Alltype has offered me an IC QA editor job but... - Sigh

They require that I purchase professional liability insurance.

Does anyone work at Alltype as QA editor? and if so could I get you to message me? I have a few questions.

This whole liability insurance thing just bothers me so much. I make so little now as QA that to then have to shell out more money, I am considering just retiring and be done with this profession.

Happy Robin MT's message on this. She seems to know a lot and she has a lot to say about it. If I recall, she worked for an insurance company but that part of my memory is vague. I know she said no to it, too.

I would not agree to it.

I have errors and omissions coverage on myself for another line of work (travel consultant), and it is not cheap!

Anyone working for TransTech. I received an offer from them for third shift on the weekends. Just wondered if anyone is working for them now or in the past. How hard is their system to leaarn.

I worked for them for over a year in QA. Made good money but the management is terrible..Lots of changes have taken place and not for the better. I would say run in the opposite direction. As far as the insurance, it is to cover you in case of a mistake you make and you are not held liable. They really should have to pay that and do on employees. I had heard they were not hiring anymore ICs. They have lost ALOT of people recently, main people, and for good reason.

Because I am Canadian, I do not qualify for the cheaper insurance through AHDI, and the premium for this liability insurance otherwise through a private broker is just too dern high.

Plus then was told line count is 56 visible character line which is supposed to be the same as 65 with spaces, so not sure how that pays.

I think I will stick with my hourly QA position. Pay is always late but am not asked to pay through the nose for insurance.

Well after finding out that ALLtype was bought out by MedQ I had to make a choice - I resigned. I just cannot bring myself to work for an Indian owned company, nor do I want to fight for work with an underpaid and less qualified Indian MT. Has anyone tested for Alltype? I got to test with editing and they sent me 4 tests to edit, but the catch was, these were not voice files. I just had to edit what I saw. I found it very difficult to edit without the voice. ...

Since I got laid off from Webmedx in September I've been on unemployment. I tried to work for Alltype and couldn't do it. The pay was alright but the support was awful, they just threw me into the job with no training, hardly any information on my accounts, no contact whatsoever from supervisors. Just an update...I'm still jumping through hoops for this paycheck. Then I'll have a paycheck that should be mailed next week, also. I'm wondering how long I'll have to wait for that one or if I will ever see either of these checks. Why dont they just start asking us to work for free! At that rate I dont even think you make minimum wage! This is obviously not even because of outsourcing. I think what has happened is that a lot of work has gone overseas, but the remaining work that the transcription companies are getting is still paying a half-ways decent rate but they have taken a small cut to keep them.
