I don't know who keeps starting these Oracle "complaint threads" (see message) - Long-time OTIMT

but I have been with OTI for MANY years and I have VERY SELDOM run out of work. If I got low on work, I'd ask for a backup account and usually got one. They don't bother me while I'm working unless they call to ask me to do a stat. Perhaps they have "favorites," but I'm not one of them, I can assure you.
I don't understand, if you are so unhappy with Oracle, why you don't just LEAVE?
I'll probably get a bunch of flack from this post, but I'm sick and tired of hearing such negative stuff about OTI on this board, when they have been nothing but good to me and others I have talked to, so I know I'm not the only one.

[ In Reply To ..]They must like you more than the rest of us. I had to find part-time work elsewhere because day after day, my accounts and backup accounts were dried up. I took it personally at first, but now I see a lot of us are in the same boat.
I'm happy for you, that you have enough work. You are probably on an account they've had for a long time that manages to stay in TAT so they don't have to put too many people on it. Just wait, when they start putting people on your account as their secondary, you will be left without work too. I hope that doesn't happen to you, but if it does, you're not alone.
I like Oracle for every other reason (pay is on time, nice people, good accounts, they leave you alone), but not having enough work is a deal-breaker. I will give them just a little more time and then I'm out of there.

As I said, I have worked for them for MANY years, over 10, and have had other MTs put added to my accounts, and with the new account, there have been people recently put on my accounts. I still have never run out of work.
Communicate with them! Tell they how you feel. If you don't get an answer to an email, CALL them.

What you are not hearing is how some MTS are treated by OTI. You apparently are a lucky one. Why haven't I left? Believe me, I am working on it. They have repeatedly made promises of more accounts, more work and not come through. My mistake was I believed them. Not any longer.

I have maybe 8 or 10 accounts in my pool? I rarely, rarely see them listed for available work.

Because regardless of whether you are sick and tired of hearing about it, speaking from experience, it is absolutely true. I am sitting here today, once again, with NO WORK at OTI and it's pretty much been like this all week. Emailing to ask for a backup account DOES NOT WORK because they will not answer your email. It's like they just don't care.
My guess, since you say that you have been at OTI for many years, is that you are probably in management. To my knowledge, there are very few long-time MTs left at OTI now, and I think there are only 2 MTs now who have been there any longer than 10 years. That in itself should tell you something about how the company is being run.
Oracle used to be a premier company and you would see very few (if any) complaints about them on this board. But sadly, that was in the past.
Since you say you have been at OTI for many years, I'm sure you remember when a certain management person was suddenly fired from Oracle without any notice a few years ago. It's certainly not a secret because there was a global email to all MTs about it. And that is when I started to see Oracle change. It was gradual at first, but slowly and steadily the company did indeed change. And it didn't change for the better, that's for sure.
As it stands now, Oracle has quite a number of MTs who are running out of work. The MTs email for backup accounts (as I have done also), only to get absolutely NO response. And out of the rare times that they do respond, it's always something to the effect of "just hang in there" because we have a "new big account coming up soon" They do, however, give backup accounts to their chosen few. I just haven't figured out yet what it takes to be one of those chosen few though. So, then those chosen few are given a backup account, which just also happens to be one of YOUR accounts, and suddenly you have even LESS WORK than you did before.
So again, if you are one of the chosen few MTs who has plenty of work and very seldom runs out of work, count your blessings. And if these negative threads about Oracle bother you, maybe you should just not click into them and read them.
However, if you are in management, maybe try to step back and take a long hard look at what is happening at this company. Maybe you can work to make changes for the better and redirect the company into a more positive direction, which will also work to cut down on the negative comments on this board.

I'm glad that someone finally stepped up and spoke the truth. And, by the way, I only knew that person who was fired for a short time, I have no relationship with that person now, but in that short time, I knew that that person knew how to manage people...and that is where the problem lies now... lies, lies and more lies...every day, never ending. And I hope people that are unhappy continue to post here. Maybe then OTI will wake up and realize they need to make some changes.

I hear both sides. My only problem is that I have been here for 8 years and making just over half what I started at. Why would they have spent the last decade cutting, cutting, and then cutting some more only to give a raise now? Also don't like to be a negative Nellie, but just don't see them giving us a raise.
