Considering offer from Cypress Medical - Unsure

Posted: Aug 21, 2012

I was just wondering about anyone's experience with Cypress Medical. Was offered a position there, but scared to make the leap.  If you work there, are you able to make a living and are they nice to work for?  Thanks.

Is this for the medical summarizer position? - nm

I've been doing it for a few months. It's okay. I do it only part-time. The hardest part about it is that you never know how much money you're going to make from day to day. One day I can make only 35 bucks, the next day I can make 70 bucks (working part-time each day). It's hard to know how many records you will summarize each day. The other problem is the work flow. You basically have to ask for work each day, sometimes the work doesn't come to you until the end of the day. Other than that, it's okay for supplemental income. It's also a nice change of pace. I don't miss listening to doctors talk and worry about making line count each day. I recommend taking it and if you don't like it you can always leave.

Almost ditto to *I Work There* post...been doing it almost a month, transcribing 3500 lines a week also. Kind of left to your own, not much feedback, work is self-explanatory and mind twisting at times, but agree about not having to transcribe full-time.
I thought they paid by the page? - Unsure

I thought they paid by the page, but you said you were getting 3500 lines a week?
I think she means transcribing 3500 lpw in addition - (sm)

Cypress Medical - Anon #2

[ In Reply To ..]
I tested for this company. I thought it was very odd the way they did this. They have no web site. They will not give me any address or location, or any info on the company. I did find a posting by a transcriptionist who worked for them for a month and she said they never paid her and after a month she was unable to even contact them to get her money. This made me question the Steve person who has been contacting me. He would not give me any address or any info on the company and so I for one will not work for them. The transcriptionist who posted to be wary identified this company as a scam. Just be very, very careful.

CMLS NOT a scam - beentheredonethat

There is no one by the name of Steve; there's a Richard. They contract for the State of California Workers Compensation. Nothing shady about it.

Um, there is no such thing as the State of CA Workers Comp - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Not being mean or condescending, so please don't take it that way, but...

They may do medical summaries for work comp cases in the State of CA, but there is no such entity as what you mentioned. I work legal defense in work comp for atty's in CA and know this to be true :) So if Richard is telling you that, he's not honest.
CA worker's comp - beentheredonethat
[ In Reply To ..]
You misunderstood...just meant that they are doing business in California doing worker's comp cases, therefore it is Calif workers' compensation, as opposed to Nevada, etc. I decided after 25 days I didn't want to continue to pursue this position.
To been there done that, why did - anom
[ In Reply To ..]
Why did you decide to leave after 25 days?
reason for leaving - beentheredonethat
[ In Reply To ..]
Various reasons but mostly that they only pay once a month.

Cypress Medical Offered A Position
May 07, 2014

I applied to their ad, took the test and was offered a position. Would like feedback from anyone who works there, or worked there. Did you like it? Any information you can supply is greatly appreciated. ...

Non-MT Job Offer
Mar 29, 2013

...Okay, I'm not here to start a fight about union vs non-union, but I was just offered a non-MT job at a hospital that has a union, and I am anti-union.  When she told me that it was a union position, my jaw dropped.  She must have seen the look on my face, because she told me that since this is Florida, we don't HAVE to join the union or pay dues or anything like that.  My face brightened up right away. SO, if you are not pro-union be SURE to ask if the state you live ...

GOT A BETTER OFFER FROM WAL-MART
Feb 18, 2010

Well after being in this business for almost 20 years, I have decided it's time to hang up the keyboard,  as a single person I can no longer support myself as a medical transcriptionist.  This is not even a good part-time job anymore.  I have worked for more companies than I cared to admit, suffered through intolerable divas as team leads, gestapo QA, constant nip picking on where a comma goes, or a verb, and had my cpl reduced from what started out at 13 cpl to 0.0350 cpl.&n ...

Is it possible to run 2 companies differen ...

Offer From Medquist
Mar 19, 2010

Wow.  I was just offered a job by MQ.  I politely asked if the 'rumors' were true about being docked for sending reports to QA.  I was informed that if you are supposed to do 6,000 lines a week and 300 lines total come to QA, then yes you would be docked 3 cents per line.  If you are part-time with 4,000 line a week and 200 lines total came to QA, then you would be docked.  I politely said that I would have to decline.  BUT, if you feel that even QA canno ...

Job Offer From Transolutions
Jun 09, 2010

I have a job offer from Transolutions, but I have a couple of questions.   I use Instant Text and I need to know if their platform is compatible with it.  This would definitely be a dealbreaker for me.   The opinions of the company I read on this board were not very favorable -- slow speech rec program,  too much speech rec, etc.  But all the opinions were at least 2 years old.  Is there any more current information out there?   The pay scale is very enticing, but if the ...

Need Advice On Job Offer
Jun 24, 2010

I'm considering an offer from a national company of around 8.75 cents straight typing and around 5.5 for VR. This would be for a full-time position and I have over 10 years experience (but none with VR).  I'm currently on unemployment earning around $1500 a month. My normal production of straight typing is around 150-200 lph.  With this info., should it be a problem to earn more than what I'm currently making on unemployment? I'm afraid to make the change as once I ...
