Bad Check Update - Upset MT

Update from my earlier post. You guys will not believe that I just got a voicemail from Encore stating that the "third" check I put in the bank on Sunday will ALSO BOUNCE!!! You got to be kidding me. Am I suppose to say thank you for telling me that. How about STOP giving me bad checks. They said that the account number on the "NEW" checks they sent out is not correct. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever encountered dealing with a transcription company. The woman said that they were overnighting me another check. LorD!!! I have one very small check left that I am suppost to recieve from them.... I want a money order for that one. I just don't trust them now!!! I made to sit for hours with NO work, had to jump in and help other people on their shifts who had too much work? I never knew if I was going to make any money from week to week. which we all know is very stressful because we have familes to take care of. This company is not a good company to work for all around... no work and bad checks. PLEASE!!!

Suggest to the ones who control the payroll that you receive your money through PayPal. I have received payment that way a few times and at that time, I would transfer the funds into my checking or savings account. About a year or so ago, I did apply for a PayPal debit card, so now if my father wants to send me birthday or Christmas money, I have him do it that way. MUCH cheaper than sending money via Western Union, and if they do send you a money order, make sure it is a postal money order and not from some off the wall place where you might not be able to cash it. Another thing too, is I have NEVER heard of a routing number or an account number being printed wrong on a check unless these people ordered the checks through an online source. If the checks were ordered through a bank, then the bank offical who opened the account would be the one handling that kind of thing. JMHO, but I think they are blowing smoke out of a certain part of their anatomy.

I'm hoping you really do receive a postal or major bank money order tomorrow and that you're able to cash it.

They aren't going to help her with this. I can't remember if she said she's an employee or an IC but I seem to remember she said IC. In that case the DOL really has nothing to do with it.

As a business owner, she can file a small claims case to receive her money, she can hire a collection agency, she can write it off on her taxes.

You can call the police but I highly doubt they will do little more than tell you to file a small court claim.

keep the voice mail they sent stating the check they sent would bounce, as well. That is verbal proof that it was intentional and they knew it would bounce. Keep all communications in regard to this, emails, voice mails, everything! You may need it when it gets to court, and it will. Good luck to you!

I want to extend my deepest apologies for any inconvenience you have experienced. We value our contractors, and we have been working diligently to remedy a situation caused by circumstances beyond our control.

Having recently switched banks, our accounting firm made a clerical error with the new bank̢۪s routing numbers. This, unfortunately, forced us to recall our checks. It is important to point out that we immediately took steps to ensure that our partners received their full compensation as quickly as possible. We are coordinating with our bank and accounting firm to prevent this error from reoccurring.

It has been brought to my attention that other statements have been made on this forum that deserve clarification.

It is inaccurate for the originator of this post to claim that she was not compensated for her efforts. Because of the errors previously mentioned, she did experience trouble with previous payments. We acted swiftly to ensure the bank corrected their mistakes and completed payment that same day. We also made the decision to switch to a more reliable bank as a result of these issues.

We are proud of the quality product we deliver to our clients, and we̢۪re proud of the transcription professionals we work with each day. In those rare instances when errors have occurred, we have responded immediately to remedy those issues.

All I have to say is, if it were me that you bounced checks to on three separate occasions, I would be at the police station filing a claim. This person could have children to feed. There is no possible excuse for three bounced checks.

Once is a banking error. More than once is a shady company. As soon as you were aware of the issue, your contractors should have had money orders overnighted to them.

As a transcriptionist who has worked for this company for 13 years, I would like to shed some light on the type of company this is, as I cannot sit quietly by and see it bashed repeatedly without responding. This company is owned and managed by a spectacular group of women. I am very saddened that not everyone agrees, as these same women would give us the shirts off of their backs if we needed them. They meet issues head-on and do not shrink in the light of adversity. If there is a problem, THEY FIX IT. I am proud to say that I work for this company and plan on doing so for many years. I am an IC and would not have stayed for over a decade (with no interruption) if the company were as outlined in this posting.

While I might tend to applaud you for swiftly ensuring that the bank corrected their mistakes, this poor MT was left holding the bag through no fault of his/her own. In this day and age, I find this totally unacceptable, especially with the wages we have been reduced to. Has it occurred to you that this MT, like most of us these days, just cannot afford to wait for your "bank errors" to be corrected? We work for what little bit of money we earn and, quite frankly, we deserve our paychecks when they are due with no excuses from MTSOs, regardless of whatever reason(s) they come up with. Switching banks, to me, is not a viable excuse for non-payment. Just my opinion.

was not posted until the mention of police intervention was brought up as a remedy for the actions of a felony with the issuance of bad checks, and knowingly on top of that. It is a true shame that the contractor has to resort to such actions in order to get a response of any kind in this regard. I truly hope the contractor in this regard receives prompt payment for the work submitted. Unfortunately, an "apology" after the fact somehow just does not compensate for the ineptness put forth in this case. A company image has been sullied by their own actions, and now they are crying "foul." For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Trying to mitigate the damages after the fact is only making things appear better on the contractor's side of things. Not saying anything at all in "defense" of indefensible actions would have been perceived better than a half-hearted apology after the fact.

