Landmark Transcription - platform? - Bibbity Bob The Sheep
Posted: Mar 06, 2010
I was wondering if anyone knew what type of platform this company uses, and if they are currently using VR. Is there anything particular you MAY NOT like about this company or things you REALLY LIKE about them? I'd appreciate hearing about them. Thanks .
Did you see the thread on this just below this? nm - LOTS of info there

They use bayscribe. Don't waste you time. The owner is into overhiring. There is no work. She treats the business like a hobby. She does mostly overflow. Look at the archives. You will get no work or very little work. She likes to talk about her kids a lot and running her errands a lot. When she did the payroll once, she entered a wrong code and it triggered a letter to everyone which said everyone was terminated. Does that tell you much about the management?
Well part of your info is correct - Landmarker

Some of their accounts use Bayscribe. That much you got correct. Some of their accounts use other platforms. They don't do mostly overflow work - my account is proof positive of that. The fact that you talk about the owner and some supposed glitch in payroll is proof that your information is very old and outdated. I have been with this company for two years and have never run into that.
It's a good company. Like any and all other companies, the work has an ebb and flow. I've been with them for two years and have no problems with work except on Christmas and Thanksgiving. I work full time for them and make a VERY good living.

Well, you're just fortunate. Many MTs have gone for days on end without enough work to pay their bills with this company. The excuses are varied. Landmark will request that we hang in there until the next account gets signed on. The majority of their accounts are NOT full service accounts. Take note, they do NOT do all work types, there is NOT work available 24/7. The company hires constantly because MTs leave constantly because the MTS cannot make a decent living when there is no available work. Oh, the company will slide you onto a secondary account, which will last a couple of weeks (if you are lucky) and then vanish forever. The only positive aspect of this company is their supervisor/QA person is wonderful. No idea why she stays with this company.
That made me laugh! - Ha ha!

The fact that an owner would "talk about her kids" or "run errands" would COMPLETELY not concern me, seems how I work at home. I could care less if the owner ran errands the entire day. I think some people need an owner/supervisor/manager who will "hold their hand" throughout the work day, and be there for a billion questions a day and that is fine. Some people need more supervision than others, BUT, with a work-at-home job, you have to be a self-starter, fast-learner and be able to figure things out on your own. If you need constant supervision or constant communication with your "boss" then a person should probably try an in-house job.
I wasn't directing this at anyone, I was just pointing out an opinion, as I hear people often saying how "difficult" of a time they have contacting supervisors or owners of different companies and I have two jobs and I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I had to communicate with my superiors at either company. I just log on, work and log off. Simple as that:)
not funny - been there

Here's the non-laughing matter about this company and your comments. The tech support is the male owner. Availability is slim. The contact person in regards to problems with payroll, needing a backup account, etc., is the female owner. She is not available because she's at functions with the kids or running errands. The QA person/ supervisor/ trainer of ALL accounts tries to handle everything, but she can't possibly be available 24/7.
Inefficiency is not amusing. Lack of work is not amusing. Business owners that are not available to the staff if they are the contact people is not amusing. Lack of tech support the majority of the day is not amusing.
The issues with this company are that there is no one else to contact and the owners are not available as appropriate, either.
If there consistently is NO work, it's not as "simple" as "log on, work, and log off."

Leaving MQ, I find Landmark a dream come true. I have not had the owner discussing her children or her errands with me. The supervisor is great. The 2 times I did contact the owner she replied promptly and we got the matter settled in a timely manner. I appreciate being left alone to do my job and don't need nor want a lot of interaction with supervisor and/or owner. QA is not breathing down my neck. Have heard from the supervisor 2 times regarding things she wanted me to change. It is a good fit for me. My account started off slow but now is very productive. No regrets other than I should have been with them all of these years instead of MQ.

I'm right there with you. I am also a survivor of MQ. I also find Landmark to be a dream come true. My experience of the people who own the company is that they are honest and decent people. I have not had much interaction with the owners, but when I have, they have treated me well. My paycheck has always been accurate to the penny and always on time. QA is the best I have ever had in all of my years in MTing. She is kind, professional, and really knows her stuff. I have learned more from her than anyone else I have ever worked for. She has high standards (good for her!) and she and her QA staff are always fair and kind. I have plenty of work. Of course, Christmas and New Year's were a little bit slow, but they were also slow at MQ and the hospitals where I worked before that. That is just the nature of the industry at those times of year. We all know it and should plan for it. I like the fact that Landmark leaves me alone to focus on production and to get my work done. I am not looking for someone to chit-chat with in a boss. I am looking for someone who knows her stuff, is ethical, and treats me like a human being. Landmark has come through for me on all of these counts. No complaints from this gal. After the nightmares I had from MQ, it is wonderful to wake up actually wanting to go work each day.
ok here - mt

I'm sure you'll scare a few people away. That's fine. More work for me.
I've been with LM a long time. Have never needed tech support (BTW, they do seem to have another guy working tech support now too), and have only e-mailed payroll once. She responded within a few minutes and fixed the problem.
To the OP, any company you ask about will have unhappy people. You need to find a company that is the right fit for you. LM has flexible hours, leaves you alone do to the work, has VR and straight transcription. Compared to MQ, Spheris and anyone else that makes you clock in and out, sends you e-mails every 5 minutes and makes you sit in front of your computer with NJA, LM is a dream.

Landmark Transcription - Very Disappointed Jan 15, 2010Was hired by this company for a large hospital new account. Owner said she was excited about hiring 40 MTs. Landmark Transcription - I Think I Goofed Apr 07, 2012
I think I may have made a HUGE error. After not reading and researching enough on site here I sent Landmark Transcription my resume. It wasn't until it was sent I discovered some of the messages from last year saying they are always out of work !! Just what I or any of us would need - sign on with a company who has no work. I left Soft Script because of that. Good grief, I wish I had seen all the feedback earlier. Live and learn I guess. ...

Landmark Transcription No Work ? Mar 27, 2013Anyone else get an e-mail this morning that as of April 1, they have lost a big acct. and we will have no work ? Was basically told we could be put on a waiting list for other upcoming accounts, other platform. Personally, I did not think this sounded very encouraging and with all the lack of work posts by others over the last few weeks, I guess I willl be looking at other options. Luckily, I have work with another company and will try to get some more from them. I really am tired of sta ...

As a recent new hire, I've found there exists a handful of dictators who consistently turn out muffled, tinny audio and/or speech that is all but incomprehensible.
