Stepping up and taking the initiative to better your life/career, whether it's taking classes, learning a new trade, or whatever is going to make you more marketable in the workforce and happier is definitely something to be congratulated on. What are you doing to better yourself? I have thought about taking a medical assistant course myself, but I've been procrastinating too much. I have to say, the bitterness and jealousy are oozing from your post. It's almost funny.
