I don't know why the OP was given the math test or the other tests, but asking questions about a candidate's sexual orientation, marital status or religion is definitely illegal. I do know that some places do personality profiling. I went on an interview recently for a non-MT entry level type job. I was given one written quiz related to the job, but the interviewer asked nothing about my interests, background or skills, but asked a long list of questions about workplace diversity and inclusion. I bluffed my way through the interview because I didn't know how to answer some of the questions and wasn't offered the job. That interview definitely felt as if I was being profiled.
