If retiring early, make sure your income up to - the point you retire

is not over 18,000 which is the limit you can make in a year if retiring before age 66. I've been thinking about it myself. I am 64 and when I called SS office, they said if I am not over the limit when I apply, then I will not be penalized, but if you have met that 18,000 let's say by May or June, then your check will be deducted a certain amount.