I must say if we call ourselves "professionals" we should be "professional" all of the time. A lot of what I've read is quite the opposite. I have worked for this company for 12-1/2 years and have not regretted one day. The owner trained me herself and gave me a chance that many others would not and for that I am extremely grateful. I have nothing but good things to say about Encore and their management team. They have always been very accommodating with regard to our different work schedules and have treated us with nothing short of respect. They are first rate at providing their clients with excellent service and ensuring their transcriptionists have the tools to do just that. I am very pleased to call myself an independent contractor for Encore and plan to be so for many years to come.

First of all, I have to agree with the other posters here with what I consider to be "company cheerleaders" coming on AFTER the fact.

If the company was in the process of changing banks or whatever, why didn't the company have the courtesy to send an email out to the employees stating that they were going to be changing banks and that payroll MIGHT be delayed? MTSOs need to realize that not all MTs have a second income to rely on, and that yes, we are basically living from check to check. I cannot believe either that the "accounting firm" was so careless as to have transposed numbers wrong for an account or routing number.

It is JMHO that the employees should have been paid either by a postal money order or even PayPal -- of course, for the MTSO, THEY would have had to incur fees for those kinds of transactions, but when an MT ends up occurring $35 fees or more for NSF, then yes, it is a crime.

I have worked in the past for companies who issue checks and the first thing I do is contact their bank to make sure that the funds are in the account before I even deposit the check. If this MTSO has enough employess, I can't for the life of me understand why the don't offer DD.

The negativity on this board is why I don't frequent here, but insomnia got me this morning and I unfortunately clicked the link.

First of all, it is really sad to see all the ones on here that DO NOT work for Encore to come on here and have all the solutions to this situation. I am guessing none of your have ever made a mistake in your banking and have all made 100 on all of your audits because you sure are looking to be perfect on here.

Yes I work for Encore and yes I have had 3 bounced checks, but I love the work and the pay is better than I have had in a long time. I would rather get notification of a bad check and correction of it than a check never paid or even yet in the unemployment line.

I agree with the poster who said direct deposit should have been offered to anyone who has received bounced checks. I had a company actually bounce several checks on me and they set me up with direct deposit--problem solved.

Also, if the situation were in reverse and the company was owed money by the MT and the MT's check to the company bounced, you better believe they would take action--just saying.

Hi everyone I just wanted to stop by really quick and let you all know that finally, FINALLY I am off QA. I was given two accounts today in addition to the one they had initially given me. I can now type w/o counting my reports and waiting for feedback first. It remains to be seen of course, whether or not there will be as much work as I was told but so far, this company has been true to their word. Okay so when I logged in this morning, I get the message to upgrade.  I am currently using Vista.  When I go to Docqmanage to upgrade, I get the message "The version of DocQscribe you are trying to install requires the Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package SP2." I tried to install it, but it says its not compatible with Vista! Somebody Help!!  ...

Well, the head tech guy called today and remotely went on my computer, and he could not find a solution to this error coming up when opening Editscript v 9.  It will not work, so I cannot work.  I have a new job, but I can't work because I can't get ES 9 to work.  Funny thing is, it does this on both my computers, and one is an XP and one is Vista.  What are the odds both computers would give this same error?  The tech guy said they have never seen this error b ...

I once was employed by DIT but fortunately no longer.  Was wondering if anyone had an update on them.  I am still owed about $1000, but have really given up on ever getting the rest of this money.  I took them to small claims back several years ago.  Are they still in business? Does anyone know?  I got a 1099 with their old address on it which they are supposedly not there anymore.  No one can get an address, much less a phone number because there are more claims out there.  Just wonder ...

I was just wondering what is happening at Precyse.  I left Precyse last month after they sent my fourth account over to India, and there was no work.  Management kept telling us to be patient and just use PTO, but we had not really had any work for months and had already used up most of the PTO.  They blamed the no work situation on the bad weather during the winter.  I am at a new company now, and they seem to appreciate me, which Precyse did not.  My team leader ...

Update On Three Reports A Day

Thanks everyone for your encouragement on my first post about 3 reports a day since I started with my new company.  I have now been with the company as an IC for 4 days and still being restricted.   I understand that new hires have to be checked.  This is bordering on ridiculous, though.  Today for instance I had one report, ONE.  It was multiple patients on one dictation but after that, nothing.   I waited for it to get through QA and reviewed corrections ...
