Hopefully it will correct itself - Good luck

I know my suggestion was out in left field, but just something I thought of. When you got your laptop, there should have been a registration card or a link for you to register your purchase; that would place your one-year warranty into effect, and HP is obligated to provide support until that expires. Even if you went back to Costco, they might provide some assistance. I understand the red tape involved, but if the laptop is defective, you shouldn’t have to just live with it. Your daughter may love her computer but that doesn’t mean you didn’t get a lemon. There might be a manufacturing defect that you might be able to nip in the bud instead of an expensive repair layer. Anyway, I was just trying to help.
