Company Bashing - Magicfingers

Posted: May 13, 2010

Having been on a break and out of the loop for a few weeks, I went back to read some of the posts I had missed.  I was shocked and appalled by the comments I read regarding TTS.  I am a former (retired) TTS employee.  I have worked for a number of companies during my career, some of them mentioned in the posts, and TTS is by far (in my opinion) the best.  During my years at TTS, I was always treated with courtesy and respect.  TTS is the only company that treated me like a person and not just some anonymous pair of hands cranking out lines so they could make more money.  Having experienced first hand the generosity of a company that values employees who give 100% (isn't that what all companies want from their employees?), I can only assume that wasn't the case with those of you responsible for bashing companies you used to work for.  ALL transcriiption companies reward employees who perform at or above their standards.  I take particular offense in those comments directed toward TTS, but feel that ANY company bashing is not only juvenile, but has no place in this forum, where we are supposed to be adults.  If you are unhappy with a company or feel you have been mistreated, it is certainly your perogative to leave.  For those of you reading these posts when searching for a company to work for, remember there are always two sides to a story and usually the ones who complain the loudest are the ones who perform the least.  Let's use this forum the way it was meant to be used....as a source of information for all transcriptionists....not as a mechanism to bad-mouth a company because YOU didn't live up to THEIR expectations.  Ya know...I think I'll come out of retirement and go to work for TTS.

out of the loop - for sure!!

[ In Reply To ..]
stating an experience or opinion is not company bashing -- you come out of retirement and get back to us in a few weeks AFTER you see the way things are done now, maybe you will see the posts in a different light :)

company bashing - Magicfingers

[ In Reply To ..]
I haven't been "out of the loop" that long and it certainly IS bashing. Had it been YOU those comments were about, maybe you would see things in a different light :).

Company bashing. If someone criticized me I would try to change - if criticism is constructive.

[ In Reply To ..]
When companies are criticized on this board they can take a lesson from it. If they don't care about how they are viewed, they won't do anything different and will continue to lose MTs. It's really quite simple. Fix the company and how they treat MTs - problem solved. No more bashing on MT Stars. Happy MTs who are treated with respect and paid decently do not bash good companies.
Bashing has no power. Good communication skills and work ethics do have power - You have no power as a basher
[ In Reply To ..]
Don't kid yourself into believing that bashing accomplishes anything other than making someone with a sore ego feel better temporarily.

It's something a bully would do until the bully realizes that it isn't a very effective way to live.
What is the difference between bashing and criticizing - eye of the beholder?
[ In Reply To ..]
Don't get why a bunch of MTs in a short period of time decided to spend the afternoon criticizng (bashing) MTs who have had bad experiences at TTS.

Constructive criticism is good for people to learn from. Defending a company that has bullied MTs isn't going to make the company any better.

Constructive criticism would be communication directly with the party being critiqued - Big difference
[ In Reply To ..]
The bashing party is fun for a short time for the several people who are enjoying it. It serves to demonstrate to any MTSO who happens to be reading here that MTs have poor work ethics and terrible attitudes. If I were hiring MTs I would be saying to myself that I sure hope I don't hire any of these people. In fact, if I saw on someone's resume that they recently quit a company that was being bashed with a lot of drama all over the internet, I would put that application at the bottom of the stack. In fact, I wouldn't hire them even if I had no other applicants. Who needs that kind of trouble?!
I don't work for TTS, but I've tried that and gotten nowhere - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
So I'd be willing to bet other people on here have had the same experience. This is when they vent. Not always "bash." And in case you haven't noticed, the economy is in a free fall and it's not always easy to just leave your job and find a new one.
Just guessing but you are here to defend TTS against bashing - Obviously bashing has power
[ In Reply To ..]
I prefer the word criticizing company rather than bashng but if you are part of the company I suppose it strikes a bashing nerve.

