to test with them. I have never been involved in editing and was wondering if I should even bother with the testing?

For those who work there, are you happy? Is there enough work? Is the pay at least decent?

The hospital I used to work for outsourced the entire transcription dept. to Accentus. Two older friends are having a terrible time getting used to the editing, but then again, probably fall in the "old dog, new tricks" class. But the work these friends are doing is for the hospital they worked for, so they are very familiar with the dictation, just not getting the hang of the shortcuts, etc. A couple others tried it and quit. A couple others are doing fine, but have multiple accounts. All seem happy with the company, support, and paychecks on time, tho. Not sure of the pay, but my "older" friends are making about half what they were making before--again they aren't up to speed.

Don't think this helps you much! Sorry. Sometimes what works for one doesn't work for another and you just have to try it. Good luck to you.

I am happy there, and the pay and benefits are better than most of the other big MTSOs.

If you have never done editing before, your pay WILL drop, no way to get around this. I have worked extensively with learning the short cut keys, adding editing keys, and can now make "almost" as much as straight typing (with exceptions being when there is static, etc and the SR is truly horrible). Unfortunately, there are not many straight transcription jobs available anymore. Good luck!

I have been with TSI/Accentus for 5 months now and truly love it. The pay is equal to larger MTSO's and the benefits are excellent and very reasonable. Best move I've made.

Medical Transcription just keeps going downhill. They expect more and pay less. I work for Accentus now and actually love my account and got my pay up to 5 cents for SR and 9 cents for transcription, but I have to work 10 hours a day just to make ends meet. They pay based on how many lines you type per hour so it can change every pay period. It's better than what I had at Transcend. The only thing is that my supervisor is a narcissist, very mean, tears you down ...
