Info on Transcend - Looking

I am looking for info on Transcend as I am not finding anything current in archives. Email me privately if you wish, I don't want to cause any commotion. What do they pay, what is their platform, is there any straight typing accounts? I am trying a new strategy of holding a few PT jobs to avoid my family starving. Thanx

Especially when I am trying to locate a thread that was on the board maybe 4-5 weeks ago, etc. Another thing, when you search for YYZ MTSO and it brings up several pages, they aren't listed in current order. I have found 2011 posts on the very first archive page. Very poor search engine.

Out of the big companies, Transcend is one of the best I have found. They are very flexible with your time. The pay scale is comparable to the field in these times, whatever you negotiate with the recruiter. You will get your line rate and then half of that plus 0.5 cents for VR.

Must depend on what region you are in, or if you came in with a merger whose company paid more for straight transcription, I guess.

The pay is already listed below, which I would have to agree with. Those who come in on a merger are going to be different. They use the Beyond Text platform, which I believe is their own. They also have accounts on other platforms from mergers, i.e. Bayscribe. I can't speak to other accounts, but mine are both straight typing. I think that's because I came in on a merger and they have changed over yet.

A lot of your questions will depend on what region you're in and what accounts you're assigned. Hopefully you can give it a try and see if it works for you. They are very flexible with schedules.

I start training for them this week, and I'm excited. Out of the big companies I looked at, they seemed like the least disliked one, so I applied. Everyone thus far has been wonderful. Believe me, I know I can ask some incredibly stupid questions, but they've replied to everything quickly and w/ respect I haven't felt in years. Good luck, whichever way you end up going.

Pretty soon the replies will dry up, you'll only hear about backlogs and when you do something wrong. No one ever says thank you. Some of the answers you will get will be so rude that you wonder how the team leader or ROM ever got the job. You will be fine if you just sit in your corner and say nothing, make no suggestions. But also remember that their platform for work in beyondtxt is one of the worst. It takes longer to get into and out of the demographics, spell check and close a report than it does to do most of the reports. They just did an upgrade and now it is worse than ever. And they also use M-Modal which is not a good editing program. You end up redoing about 50% of each report.

You will end up redoing 50% or more of each editing draft. They are terrible, and most of the dictators I have are terrible. They refuse to open their mouths when speaking. And now I hear I have been getting gypped by not receiving the VR pay everyone else does. Also, as noted by Oldiem, they do not say thank you, so if you work extra don't expect any thanks.

Some people are really rude on here. I can't believe some of the comments.

Anyway, I hear that Transcend pays 8 to 8.5-cents for typing and 4.5 to 5-cents for VR. I think the majority of their work is straight typing/VR. I heard that they are going to 90% VR soon.

I can't tell you about Transcend even though they bought us out a few months ago as they have absolutely no contact with us and won't even give us a list of who to contact. I can tell you Inscribe does straight typing and so does Phoenix Medcom.

I don't know what you think is out of date as all the important stuff that one could need such as payroll and support have not changed since April.

If it's your team lead and ROM that are the issue, contact Sue McGrogan (her contact info are on there as well) and say something about not being sure who to answer to and that you feel your questions aren't being answered. She will help you.

I've had NO problems with Transcend and I was part of a merger years ago.

I'm guessing you're talking about your TL/ROM and the AI sheet info because nowhere on the - MLS site does it say last updated in April.

20 team lead positions and the same amount for QA positions in the last 2 months or so.

You should know who your ROM is at the very least and if you're having issues with not knowing who your team leads are then you should e-mail or call your ROM and find out. This information is NOT hard to find with LITTLE bit of effort on your part.

There is a list of team leads, ROMS, QAs, with phone numbers and addresses, but it is very old and really should be updated.

You obviously do not check out your information very well. do you always hide your head in the sand?

So to me the facts I'm giving are the facts I'm seeing.

I know mergers are never fun, as I was part of one myself a few years ago, but I have been nothing but happy hear and unless you are in some awful region I can't imagine them having no contact with you or refusing to give contact. With my company buyout we kept all the same supervisors and such, so we kept going to the same people, but I switched to another region later as EMR wiped out my main account and I needed a new primary. The new region was just as helpful, if not more, and they readily provide contact info for the team leads.

What I'm trying to say is, not meaning to be nasty, is that if they are not giving you the information, and you have in fact asked for the information directly, then you need to go to someone higher up. Sue McGrogan is on the contacts tab under officers and she WILL help you if you are in fact having difficulty with your supervisors not communicating. She helped me when my own previous supervisors absolutely quit communicating after the transition to Transcend. They were no longer paid by the hour, so they decided talking to us wasn't important, and Sue fixed that. They do care if you give them a chance.

I think I sounded "nasty" because you sound rude and bitter. I know everyone has a different experience there and you may have a bad region as there are a few, but try to go into a merger with an open mind instead of immediately assuming it's going to suck so it's doomed from the beginning anyhow. I guess I just don't understand how you can be having any trouble knowing how to contact unless your previous company pretty much dumped you in the merger and never gave you any information on who your new supervisors were and then nobody at Transcend has ever sent you an e-mail. If the information you're looking at is obviously out of date, then just ASK your ROM for the correct info. That's all I'm saying. If you ask, you shall receive, and if you don't, go to the next one up and get their behind in trouble for not being cooperative. Being all bitter on a chat board isn't doing anything to help your situation. I'm making great money with Transcend, have plenty of work, and love my region, so give it a chance.

But I still support that you should at least know who your ROM is and should be getting e-mails from your region on a regular basis, so that list should be a moot point anyhow. The tab "contacts" on the MLS site list everyone that is important (and which they keep updated much better). And you SHOULD know who your team leads are. If you haven't been told that then it is your responsibility to contact your ROM and find out. Like I said before, I do not mean to be nasty, and obviously I'm not afraid to admit when I'm wrong since I did find the list you referred to with a little more looking, but seriously to me it just seems like you're not even trying and you formed your opinion from the get-go.

Do you ever get e-mails from your TL/ROM? Transcend makes them put their phone - extension as part of their e-mail signature.

Plus, if they've e-mailed you before then you have your e-mail.

From what I see, I just can't imagine that you're going months without receiving absolutely ANY e-mails or anything whatsoever. All the signature lines in the e-mail are required to have their contact info, so if you've gotten ANY e-mail at all, you have contact info.

it is not transcription friendly, almost antiquated. I have considered switching to BeyondTxt, but don't want to do VR after my experience with Medquist. I know Medquist has a horrible VR program and Transcend's is supposed to be better. Have any of you used both platforms and can compare Bayscribe to BeyondTxt? I am curious as to if the TLs are meeting their requirements. They are expected to type 75-80% of their time and get paid by the line as well . I am very suspicious that they are not typing VR all day, having their work sent to India, etc, and are getting the straight typing. They get paid a flat fee per month for their administrative duties on top of that. I wonder if they are experiencing no work and looking at a blank screen most of their time& ...

I have read dozens of posts on the board about Transcend, some good and a lot not so good. However, I think there is an explanation for some MTs loving it there and others hating it so much. Transcend is a company made up of many other companies through mergers. The original Transcend who existed first, before acquiring other companies seems to be the problem. I was with the company for over five years, not once failing to meet the requirements of me yet I was told my position would have to change to 2nd or 3rd shift if I wanted to keep my job as there were no positions available for 1st shift. Did anyone else get the memo from Transcend (soon to take over from DTS) about the line rate change for the transitioning employees from DTS? It was elegantly written, but basically it said that when the accounts are switched over the VR that the line rates will decrease but productivity will increase and no cut in pay is expected.