I thought this topic of TTS criticism had died. Why are you bringing it back up? It only provides a platform for more criticism of your company. Didn't you know that?
You are wrong. I have no connection with any company being discussed here - Just watching the trainwreck as others are doing
[ In Reply To ..]
It's hard not to want to watch the bad behavior and be thankful that the people you work with aren't like that.
Bad behavior - Magicfingers
[ In Reply To ..]
If you read my original post carefully (I know that's hard...there's a lot to read), my post was about bashing ALL companies not just TTS. Call it what you want, what I read were comments by people who clearly had an agenda, not just about TTS, but quite a few others. I agree absolutely with the comment that it's hard to watch this bad behavior and not be thankful for the great people you work with, which is exactly why I wrote it. We allow a few disgruntled past/present employees to attempt to negate all the good the majority of us do on a daily basis. My post was about courtesy and respect for each other. The negative comments following that I believe speak for themselves. Good for you for acknowledging your coworkers. Sounds like you have a great team.
You said NOTHING about courtesy OR respect - In fact - YOU insulted the MTs.
[ In Reply To ..]

Bashing doesn't show much class - Not Big On Bashing

[ In Reply To ..]
I always think that people who bash do it because they aren't able to use intelligence and skills instead.

One person's bashing is another person's criticism - Reviewer

[ In Reply To ..]
Intelligence and skills has nothing to do with criticizing a company for its treatment of the MTs. It is a review just like a product review or a movie review.
and yet another's experience when littered with facts. - eye of beholder NM

.

Yeah, well I currently work for them - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
and have to agree wholeheartedly with the OP. I know from experience what some of the other companies are like and I am SO happy to be with TTS. I have NEVER had a problem with them. They treat me with respect and are always there when I need them. I give them 100%. So with that I could only guess the bashers just couldn't cut it but of course will never take the blame, better to blame the company. So if the OP comes back to TTS she will find it just as pleasant now as it was when she was there before. Why is it the only opinions that supposedly count on this board are the negative ones.

Company bashing - if the shoe fits they need to wear it. - An adult MT with years of experience

[ In Reply To ..]
TTS has had criticism for years on different boards including MT Stars.

I was warned against working there by a person who left the company because she was baited and switched on the type of accounts she was promised. She told me she was threatened by the recruiter when she left the company that she would never work again because she would spread the word about her quitting TTS.

I took a job at TTS because I needed the work. I don't find the pay generous and have not received an increase in the 4 years I have worked there. There are a lot of mistakes made by the support staff. Someone mentioned the owner screamed at her. I have not had her scream at me but I will say her mood swings are troubling and she makes mega mistakes too. Sometimes I will read an e-mail from her and chuckle because it doesn't make sense.

You want to come out of retirement and go to work at TTS? That's great because TTS really needs you with MTs quitting or being fired and there is a huge backlog of work going out of turn-around.

come on back magic! - Lovin TTS

[ In Reply To ..]
I've never seen TTS mistreat an MT who was doing their job. In my experience, TTS keeps an MT until they either stop showing up to work entirely or screw up so badly and repeatedly that the accounts request TTS remove the MT from doing their work.

Yes, there are always two sides to every story. Thanks, magic, for stating what we who work every day at TTS and love our jobs are feeling!

You are wrong lovin TTS - TTS has a political structure

[ In Reply To ..]
You cross any of the managers or ask the wrong questions and it's off with your head.

Been there and done that.

We could all learn a little about working well with others - Not buying it that all managers are bad there

[ In Reply To ..]
We could all use a little work on office manners.

[ In Reply To ..]
Your comment, "ALL transcriiption companies reward employees who perform at or above their standards." is absolutely NOT true. I am living proof of that.

If you choose to go back to TTS, more power to you. Good luck.

No raise in 4 years from TTS and - Obviously performing at TTS standard

[ In Reply To ..]
Dream on MF. I am living TTS proof of that.

Maybe. We have your word for that. - My point exactly

[ In Reply To ..]
People can carry on for years about how they are the best and haven't been appreciated. We have their word for that. It happens on boards everywhere every day. It's meaningless. It's not proof of anything. It may feel good for a moment saying it, but it isn't productive and doesn't change anything. There are better ways of making a difference. One is by finding a job and succeeding at it. That does great things for an ego.
You aren't making sense. I posted about lack of raise - while performing for 4 years to TTS standards
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't see what your point is about finding a job and succeeding at it. I have a job. I am successful in keeping it for 4 years. I have not received a raise.

