Are you accidentally resting your hands on the track pad when you type? That might possibly make it jump and/or make text disappear. I use an external wireless mouse because I've never mastered a track pad. It might even be something on your network if it only does it at home. If it only does it in email or Word, I think Costco has a return/exchange policy and your HP warranty should be in effect for a year if the problem persists. For $700, I would guess that you purchased a top of the line device and should not have to live with that.
