ANP Transcriptions-DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY - Experienced MT

Posted: Feb 27, 2012

DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY. They are behind paying IC's 5 months and beyond. They say they are forced to hire new contractors and will only pay the contractors willing to continue to work with them after dozens of empty promises to pay. They are giving us the run around about a small business loan and funds not coming through as planned. The accounting person, who is now listed as president, ALBERT SUID, told me over the phone don't expect a reponse to my emails inquiring about payment since I won't work for free. I worked for them over a year and thought we had a good relationship. They are having serious financial troubles. Don't work for them unless you like working for free.

This happened to me a couple of years ago with them - sm

Albert was the accounting person. The owner said the same thing to me. Told me good luck try and get your money. Albert wouldn't return calls or emails. They will never change - ever. I probably still have all of the emails he sent me... There are some complaints about them on Ripoff.com

You should sue their behinds. (How did you - survive 5 months with no pay?)

You had a contract with them. So much work for so much pay. You did the work. They HAVE to pay you for it.

Thanks for the heads up!! There is a place on here - sm

Why would ANYONE work past 1 month of not getting a paycheck? I'm puzzled here.Is this why *bad* companies thrive, because they are enabled by MTs putting up with it? I'm genuinely curious why someone would stay after not getting paid.

I'm with you. I couldn't make it financially just losing 1 month sm - Just curious

of pay, much less 5, and (no offense to the OP), I wouldn't be so trusting as to hang in there that long based on the promises of someone. Unfortunately, I live paycheck to paycheck, and if I didn't get paid that first time, I'd be gone. Sorry to think there are companies out there like this.

I started jobhunting after they sent the email saying they were having some rough times, work was slow, etc. They sent me a check during those 5 months for Sept. with the reassurance that they would take care of us "priority" transcriptionists as soon as the funds were released on their "small business loan." I'm totally with you, what kind of fool would work for free. I threatened to stop working in November if they didn't pay me at least for September and I got a check right away with the promise that the next one would go out on time, and so forth. I kept taking small amounts of work from them, hoping that I could at least get a few more checks before they got this behind-and now I'm in this situation.

During this time, I've been jobhunting and have been unable get work. I have 4 years of experience and I can't get a response from anyone. The only response I've gotten are ones that want me to do on-site training thousands of miles away.

I'm considering giving up this type of career. This is the second time this has happened to me. At least, no more independent contractor business.

I just wanted to get the word out on ANP. DIT is the other company that did the exact same thing 3 years ago. Maybe I should stay away from 3-letter companies. LOL.

My experience with job hunting is go over your resume with a fine-tooth comb per se; don't put your age. Play up any and all skills with adjectives. Have your resume stand out and keep it short and to the point. Then get it out everywhere you can think of. Guarantee eventually someone will contact you. Never failed for me. Good Luck!

I have done lots of calling around to try to find out my rights in terms of payment. Don't give up hope. I would recommend calling the U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hours Division in the White Plains New York area.

Anything About Transcriptions Express?
Apr 18, 2011

Does anyone know anything about Transcriptions Express?  In researching them I found 3 complaints on the Rip Off Report about them.  They, evidently, charge for early termination, is this standard?  They also charge for equipment if you don't have any.  I think this is just a way for some companies to increase their bottom line.  It sounds like these were just disgruntled ex-employees.  There have been no new complaints since 2009 and the BBB doesn't have any complaints about the ...

Any Suggestions For Multispeaker Transcriptions?
Jan 22, 2012

This is the second company I have tested for for non-medical transcription work, transcribing meetings, etc.  I do fine with presentations, i.e. speaker addressing audience.  The multispeaker settings, however, leave me flustered.  I sometimes find it difficult discerning the various voices when they sound simiilar or are talking over each other.  If they are very different voices, I don't have any problem. This is obviously an "ear" thing.  Perhaps I'm j ...

Fox Transcriptions Pay Of 40-50 Cents Per Audio Minute
Feb 06, 2013

Even at 50 cents an audio minute, if you get a 10-minute report that would equate to $5.00. Usually it takes 30 minutes to do a 10-minute report so that would mean one would receive $10.00 an hour. If only getting 40 cents, that's $8.00 an hour. PFFT! I don't see how this is any improvement over our standard slave wages, yet their ad sounds like they invented the wheel or sliced bread. With a name like "Fox," it's got to be bad. (Apologies to Smucker's.) ...

What Would Be An Ideal Company? I Would Like To Build That Company.
Mar 31, 2010

We are a pretty big company, and we think we know what transcriptionists want, but it doesn't hurt to ask.  There are a lot of top people in our industry that are finding themselves without jobs, often without notice, both managers and transcriptionists.  I think that the tide is turning, and that we need to make sure that we treat our people right, so if you could take a few minutes and answer this, maybe we can make a difference.  I am asking for real answers, ones that ar ...