Watch out! They'll call you names, including 'SUIT!' because of your positive message - Another non-suit success story

[ In Reply To ..]
I like your message. I've never worked for TTS or any of the companies that are routinely bashed, but whenever one is bashed anonymously and viciously, I lean more to thinking the fault is not with the company. There have always been people who failed to make it. They get angry. They bash. They go elsewhere and start the failing all over again, bashing the next employer and the next. The style of the bashers just isn't very credible.

Bashing - Magicfingers

[ In Reply To ..]
I'm not concerned about the negative replies to my message....it just confirms what I said. And, you are exactly right.

TTS needs help MF - whip out those magic fingers - Put your money where your mouth is

[ In Reply To ..]
They are begging for MTs to work extra for the backlog. They lost more than a few MTs in the past few weeks. Come on back.

Did someone call you a suit? I didn't see that. I do find it funny that for a small company a lot of MTs came out in a short time to support TTS on MT Stars. Do you TTS supporters network?

Like my job at TTS - 40 years and counting

[ In Reply To ..]
Bash away bashers for whatever reasons you have. Not everyone has your experience or opinion.

After 40 years in this business, this job I have with TTS, the job, the people I deal with, and the accounts ranks at the top and I am truly grateful to have this job and the income in a changing industry.

I know I will get hit with criticism over my positive assessment.

Just remember this is my experience. I will not bash your experience but I will always remember it is your opinion and mine is frankly so different.

Come on back Magic Fingers.

I'm coming home! - Magicfingers

I am going back! Looking forward to working with great people again. I guess people who have a strong work ethic and take pride in the quality of their work are "suits." In that case...I'm a suit! TTS here I come! And by the way....thanks for all those merit raises over the years! Merit...hmmm, interesting word dontcha think?

LOL - Where did you all come from?
[ In Reply To ..]
Too funny - all these TTS supporters are having a reunion here on MT Stars, all excited about coming out of retirement, referrals and good times at TTS.

Amazing, simply amazing y'all got together here at MT Stars this afternoon to offer praise and adoration for TTS. It's like a friggin' miracle ya know.

LOL - timing is everything and your timing is slightly out of kilter.
You're right. It was fun. Now I have to get back to work - Never heard of TTS until yesterday
[ In Reply To ..]
It was fun, but time to go to work now. Carry on, and watch out for those 'suits' who are out to get you because you do good work and they are jealous, or whatever the theory bashers are into these days.
Timing? - Lovin TTS
[ In Reply To ..]
Nothing odd in the timing. I have an online job. I post. Online. Weird, huh?
It's not about just your timing. It's all the TTS MTs at once. - out of the woodwork
[ In Reply To ..]
I visit MT Stars on average once or twice a week. Looks like TTS lovers are checking the company board hourly and they all decide to post within MINUTES of each other. Weird huh?

How do you suppose that happens?
Timing? - Loyal TTSer
[ In Reply To ..]
Loyalty is how it happens. Loyalty. A team that supports itself communicates.
Loyalty asked you to post on MT Stars about TTS? - I work at TTS.
[ In Reply To ..]
I didn't get the communication to post on MT Stars.
LOL - Loyal TTSer
[ In Reply To ..]
ROFL. No, TTS did not ask me to post whatsoever. I do it out of loyalty to the team I'm on and out of gratitude for my job and the people who support me in doing my job. I have a great thing going here and I love it.
Questioning the timing? - Not me
[ In Reply To ..]
An MT got fired from TTS and so posted her story, got some others who supported her position, and then posters who were satisfied or happy at TTS posted. That is what this forum is all about. But this has grown so out pitched and now has many more posters involved that now the timing of the positive posters is questioned like it is some organized effort.

I work at TTS and no one has asked me, told me, ordered me to post or contacted me about posting at all.

