
The conference calls are over, the paperwork will soon be sent in, and rumors have been put to rest, at least I think they have been. I am encouraged because D seems to be more at the helm than I thought she was going to be. She answered a question yesterday which made things more clear about the rate cut. I said a long time ago that 10 or 11 cpl was not going to fly forever. You charge only what the market can bear, and in this economy it cannot handle those rates. Are we worth more than 9 cpl? Yes. Does D and Transcend feel we are worth more? I believe they do. But I also believe we are in an industry that is more competitive than any other. I see posts on here that tell us we can find jobs that do pay more than 9 cpl. Where are they? Look at the Job Seeker's Board. Nothing new posted for almost 3 days, and what is there is not much to consider. A post further down on this board illustrates just 1 MT's experience in looking for work for 2 months and so far nothing.
I am grateful for my job with MDI/Transcend. I am also grateful for 9 cpl and a flexible schedule. For those who are not and do not want to join in the ride, get off the train. But before you do, take a look around and be sure before you jump. I have and I am staying right where I am. It is time to stop the complaining and knit-picking this thing to death. We will all be okay if we look at the glass as half full and make up our minds to think positive thoughts, look for the good things that this merger means, and trust in D's choice of a company for which she, herself, is now working. You know, if it was just the money she cared about and not all of us, she could have just sold off her accounts and shut the door. Then where would we all be come February 1?
