I am on 2.0 GHZ Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM and XP and it's working absolutely fine for me.

Snowflakes are nice -- not a problem. I think that you are right. I am not a transcriber right now but I am using an iMac OS X Leopard Intel dual-core processor with mega RAM etc. everything very new and I do not have a problem. It is kind of neat actually. Kudos to the creater.

Yes, the snowflakes are very pretty, but they are really screwing up the responsiveness of this site. Typing messages is all herky-jerky and the pages are loading very VERY slowly.

I don't think I'll be back until after the first of the year when hopefully the snowflakes will be gone by then.

If you're using Firefox, you can block them with Adblock Plus. - sm

With that extension you can block snow.js, which prevents the snow (which is cute/pretty/nice/whatever, but really slows things down).

With what extension? I have Firefox and AdBlock Plus but still can't block out the snowflakes - MT4ever

In Ad Block Plus click on preferences, then at the bottom click on Add Filter, then type in snow.js and close it out. The snowflakes should disappear.

I agree in spirit with the May 1st protest, but realistically I cannot spare the day off unpaid. Also, I work for the Wal-Mart of transcription otherwise known as Nuance. Resistance is futile. I honestly believe 80% of all US transcription is going to end up going through Nuance. They should just let the government take them over....then we could all get a big pay raise when we become government employees. LOL The reason I agree with the protest is this: 180 LPH ...

MT Stars admin, the cutesy little snowflakes are really adorable on the page, but gotta say it slows down every other open page on my computer, and while trying to work but have this page open to perhaps check on words or other posts, I just can't because the snowflakes slow everything down. The snowflake situation seems to have gotten worse. There are more of them and I just lost the third or fourth post because of them. The cursor flies around to random parts of the page when one passes by and there is constant flashing. The "flakes" look more like real fast snails trailing down the screen than snow. There is literally a snail trail of distortion behind them. I don't think the snow works with all computers. ...

A new ESL dictating a DS. Can't speed him up because he's too "new" (to this country?). He is spelling every other word!!!!!!