I used to read and go on, but the harder one side pushes the more I believe there needs to be a pushback from those who have a different experience.

I love my job at TTS. Just trying to keep the balance here so that every opinion and experience can be read.
Keep the balance -- very well put - Thank you - nm

It is called Freedom of Speech.

One of the above "crowing" posters stated that TTS had....sm - Amen!

[ In Reply To ..]
"lost a lot of MTs in the last few weeks." Hmm, wonder why THAT happened? Could it just possibly be that the "bashing" as MF calls it is actually TRUE about this company?

One thing all posters and job searchers must remember - what's good for one may not be good for another - PERIOD! The fact that MF was so pleased, then, begs the next question - WHY DID YOU LEAVE if it was such a heavenly place to work?

I think MF's "bashing" the other supposed bashers is a ridiculous state of opinion. It's also to be noticed that more than a few MTs have stated that TTS is not a good place to work on here. I doubt that it was one or two MTs doing that "bashing" - which then belies the fact that what is being said is more than probably true!

BTW, MF, if you don't like what is being said in a thread, you DO have the option to bypass it, but coming on here and criticizing those who have made statements to the negative will not do you OR TTS any good. Get over yourself!

May have lost a few but they will be gaining a lot more - nm

Bashing... - J
[ In Reply To ..]
Any MT who is more than a few lines behind them knows to take "bashing" on this message board with a grain of salt. Some people love some companies while others hate them. Most are not very specific as to why one way or the other,so who knows what the real story is. The only way to know for sure if any MTSO is right for you is to get hired and start working for them. Bashing or great praise makes no difference.

PS: I did interview once with the lady who runs TTS and she seemed very nice. It just was not the right place for me at that time.
That is so true. Couldn't have said it better. - Small message

Someone just told me a couple of weeks ago that it was a great place to work. No place/career/employee/employer/lifestyle is going to be right for everyone. Hopefully we can all find the place that works for us and we can work for it.

You got the PROOF all these MTs really left? sm - me

[ In Reply To ..]
Yeah, that's what I figured. It's easy to say with nothing to back it up.
Proof? Is this a courtroom? - Are you the defense attorney for TTS?
[ In Reply To ..]
Even though I work at TTS I realize not everyone but management knows what is really going on. Let's just say I have some friends who know what is going on at TTS. Some who are working for TTS may have noticed there is a high backlog on accounts. I have more than one and both are out of turn-around. I asked why this was and I was told TTS lost more than a few MTs. I don't know why they lost MTs but my source is reliable and of course I would not name names out of loyalty. I do not believe it is allowed to name names on this forum either.
AWESOME! - Happy TTS Chick
[ In Reply To ..]
That means more work for us AND job security! Yaaaay!!!

Did these people leave on their own or were they asked to go?

I did not ask why they left or who left. - I just know that is the cause of backlog
[ In Reply To ..]
It's good to have job security but I wonder about accounts going out of TAT and losing them. I don't like the pressure of having to work extra. I already work more hours than I want to during this great weather.
No, I'm no attorney. But that's the best you can do - for proof???? Yeah...okay.. nm

TTS is the first company I've ever worked for that I actually feel rewarded, respected and understood. I actually look forward to coming to work each day...how many of you can say that?

I am curious though about how the poster above is so privy to how many people have quit in the past few weeks, etc.

I also think that whoever bashes companies, should be at least brave enough to post their true names and not hide behind nicknames and IDs.

BRAVO - wonderful

[ In Reply To ..]
This has to be one of the absolute best post on this forum I have ever read. I have not nor have I ever worked for TTS, so I cannot speak for their reputation, however I can say I have seen more bad mouthing on this forum than anywhere else. Toughen up girls, if you think things are bad now, wait till you see what happens in the future. If you want to work in this business, you will work for less and you will work just as hard or harder. If you got into this career thinking it was a "pie" job, well you thought wrong, but for those of us who wish to remain in this line of work we continue on and we work hard and we give it 110%, but way too many think they should get something for nothing!!

