Dear Prospective Employer,
It would have been great if you had specified in your ad whether the opening was on-site or if it was available to telecommuters. If it is not available to telecommuters, then I just wasted over an hour of my time and your HR department has a unqualified application to process.
It would have been great if your HR department had done a trial run through your online application to get the bugs out of it.
It would have been great if you had not designed an online application with such restrictive answers. Not everything fits into your neat little categories.
It would have been great if you have given applicants the choice of copying and pasting or uploading their resume. Not all word processing formatting will transfer correctly into your little box.
It would have been great if you had not asked me to list every single employer, including their contact information, for the past 20 years of my career. While I'm sure the lengthy form is there to weed people out, you are probably running off some incredibly qualified candidates -- just like me.

They ALL do that. - Experienced
[ In Reply To ..]All companies do that, not just MTSOs. Even the hospitals I worked for that subsequently laid us all off due to outsourcing were still hiring up to the last minute.
The reason for that is that the negotiations for these contracts are held at the corporate level. Corporate DOES NOT let the info trickle down the pipeline; in fact, typically NOTHING is said until the public announcement is made. So within the organization even the HR folks and the department managers are not given any clue or sign that things are about to change in a major way. She has no idea, so the MT sup has no idea. And when they see a need, they post the opening. And HR processes it, just like they usually do. Then someone is hired, and 3 weeks (or whatever) later they are laid off.

Took me quite awhile to figure this out. You need 2 MT jobs because they all overhire to keep many more employees less busy to pay less. In my day, you kept your 2nd job quiet, but what is the way to do it now? Is it good or bad to be looking for a 2nd part-time job, do you tell them.