TTS needs you dear. There is a huge backlog. They lost a lot of employees the past couple of weeks for one reason or another. They are begging for MTs to work extra. Weekend is coming and it's only going to get worse. Take your magic fingers over to TTS and spare the rest of us your bashing of MTs.

[ In Reply To ..]
You said "ALL transcriiption companies reward employees who perform at or above their standards" -- how naive are you? Companies in every industry take advantage of their employees because profits and shareholders are the most important thing. This includes MT companies. How can you possibly say every transcription company rewards good employees?

It's extremely misguided to have such a personal, emotional attachment to a company you don't even work for anymore. Why do you care if a few anonymous people online don't like TTS? How does this affect your life to the point that you need to come here and tell them they're wrong, they're bad at their job, they don't know how to use the forum properly?

How can you say that ALL companies don't reward good employees? - Bystander

Magic fingers is definitely a SUIT, as in owner. There is only one - TOPMT

[ In Reply To ..]
person at TTS that says "come on home" and that is the owner. Every company has its issues so if you don't mind being tied to your chair, held to a rigid schedule, low pay, "my way or the highway" attitude, keeping up with constantly changing client profiles, and everything short of having a web cam on your computer (yep, no more pajamas and no makeup), go work for TTS and make your own opinion. If the suits don't like what is on here, it's their own fault. I personally am glad to hear truths and do base who I apply to work for according to what I read here as do many others and it is NOT bashing-it is the truth, that is what is making the TTS suits so nervous. At least have the nerve to say who you are and not try to pretend you are "just one of us"-it is sooo obvious!

I was thinking you were a "suit" and I'm pretty sure you are - Trying to throw us off I think

I have NEVER had to deal with whatever you had to with TTS and am wondering what you did to deserve such treatment. Maybe you needed to be watched over like that? I have found if you do what's expected of you and show up when you're supposed to, you're pretty much left alone. I'm really disturbed by your paranoia.

How do you know the phrases the owner uses? What in the world is up with your obsession with proof? This is an anonymous board. Even if you have proof you can't name names here.

I'm disturbed by your obsession with proving a point about TTS by knowing every phrase the owner would use. Only the owner would know what phrases she uses. Only the owner would have such an intense interest in defending her company. Hmmmmmm. Kind of makes you wonder.

LOL - AYK?
[ In Reply To ..]
Why wouldn't an owner defend her own company? Are you one of those who were "asked" to leave TTS?

I'm in agreement. If you are so bold as to come on here and bash a particular company, you should certainly "woman up" and use your real name.
As should the owner be bold enough to use her name - Not create multiple personalities

It's dangerous for a person's mental health when one starts talking to themselves, even on a board at MT Stars.

Really if the owner were really smart, she probably wouldn't keep things going by posting because she sets herself up each time. It is getting painful to watch this company bashed over and over.

RIP TTS.

I was done posting on this subject until the TTS owner was once again accused of posting to these boards. Whether she does or doesn't, I have no idea. But I can tell you that I know Magicfingers personally. She's a very professional and very gracious lady who was kind enough to ship all her reference books to me when she retired because she knew I had none. She definitely doesn't own TTS and never has. Wasn't even a team leader or shift lead, just a darn good MT.

Do you have proof of MF not being a suit? JK - MF opened a can of worms here.

75 cents to a dollar may be good for BEGINNING RadMTs, but it is hardly fair for a RadMT who has been doing it for 10 years or more!  When they offer an acute care MT 5 or 6 cents a line, people lose their minds!  Actually, I have seen mobs lose their minds when offered 7 or 8 cents!  So why should we settle?  $1.20 is hardly fair when you have been making more than $1.50!  Literally, some of us lost thousands of dollars a year!  Personally I started out makin ...

I Want To Find A Different Company, But My Fear Is That MQ Will Only Swallow That Company
Jul 15, 2011

up and I'd be back at square one, making no more than their "maximums."  I wonder, are this new maximum pay going to stay the same (or lower)?  I mean, in 5 or 10 years (if we are still here) will it be the same?  Or less?  I think so. ...

What Would Be An Ideal Company? I Would Like To Build That Company.
Mar 31, 2010

We are a pretty big company, and we think we know what transcriptionists want, but it doesn't hurt to ask.  There are a lot of top people in our industry that are finding themselves without jobs, often without notice, both managers and transcriptionists.  I think that the tide is turning, and that we need to make sure that we treat our people right, so if you could take a few minutes and answer this, maybe we can make a difference.  I am asking for real answers, ones that ar ...

I Wanted To Add A Company To The Bad Company List And
Apr 21, 2012

one to stay away from.  Integrity.  They test you, claim they are checking your references and then when you email asking if they got hold of the references, crickets.  Not a word from them.  This has been a few weeks, too.  If they are this rude just during the recruiting process, I hate to think what working for them would be like. ...

MDOfficeManager (company) - Anyone Have Information On This Company?
Aug 31, 2014

Has anyone heard of a company called MDOfficeManager?  I was interested but I do not like the way they require SSN and other personal information up front before allowing the applicant to proceed with other parts of the application, including online tests.  I have heard there are fake websites for job applications.  Thanks. ...

How Do I Look Up A Company On The Company Board?
Nov 09, 2009

I'm trying to do research on some companies before applying.  Can anyone tell me how to do this or if it is possible to do this yet on MTStars?  Also if you know of other web sites that are good for this type of research, that would be helpful as well. ...

Looking For A VR Company
Nov 02, 2009

I have never done straight typing, my first MT job was with VR (even though I didn't even know they had stuff like that, LOL) now I love it and I am looking for some VR companies that are good to work for. If anyone could point me in the direction of some companies.  Thanks so much ahead of time ...

Looking For A Company With No ASR And All USA
Nov 18, 2009

I have over 30 years in this field and it seems that a lot of companies are either cutting the MT's pay to edit on ASR and/or are offshoring work out to India, Pakistan, Philippines, etc.  I don't believe in sending our jobs overseas, and I've also given ASR at whirl (a long whirl lol) and I still couldn't increase my lines per hour to compensate for the cut in pay that I had to take by doing ASR.  So what I'm looking for is a company that does not do ASR, do ...

What Do You Look For In A Company?
May 14, 2010

I will begin my job search in a few short months after graduating from M-Tec. Reading the company board has been an experience with all the negativity, but everyone has different experiences with a company and entitled to their opinion. My question is what do people look for in a company in the current market? How do you know if a company is a good fit for you? What would you consider a "red-flag" that would make you turn away from a company? No this isn't a school assignment or anything ...

Can The Company Do This?
Oct 19, 2010

The company I work for hired me as full time 1000 lines with benefits.  3 months later they changed their policies to 1200 lines anything under no benefits.  Also we can not work over 40 hours.  How can they pay me by line but then tell me how many hours I can work?  I don't work hourly.  I love transcription but I've been with 2 companies in the last year and can't meet all their requirements to get benefits.  Is this normal?  I used to work fo ...

What Would You Do If Your Company
May 20, 2011

Would you be able to perform at that level?  I'm sure there are some of you that say you consistently produce 100% quality and at least 400 lines an hour.  I'm not talking to you.  How about the regular MTs out there?  Are there any companies that require this?  Is it even attainable with the subjective nature of this job?  How about if all of your accounts are ESLs and your pay gets docked if you send more than 1 document a day to the QA department?  ...

Is There A Company Out There
Nov 26, 2011

that doesn't skew lines, lie to its MTs about it, pays a decent rate, has an MT-friendly platform, doesn't outsource, usually has a good workload, respects its MTs?  I'm so angry at having my lines cut and being lied to about it I'm moving on, but I fear anywhere I go it's going to be the same thing.  Are there any good companies out there anymore? ...

Looking For New Company
Jan 11, 2012

Hi all. I've been an MT for over 20 years. The company I currently work for has ridiculous policies and we are docked for mistakes. I've also been on night shift for 2 years and would really like to work days. I know no place is perfect, but I would like some opinions from you about where you work, and if you are relatively happy with your company. Thanks!!! ...
